Thank you for mentioning the importance of supporting the community by purchasing things along the way. Too many people are concerned to save money bc âHawaii is expensiveâ...but being respectful while you visit and supporting the local community is so important. â„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïž
This was a great tour! Thank you!
great video ~ thank you so much for all the tip :) can't wait to see more from you
Very helpful. Thanks a lot!!
hi..great video...loved watching and sharing maui's great views...
This video was super beneficial and helped incredibly for my planning this year, thanks!
Excellent!!!! Thanks đ
This sure brings back Maui memories for me. I've driven on the spectacular Hana highway a few times and stayed in a Hana vacation house called the Hana Napualani Inn. My goodness, that Hana drive had some truly otherworldly, CRAZY-looking tropical features all over the place!
So helpful Josh ! Thanks
Wow.. this is so beautiful and amazing.. beauty of the nature.. đđđ
Another great one! Thank you!
Loved it! mahalo! i love hawaii! i have been there a lot of time.
Excellent đ„°đ„°đ„°a savior of my time đđŒ
Beautiful places thanks for sharing nice video đ
Thanks for the videos, i'am planning Hawaii trip in September and this is very good ideas to do in Maui.
Thanks for this! I am going to use for my maui trip :)
Love waterfalls. been to Maui twice, never had the chance to photograph them yet. mahalo
This is so AMAZING đ Mahalo đ„° so informative, beautiful video coverage. I miss the lunch plates. đŻđ„°
Awesome thanks
This was really good and informative.
My wife and I got back from Maui almost a week ago. I had never been to Hawaii before. We had so much fun and enjoyed so much beauty. Along our drives we stopped off at small indie general stores buying up what we could. I checked an entire suitcase back to the mainland filled with hot sauces, banana breads, coffee and snacks. We supported the local breweries as well by guzzing down gallons of delicious beers. I'll never forget that trip as long as I live. Kauai is next on our list. We didn't make the drive to Hana as you mentioned is very long but we will next time. Great video. Mahalo!
Great video !!!
Awesome video !!
Thanks for watching đ
My best friend, Excellent video! Keep it up! I had to see the full video, as always, Keep it up! +thumb up3!
Love this! So helpful ! How early can you visit Twin falls ?
The Twin Falls stand opens at 8am. I try and get there around then to buy some banana bread and support the land owners. Not sure if they allow people earlier then that. Aloha
i miss hawaii :')
Wow! I cannot wait! My wife is taking me here for my 30th birthday. We've been to Oahu and got married there. Although we want to go back to Oahu we thought it would be best to experience another island and go back to Oahu with the kids. Looks like we're going to keep a very busy day on this road so won't plan anything else on the same day. haha Hawaii is truly amazing as well as the people. We wasn't ready to go back home. Our kids and I still talk about the day of returning back. It'll always hold a special place in our hearts since that is where my wife and I became one. I look forward to trying to coconut shrimp and fries at the Market Place.
What shoes do you wear for hiking in the mud and along the trails?
Hi! could you please let us know which places are closed later? Or where can I check this information? Thanks a lot. Great video.
Hey Josh great video, it is my understanding that you now need a reservation in the state park. If one was to leave about 8 oâclock to start their journey and make multiple stops on the way not all of them but multiple when do you think would be the best time to make a reservation at the state park? They have from 7:30 to 1030, 1030 to 1230, 1230 to 3 PM? Just wondering how long it would take to get there with stops. Thanks so much for your help.
How early do you recommend to wake up? We are staying in Kihei. And also I heard its better to do the reverse road to Hana. Start in Kula and finish in Pa'ia, is this true?
Can you talk about the roads? I'm really anxious about driving in Maui. Especially leaving out early in the am to explore the beautiful island or coming back late
The roads are quite safe and people drive with aloha. I recommend that you if youâre sightseeing pull over for locals so they done get stuck waiting on their daily commute. Take your time and youâll have a great time
Me too @ nervous.... and aldo excited. I'm venturing this solo in a couple of weeks.
DEFINATLEY Take food on the road to Hana. Its a gamble if the one restaurant will be open. Also the Pipiwai Trail is LONG and if you go later in the day like his suggestion you will not get back before Dark.
I heard there might not be any parking along the road for Venus Pond due to construction. Is that true? Did you have any problems going to the Venus pond? Also love your videos, thanks. Very helpful for planning our Hana trip in July.
There is very limited parking. I recommend going on the way back when thereâs barely anyone else around
Thereâs parking there. The street parking along the fence is no longer allowed. Theres someone who offers paid parking a little ways down. However, the residents of HÄna donât support people traveling to Waioka (Venus Pond) as it requires you trespass to access the area.
Unfortunately Hana Ranch Restaurant is operated by Hyatt corporation and DO NOT support locals at all (sad). Your much better off going to Bruddah Hut or Tony's Place food trucks. Tony's Place is the newest and best discoveries I found in Hana great local food and amazing ambience on the property down from Hamoa Beach. Tony's place is next to Caroline's Fruit Stand.
Thanks for letting us know!
Uhhh I imagine many locals work there.
@@AARDFD Uhh yeah and they have a guaranteed paycheck. The family owned food trucks DO NOT. Support local owned!
@@jf1890 hhh, you can go to both- and what gives you the right to tell people what they should do?
We will have 2 people with us that are not able to walk that good. Which sites/locations would you recommend based off of that? Someone said to turn around at the black sand beach, because the road ahead is pretty bad. Windy rough roads
Where do you recommend to stay or what hotel on the road to Hana? Going in a week :)
I stayed here last time I overnighted in Hana. www.hanakaimaui.com/ enjoy đ
What app do you recommend to
Download?
