Delicate Sound of Thunder live concert movie by Pink Floyd was filmed during their A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour from August 19-23, 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, with some additional footage from June 21-22, 1988 at the Place d'Armes of the Château de Versailles, Versailles, France. The Pink Floyd DVD concert was initially released on VHS, Video CD, and Laserdisc formats. The Pink Floyd film was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video at the 32nd Annual Grammy Awards.
The Momentary Lapse of Reason tour (documented on the release) marked a rebirth for Pink Floyd. David Gilmour and Nick Mason had won the rights to the band’s name after a legal battle with bassist Roger Waters, who had left the group a few years earlier. The guitarist and drummer brought back keyboardist Rick Wright, who had been fired around the making of The Wall, and made A Momentary Lapse, which made it up to Number Three in the U.S. and solidified their place as an act that could play arenas and stadiums. The progressive rock band ended up playing to more than 4.25 million fans around the world over the course of more than two years.
Pink Floyd is David Gilmour - guitars, console steel guitar, vocals; Nick Mason - drums and Richard Wright - keyboards, piano, Hammond organ, vocals with Tim Renwick - guitars, vocals; Jon Carin - keyboards, piano, programming, vocals; Scott Page - saxophones, oboe, guitar; Guy Pratt - bass, vocals; Gary Wallis - percussion; and Margret Taylor, Rachel Fury, Durga McBroom - backing vocals. Watch Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon full album performed by Dream Theater live: • Pink Floyd's Dark Side... - Hudba
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 27 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"...
I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Scott Page” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 200 shows I’ve seen.
All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS
The man WITH the Red Fender Stratocaster is PRICELESS.
@@bondojoe8161 Yes he is. The album he signed hangs in my music room.... Priceless to me.

I listened to them in the rain on my birthday in 88 outside the Oakland stadium was the greatest concert I never saw.
I'm 63 and I still listen to them, greatest before their time.Delicate sounds of thunder.
I'm 76 and will always listen to them
))) Мне тоже 63. Тоже слушаю ! Иногда 😭.....
Yea us old guys can still rock. Gad I saw them in concert early 90s. My 26yo son is getting into classic rock with all our families old records from the 60-80s. He was into hip-hop but figuring out a lot of it has little talent.
I,me 57! Hello from the Russia!
@@user-rn6ip9nx7b I' m from Kazakhstan.Almaty.
I can remember a teacher of mine in third grade allowed another student "Rob" to bring a record to class & play it & it was Pink Floyd. That's when I got hooked. Now I'm 58 & listen to them more than ever disecting each & every members participation in a show & I can't describe you guys & gals "Pink Floyd" as anything less than Gods of music. What I want to know is do you guys "Pink Floyd" have any idea how many of us truly love your music? I feel privileged to have had you guys play in my life time & hope we can do it all again on the other side if there is one.
I was 15 or so when I first heard this....unbelievable performance from absolute masters..
Been going to their shows since 1970 still enjoy like a teenager. I'm 69years.
I'm 67 been going to concerts since I was 18..I saw all the bands with the exception of few, maybe..and I'm glad I did,..I still have the part of the tickets,
Spectrum is gone now but I'll never forget the way it smelled...

Pamela - I am 76, and still listen to Floyd with earphones. I mean, this is the music of my youth - what else would I listen to?
I saw this show back in 88 out in Long Island at the Coliseum. Caught "The Wall" Tour back in 80. They never failed to put on anything less than not just a Show, but an "Experience" that lasts a lifetime. David Gilmour has gotta be one of the most underrated Guitar players despite his ability to perform magically. What a nite After we left we went to Jones Beach to watch the sun come up. Truly an incredible nite ✌
Very cool. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Fascinante 👊👏👏👏🙏😁😁👍
bring me to tears. Thanks to Pink Floyd for putting on new colors in my life.
Fortunate to have been a bodyguard in Pontiac for this tour. Awesome people.
I saw them on this tour two nights in a row at Phoenix Municipal Stadium in Phoenix, AZ on 4/25 & 4/26, 1988. It was an event that I can't fully put into words but maybe these can convey what it was like: Spectacular, mind-blowing, semi-religious. A who's-who and what's-what of great 1970's tunes!
