In September 2021, Terracon put Leica DD120 electrical detection wands on all 140 drill rigs in our fleet. These wands don’t replace 8-1-1 or private utility locate services. They were provided as a last line of defense against underground utility strikes to help keep our drill crews safe. Terracon has had so many success stories with the wands on our drill rigs, Terracon’s leadership team made the commitment to have wands in all our operations and to always use them immediately before any mechanical groundbreaking takes place. Terracon's purchased over 400 of these wands that don’t increase production, don’t increase revenue, and don’t improve the quality of our work. They have one purpose - to keep Terracon's employee-owners and those partners who work with Terracon safe.
