    Oh my gosh you SHOULD be proud of those impatiens!! This is my first year planting impatiens seeds …. Can’t wait to collect the seeds this fall! You have been such a huge help in teaching me how to make my planting go further and further. Thank you! ❤

      Thank you, Martha! How are you Impatiens plants looking? This weather has been crazy. I know our last average last frost date is still a few weeks away, but I'm so tempted to plant out some of my annuals... Ugh! 😂💐

      Thanks so much! I'd love to hear an update on how your Impatiens cuttings do. Just keep the water fresh and the cuttings out of direct sunlight. Happy gardening, friend! 🌸💕

    I didn't realize that impatiens could be started from cuttings. I love free plants!! Thank you!

      Hi Cynthia! I love free plants too. It's the best feeling, isn't it? Definitely give it a try! ♥🌺

    I"m a huge impatiens fan! I love the mixed colour look. It never occurred to me that you could take cuttings for propagation. My kids loved to 'pop' the seed pods when they were little.

      Hi Maureen. I must admit... I myself love popping Impatiens seed pods, too! 🤣 Definitely give propagating Impatiens cuttings a try. It's super easy and very satisfying! ♥🌸

      You are very welcome! I love plants that root easily in water like Impatiens, Basil, etc. So much fun and a great way to make more plants! 😊🌸

    So beautiful! I love impatiens in the spring and early summer, but they just quit blooming in the hot summer where I live in humid 6b.

      Thank you! Can you try planting them in a shady area of your garden to see how they do there? I love Impatiens too, especially when they are in a big grouping. ♥🌺

    I’ve become addicted to propagating!!!! I can’t tell you how many begonias I have done. Lol.
    Inpatiens so far I haven’t had as much success but definitely still getting some new babies. ❤ Do you this away the blooms that you’ve cut off that haven’t opened? Didn’t know if they will have viable seeds that will dry out?
    Edit: after watching this, maybe I’ve been making my cuttings too small. I usually cut the less hardy stems off the main stem to do.

      I like to make sure that my cuttings are a little bigger so that I can strip off a number of bottom leaves and all those leaf nodes are areas where roots may grow. It's also a good idea to remove any buds and blooms from the cuttings so that the cuttings put their energy into making roots. I hope that helps. 💗🌸

    Beautiful, I started seeds indoor the first time, but sadly on one germinated. 😞

      Sorry to hear that only one seed germinated. Definitely don't give up on them. This fall and winter, I'll be doing a lot more videos on how to collect Impatiens seeds and start them indoors as it's a very popular plant and I want everyone to have success with growing them from seed. ♥

    I took dozens of cuttings from my impatiens last year, to over winter, and they did great. I’m curious if you pinch them at any point, and if so when, to make them bushier. Or will they just fill in on their own.

    • @budgetgardeningvita
      @budgetgardeningvita  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi there! I love that you took cuttings to overwinter some plants. Great idea! I don't usually pinch back my Impatiens. It's probably a good idea to help them get bushy but they usually bush out on their own once they get planted in the landscape. 😊🌺

    Great video, just bought a 6 pack of impatiens, going to take some cuttings and try to multiply that! How long do you typically wait after planting in soil to transplant to the garden?

    • @budgetgardeningvita
      @budgetgardeningvita  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Jessie! Wonderful! I typically wait about 2 weeks just so that the plant can create some more roots. However, if your weather is cool and rainy for days, you can try planting the rooted Impatiens plants directly out into the garden. I wouldn't do it though if it's hot and sunny. It would be too stressful on the plant. 😊🌺