I'm planning a day trip in a couple of weeks. I'm taking the first flight in to Maui. I'm wondering how much time I should give myself for the travel on the Road to Maui? I know that could vary depending on how many stops I make. I am looking for a rough estimate in order to book my flight back to HNL.
Most people give an entire day to the Road to Hana. I left at the crack of dawn and didnât get back till late in the evening while making this video. I suggest you pick and choose your locations and take your time. It will easily take all day
Can you buy a pass on the road that will also be good for Haleakala? Or do you need to get the Haleakala pass first?
Any udates on whats closed? Many stops are closed I heard?
đ„°đ„°đ„°đ„°
Josh I have stopped at #3 several times and if the water is not running crazy we have got across the stream/river however we can never seem to locate the waterfall and the swing or rope ladder. Do you have a map by chance? I can see the field from the patch of hidden eucalyptus trees at the corner and I realize that field is actually the falls but can't ever find them once I enter the bamboo forest.
Aloha Josh!
Please do not mention the kailua bamboo forest. It has been serious problem for us residents on the Esatend of Mau. Visitors all park on pullover spots that were made for us residents to have them pullover so we can pass them. It, has been a major serious issue for us for over 30 years and with all u people that put on a video to go Hana, makes us residents even more angry and
Upset. There's all more people that puts out their own videos about the Hana trip and, u all tell them to go where their not suppose to go ( CAUSE IT'S DANGEROUS AND ILLEGAL TO DO SO.
SO, PLEASE RESPECT OUR AINA AND OUR PRESIOUSE
RESOURES, CULTURE AND THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN PEOPLE THAT COME FROM THE ISLAND OF MAUI.
11:49 . MAHALO,
WENDY AKUNA MIGUEL OF WAILUA-NUI, KEANAE
With the ridiculous rental car traffic there's going to be a lot more than 20 stops
Good video, but you should mention mile markers.
How difficult is the pipiwai trail hike?
All depends on if youâre an avid hiker. Iâd call it a medium hike but if youâre new to hiking I might call it strenuous
I see why people bring their own food though-- those prices seen in the video are outrageous! Talking about taking advantage of the tourists.
YES. That's Hawaii.
hi
It seems like the bamboo trail hike is now closed. :(
Thanks for the update
I knew that children and teachers were killed in Laupahoehoe on the island of Hawaii but I never knew about the ones on Maui.
The Garden of Eden is worth the 15.00. Mahalo
Gates are open from 9 AM to 5 PM now.
I went to the Garden of Eden and charged $40, it was me, my husband my 3 & 5 year old.
Worth it?
It's a big mistake to rush through it all. Start early, find the right stops, get high and enjoy.
Where's the Pakalolo in Maui?
ive seen videos tourists die at venus ponds? Maybe we shd leave that alone and keep it sacred.
Please please please listen to me! Do NOT drive around the entire island just do 1/2 way. Itâs brutal, dangerous ( super dangerous), long, and an anxiety attack waiting to happen. You WILL BE ON SMALL TINY GRAVEL ROAD. The curves are so dangerous that a head on collision đ„ can easily happen. Hawaiians that donât like tourists purposely drive super fast on the road where you should be going 5 miles an hour. They zip past you at 60 miles an hour! The road isnât big enough for 2 cars. Rental car agencies may void your contract ( rumor has it) if you take your car there ( cuz itâs off roading).. I recommend going 1/2 way and then please do yourself a favor and turn back around!!! I made the mistake of finishing it and I regret it! Itâs over 600 windy roads, over 49 or 59 one way bridges, small tiny roads, 90 degree turns ( many of them). Please donât do it! And do not drive in the dark! Itâs not safe!
Stick to the approved nature trails with brown signs from the DLNR, County, or US Parks. And stop it with the Venus ponds. Can nothing stay sacred? Does every last piece of Maui have to be given to the tourists? And itâs Keâanae (Kay-a-nye). And itâs HULI (who-lee) chicken. Ever wonder where locals go to get away from tourism that they are beholden to every day? Yeah, weâre wondering too since all those places are now for the tourists.
I think he has some great points & recommendations here, however there are locations that require people to trespass... & encouraging others to go there shouldnât be done.
Get over it, goof. I live in Florida and see PLENTY of tourists but donât pretend everything is âsacredâ. How idioticâŠ
@@AARDFD I didn't mean sacred as in holy (although...). I meant it in a colloquial way. I'm just saying, many of the spots that were shown, were generally only known to people that live here until about 5-10 years ago. It was a slow build up so that now it's never even worth it to go. There were plenty of spots already taken by tourosts... and cool, ok, but bamboo forest, venus pools, and 13 crossings were ours. I swear, there are no secret spots left anymore.
Being from Florida, when i was a kid in the 70s, Blue Springs and innertubing on the Ichetucknee had nothing to do with Disney or Daytona tourists. Now I look up videos of some of our old secret watering holes of my childhood and they're f*cking choked with tourists.
Theres a few spots that should be reserved for local childhood memories. On maui, we already give almost everything over to tourism. I get it..., "the economy".I line here too, after all. But I'm just saying videos like these rob us of the few remaining spots without tourists. Or mass amounts of them. Most arent even there to enjoy the place. They just see other rental.cars and get fear-of-missing-out syndrome.and choke up the roads and shoulders. Who wears their whitest tourist outfit to a muddy watering hole? No one, but we can no park and go there anymore cause a tourist, all in white, needs a selfie of 50 identical rental cars on the side of the road.
Paige get over yourself sister it's not Your Island miss local pants.