The first night we took psychedelic mushrooms and were quite literally blown away! The second night we went completely sober and it was also equally glorious, just like the previous night.
Both nights ended up being very special and I'll take these two gigs to the grave. This set of concerts occupy a dual spot at #1 on my "ten greatest concerts I've attended" list.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
En Español:
Los vi en esta gira dos noches seguidas en el Estadio Municipal de Phoenix en Phoenix, AZ, el 25 y 26 de Abril de 1988. Fue un evento que no puedo expresar con palabras, pero tal vez estas palabras pueden transmitir lo que estubo: Espectacular, alucinante, semirreligiosa. ¡Un quién es quién y qué es qué de las grandes canciones de los 70's!
¡La primera noche tomamos hongos psicodélicos y quedamos literalmente impresionados! La segunda noche estuvimos completamente sobrios y también fue igualmente glorioso, al igual de la noche antes.
Estas dos noches terminaron siendo muy especiales y me llevaré estos dos conciertos a la tumba. Este conjunto de conciertos ocupa un lugar doble en el número 1 en mi lista de los "diez mejores conciertos a los que he asistido".
I saw The Floyd for the first time when I was 17. Pittsburgh PA, Three Rivers Stadium, at nite, 68,000 people. It was the Dark Side Of The Moon tour. My life literally changed that nite, can't explain it in words but Pink Floyd became the soundtrack of my life to this day, I'm 68. That nite was special... spiritual ( I'm sure the 'shrooms played a part too ). Fortunate to see them 4 times in the 70s and their final tour in 94 in Cleveland OH, Lakefront Stadium, at nite, 70,000 people. Reminded me of the first time I saw them 20 years ago. They were more than another concert...they were spiritual experiences.
I saw this tour live in Wembly Areana! What an amazing concert, without a doubt best I have ever attended.
O, you lucky dog!
Best group and light show in the whole universe love this concert....
I Only Just Discovered This Extraordinary And Yes, Absolutely Heavenly Piece Of Art Today. I Was Lucky Enough To See And Experience Pink Floyd At Milwaukee County Stadium During Their “Animals” Tour. Ohhh, Myyy God!!!! IT MOVED ME SO!!! I Quite Sincerely Thank YOU With ALL My Heart And Soul, Darling One. Thank You For Posting This.
I Saw this tour twice. Rotterdam 1988 and Nijmegen 1989 in The Netherlands. Absolutely great. The show, the music, the quadrofonic sound, the crowd, my friends around and the magic of it all.
Saw this tour in 1988 at Ohio Stadium. Perfectly clear night sky. The landing flight path for the municipal airport six miles away was directly over the stadium. First passenger jet just happened to fly over while Floyd was playing Learning To Fly. About two dozen large jets flew over during the concert along with a few smaller planes. Planes descending and just high enough to not be loud but low enough to feel like part of the experience. Memorable evening.
waw it's looks like sweet dream .
Outstanding concert. Never forget it...the best.
The great David Gilmour at his best. He was Pink Floyd. If I was able to grant one person immortal status I would take him back to his thirties and let him help generations and generations of people to the best music for others. His music I have listened to for five decades. And to me it just gets better. His music should outlive humanity.
I wouldn't put Immortality on him. That would be a curse. He needs to have the right to see Jesus!
Ну ты чувак наговорил😊
I grew up on this music. In my 20s in the 70s, I wore out my vinyl Dark Side, and still have it. Sit in the dark, light a few candles, smoke a bit of grass (or ?) and crank up the volume. These guys, mainly Gilmour, became part of me. I'm 71 now and feel 21 when I hear these wondrous poets! On The Turning Away is my all time fave, and I hear it as I type this, and it still brings tears every time!! Geniuses... especially David. Unbelievable talent, now and forever!!! Thanks guys!!
@@martinwheatley3391 Say what?
Ditto! I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with every word you said!! Only diff is I'm a woman and David is extremely handsome, so there's an even added level of love there. 50+ years for me too. His TALENT and GENIUS baffle me more than ever!!
Pink Floyd is one of the greatest rock bands out there to ever play music
For sure! One of the best bands ever!
The best , they do not fit in any genre they made their own
Probably the best performance I have ever heard.... "On the Turning Away" is simply off the charts.
