The last guy needs new friends. My moms hairdresser would never give me the perm hair cut I would ask for. I couldn't hardly even get a pick through my hair when she was done. Once I graduated high school I never let her or any other hairdresser give me a perm.
I remember I was in Japan and literally and BEGGED the hairdresser for a japanese perm. However, my hair was bleached, so he stayed adamant, saying "NO, but I can iron your hair and treat with products, so it stays straight for some days"
This was a very good japanese hairdresser, and he could even speak english nicely. I was in a random salon in Shinjuku

Not a hairdresser, but having worked in customer service, I understand that customers can be *very* insistent and it's so easy to just give in. I really respect the stylists that stand firm against bad client requests.
I lived in Japan for three years and perms are popular over there. They do have amazing fashion. Beautiful place, I miss it so much

I was 15, I went to a salon, what did I know?
I suffered permanent hair loss.
The immediate result was disastrous and horrible to look at.
Of course, they knew better... they just wanted to make money.
I walked out without paying, but my grandma paid for the service.
He is so fortunate to be able to have a 'high and tight' and look great.

I'm in absolute agreement with you Hair Buddha. We as hairstylists need to inform our clients about what is best for their hair. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't; but we should always be in the right by informing our clients on what is best.

These perm fails really make me respect my mom’s hair styling abilities. She somehow, at home by herself, permed her butt length hair multiple times. It was always really good. I just thought perms were easy until watching these fails.

I'm 49, so perms were huge when I was younger. I went to the salon when I was 19 to get a fresh perm for my first semester of college. It only curled maybe half of my hair, but the stylist said she could reperm it and protect my hair at the same time. I told her that I didn't want my hair to fall out, and she promised me that wouldn't happen.
I should have known better, but I trusted her. I shouldn't have. I ended up having to get my hair cut - it started out halfway down my back, and I wound up with a stacked bob so short that they used clippers on the back of my head.
That was my last perm. 😁
I used to get perms in the 80's to tame my thick frizzy hair and didn't know I actually have curly hair. Now I get the relaxed ringlets I always wanted from those perms but naturally. I will say it's a lot more effort to style curly hair properly than to get perms. My hair is healthier though without the chemical damage.
Agree that a stylist should inform you on what's right and wrong with your hair. I just got a haircut and asked for it too be thin out the stylist told me it's not a good idea to do it at this time.
It wasn't until my twenties that a stylist told me I should not get layers as it will make my hair look thinner!

Haha! Men and perms in the 80s. The first thing my uncle did when he got divorced. Permed his hair. We made it our duty to never let him forget that dark time in his hair history. Hahaha
My dad got body perms regularly through the late 90s to “thicken” his hair because his hairdresser convinced him to. Looked terrible 😂
The prank perm people are just the absolute worst. If I were that guy, I'd never trust those people ever again. Poor guy.
One of my biggest memories from growing up was the smell of my grandmothers perm lol🤢 the egg smell haha. I'm so glad she stopped that a long time ago. Anyways, my day was hell and I needed this! So thank you! You always put a bit of life back inside this little black heart💕 lol

The only reason I can see for getting a perm is to make thin hair look fuller. It's quite popular with senior ladies that have thin hair. You can easily temporarily put curls in straight hair with curlers or a iron.
I never laughed this hard in quite awhile!!! That poor guy. If my friends did that to me,well let's just say they wouldn't be laughing for long!!! It was still hilarious🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

To be honest, even my mother always warned me of perms xD
But yeah, it was the job of the hairdresser to say no. My hairdresser is always saying what is possible and not and will stay hard when something isn't possible.

when i was in a foster home my foster mom cut my hair till i had a very short boys cut. then she decided she should perm it, needless to say i looked like a white "fresh prince of Bel-Air". my hair wouldn't lay down for a month. I have serious trust issues about who messes with my hair now.

P.s. I had a tight perm when I was 15, my mum did it and I went upstairs and conditioned it straight away so it was relaxed.

My hair never took perms. Especially the front pieces that framed my face, they would go straight in two days and the rest would just turn into a slight bend in my hair. I finally gave up trying them and wrecking my hair for no reason.

Feeding my newborn baby early in the morning and I saw some uploaded hair buffs videos to watch! Yippee!
I had a spiral perm in the 80s or early 90s when they were popular, but the ends of my hair remained straight while the rest was curly. As that started to grow out, I wanted it straight again, so I had a permanent straightening done. My hair just ended up really frizzy. A few years ago I had a keratin treatment done. It had a wave, but not necessarily a nice wave pattern. However, all the little white hairs on my head, new growth, didn’t take the treatment. So I had somewhat wavy/straight hair with little white kinky strands sticking out all over the top of my head. I really don’t have much luck with any sort of chemical treatment.

As a guy with pink hair, I agree that we need more video attention fails or not but I do understand that there are less of us changing hair color compared to females.
I learned a lot.
Those apple perms. Because I colored my hair, my hairdresser used one. It was a huge fail. My hair was resistant to begin with, and the apple perm was a waste of time and money. May as well have used water, to perm my hair. I will say though that the apple perms had a pleasant odor, unlike regular perm solution.

My precious soul mate cat has Kidney Failure and I got super brave to put her down because it has gotten so bad. I called 3 places and they wanted 161$ at Animal Control and a vet wants 191$ ! Freaking heck all I want is to do what is right by her. Plus she is 15yrs old. Sorry about the rant. So hard when an animal goes through unessacary pain. Unethical. Maudites ignorant. Sorry I am French so lol.

In the late 80s early 90s I used to have a Vavoom (perm) used on natural and then my highlighted hair.
It was to last 6 weeks, but on me it would last more than three to 4 months.
The hair dressers were so amazed how the Vavoom took to my hair.
the beauty ppl back home would perm w bleach n cut out the bad.. im with u. never seen it go well..
So out of curiosity, what happens if you explain to your client that a certain style or colour won't work and they say "doesn't matter, do it anyway" ? Would you refuse to do it or try the best you can? I love your videos!! I prefer you to Brad Mondo 🤫
