    Hey Neel. I wanted to ask, do you ever feel imposter syndrome working at Bain with so many other intelligent people like yourself working at the firm. Also, do you feel any pressure with the up or out policy at Bain. Both these questions are mental health-related, so maybe you could make a video discussing how you manage your mental health working in a high-stress environment.

      Also, it would be interesting to see you or Rohit have a paid service where viewers can pay you to run cases with us (similar to Victor Cheng). This way we can support your channel and you won't get annoying messages from people to case them for free with 0 experience.

      Hey Aryaan, that's a great question man. And Neel here to answer. To be honest, sometimes. But given that I've been in other situations where I've had to deal with it (a competitive HS and also college scholarship cohort), I think I don't feel it nearly as much anymore and know how to deal with it appropriately.
      And for the pressure on the up or out policy, there's definitely some pressure there in regards to the "bar" for performance always going up. But in general, Bain does a pretty good job of making it a non-toxic process in most cases.
      But all that to say, we'd love to make a video talking more about how to deal with imposter syndrome, dealing with performance pressures, and in general how we try to maintain good mental health while in stressful environments

      @@aryaankhan2365 That's a great idea! And one that we've definitely toyed with (as you can imagine, doing things for free isn't as attractive as doing them for a price). So we'll keep y'all posted on where we land as for as providing paid services for things like cases or resume / cover letter reviews

    Another excellent effort Neel! Appreciated the usual authenticity! Also appreciated the honesty as well! E.g. how to make the most of the time in a way that's not only more useful to you but also more respectful to them by doing some initial casing practise first to iron out the classic rookie mistakes so that they can hopefully more smoothly help you progress from being okay/medium/good at casing to being someone with the potential to hopefully stand out. Also appreciated the added note on screen with the star/aristerix saying the first example message is still a solid message (but maybe just from someone who's at an earlier stage in their consulting/graduate work/internship/career related research efforts), excellent, excellent, excellent Neel! Raza =)

      I think they've changed the Problem Solving Test (PST) and replaced it with a problem solving game which you can find here: www.mckinsey.com/careers/mckinsey-digital-assessment
      I hope this helps!

    Great video! I have a written case interview in 2 weeks any tips you'd recommend for prep?

    • @201Cleansheets
      @201Cleansheets Před 3 lety +1

      Hey, I did the written case a few weeks ago. They give you lots of data in the form of slides and then you have to fill out pre-made slides (slides with headers and specific questions) by performing calculations and pulling the most relevant information from the deck. You then have to take the interviewer through the analysis you've done and answer some of their questions in a discussion afterwards.
      Its tough time-wise so I'd recommend making early decisions on your answers to the questions based on the data you think is most important and not get bogged down in trying to include everything. Structure is also really important so try and have some sort of logic to the points you have on each slide.
      E.g. (completely arbitrary example) -The slide title might be 'Ways the client (US airline) can cut costs' - Split it by fuel costs and non fuel costs and then have different cost cutting strategies within each category.

      @@201Cleansheets Great answer!
      We've actually never done a written case in our interviews, so that's a good idea we'll add to the list! But I think the same principles of good casing in general still apply (just like Nofrillsfootball was referring to)

  • @nainikam6191
    @nainikam6191 Před 3 lety

    Hey Neel, I was wondering what do you think about practicing with a family member who doesn't know anything about casing, but reads you the case prompt and gives the data when asked?

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  Před 3 lety

      Hey Nika, good question - to be honest, I (Neel here) don't think so, UNLESS you're at the point where you're good enough to self-evaluate and you're just looking for more repetitions because you know what good looks like.
      But if you're still trying to get good at casing and learn the fundamentals, I think it'd be best to practice with someone who's also looking to get better and thus can give better feedback on how to improve.
      What do you think?