There's something about David Gilmour that really makes me very proud. That's to know how cool of a man he really is. David Gilmour to me has a heart of gold. And when he plays his guitar and sings well it just blows everybody's mind away. What can I say the man knows what he's doing. Thank you David Gilmour for all that you do and all that you have done. I want you to know that you'll never be forgotten and your music will live on forever.Thank you!
DAVID YOU ARE THE LEGEND
This show is a “MONSTER” Production!!!
I wish there was a way one could physically feel the energy through the tv or monitor this performance projected to the audience! This tour was phenomenal in all aspects. I was fortunate enough to catch it at an outdoor venue...so amazing to have the stars above as Comfortably Numb wails along and the mirror wall blooms into a flower. Mind blown! Thankfully those that never got to see a show will have You Tube to keep the music going for generations. Currently anticipating generation number 4 to be added to the Floyd family in 6 weeks 💖. 💎🎶🎸🎶🤘
There is a way to physically feel it. It's called penis envy, golden teachers, psilocybin cubensis and you could even add some LSD to that! If you got a nice set stack speakers and a huge screen, you can actually feel like you are actually there. I saw them them in Foxboro outdoor. A indoor arena is better the sound and the lights are much more intense inside than outside. Like when they start the first set it's already dark in there. You don't have to wait for the sun to go down. I've seen Roger Waters 5 or 6 times and indoors is definitely more intense than Outdoors. That's my personal opinion and it's only mainly because the first-set starts as if it was dark. The lights and the sound can be much mush better inside.. I've got tickets for this is not a drill on my birthday in Boston! I hope the Rona doesn't fuck my plans all up, it's my birthday. The show and then the pulse tour they did after was definitely mind blowing. The tours I saw them at Foxboro. Roger Waters redoing the wall in Boston Gardens was absolutely amazing. It was the dark side of the moon anniversary show. The only difference was the new one he did a pyramid over the whole crowd on the floor. When I saw it five years or 10 years before it. The pyramid came down from the ceiling and lit up there were able to shoot a white light out of it. Then a rainbow light out the other side and spun around the whole Boston Gardens it was amazing.
@@questioneverything42 How lucky you are to have seen Pink Floyd so many times 🤩. I saw them in Foxboro as well. It was rainy at first then heavy fog settled in. I was no way sober (certain fungi and mind bending acid). The fog made everything shimmer. Opening with SOYCD...the first notes slowly building. This was the night the pig got stuck! What a night! I had tickets for the US & Them show, but cancer treatments took that away sadly. I'll not be able to attend any more live events, but thanks to YT and a great home system I'm happy to experience it from home. A good tincture, an edible and strong medicinal MJ set the mood 😁. PS. If you are attending any shows in Boston, pay attention to the city's Corona protocol. Currently, you must be fully vaccinated and show proof or no entry. Bought tickets for my son to a show in March . At the time of purchase (December) it said vaccinated or negative test 72 hrs prior. Now it's strictly fully vaccinated with a mask or no entry. Hope you have a great Birthday at the show! Shine On 💎
How did we end up here
That truly is the question on top of my mind,Is how we Bowwed Down on the flip of a dime, Faith in the federal government was around 20%, Until this Corona came around & is grinding us down, take your time get it off your chest they offer no cures or places to rest, how did he government convince you they care, When shit like this happens you better beware, wake the fuck up & Take your head out of the sand, So you can stand shoulder to shoulder with your fellow man, if you think the government is here to save you then you're a God damn old fool. These words flow easily out of my mouth,I have found my mind & body is filled with questions and doubt. The lies that they spew are vile and sick, like a snake oil salesman whose tongue is so slick, So turn off your TV and turn on your mind, We are coming to the pathway where there's a fork in the line, it will soon be your decision to make, do you stand with all of humanity, or all the people that are fake, these government politicians say they're telling the truth, they act like they're above us and they show their obtuse, it all comes down to how we really feel, This country was made for us it's a big fucken deal, So letting them decide for us which right's they'll shall steal, I'd say stand with Humanity cuz this is not a good deal, You are all the chosen ones if choose to be, Something bigger than yourself is being A part of humanity, so take your 13 evil families desires, cut them up into little pieces and throw them in the fire.: S Goedecke
