Richard, These videos are fantastic. If you haven't already, check out Dan Huff's playing on Angel with a Dirty Face by Lou Gramm. Incredible rhythm and solo work.
That was, as always, a brilliant explanation. I often get around the modal approach by only applying the characteristic note that belongs to a particular mode (in e.g.: #4 if I want the Lydian flavor), but that of course givers you a narrower vocabulary. Your approach is inspiring, you should do more on that
Solo as always sounded great. Great info too. I am pretty sure I need a looper pedal unless there is a site I can go to play me a backing track so I can mess with these mode ideas? Anyone know any? Cheers in advance.
Thanks man! I would definitely recommend getting a looper - I'm planning on picking one up myself imminently! In the meantime, there are plenty of modal backing tracks on CZcams, some good ones... some not so much! I'll working on a backing track package which will be released within the next couple of months.
@@RichardWatson Cheers Richard, I was watching your landau episode 1. I think I need to start a drone chord so I can work on training my ears to hear dorian lydian mixo, your last 2 videos have really helped me and reinvigorated my quest. thanks again.
Very cool Richard. Love this idea
Thanks Howie!

I’m interested in that acoustic guitar. Do you mind telling us what brand/model that is? I’m clearly easily distracted. Ha!
Sure, man! It's a Taylor 514CE from 1999!
