OMG! That second game actually made me snort laugh. You didn’t even kill any of his units and he rage quit.
Protoss detection is expensive and late compared to the other races.
Protoss can literally be unable to recover from the wrong build order.
@@Technoanima also Terrans can repair their detection structure while builduing it and Zerg can heal theirs if they have no scv's or queens left the game is already over anyway. Protoss has to already have a shield battery or two to be able to keep a cannon alive while it's being constructed.

5:51 it is the most disgusting cheese because the fact that you cannot see the thing that is killing you. It just psychologically has different effect. The DT slashing sound just adds a cherry on top. Banshees don't have that effect because of the slashing.
And the damage to boot. It's a combo of all of these things for sure. Cloaked Banshees are annoying. Sudden Dark Templars just hit different.
For real. Huge difference between getting bombed and slashed to death by something you can't see.
I do love the sparkly shooting effect from the invisible Banshee's, looks absolutely terrifying too.
@@proutytyler1 Banshees also can't hit as early - you need to wait for banshees and cloak to finish (whereas DTs can be used as soon as the DT shrine is built because of warp gate), and you hit with more of them since you'll have more gateways than a terran has starports. Rushing banshees is really more for harassing most of the time, rushing DTs is often about outright ending the game.

@@AvidSniperjuggling all of the pieces together so cleanly when the build is loosely theory crafted in your head but never been practiced is pretty impressive, even for an ex pro IMHO
The levels of mind games that uThermal employs is a huge differences from those people who simply do any kind of a rush. He makes you really think you're facing off against regular attacks but then you find out there are DTs in your base and there's nothing you can do.
It's the mind games that make this rush so successful. The War Prism iteration was amazing too.

I would love a fake timing attack by saving some sentry energy and hallucinating some extra adepts or a couple immortals in a stalker push, only to surprise with dts or some other cheesy nonsense.

Ah, DT's....... I used to love using a combination of them and Phoenix's, after seeing Beastyq doing that as a challenge. It's surprisingly effective, since first they're trying to counter the Phoenix's, and then suddenly DT's come charging into their base....loved seeing them in action again

Just for those that are now going to have to deal with every other game being a DT rush, what is the cheapest detection you can go for fast enough to stop this that won't ruin your build completely? Is a cannon enough? Is an oracle fast enough?
