I work with artists on writing their statement. It is vexing. I think you’ve made some wonderful points, esp the history of this kind of statement. It makes so much sense that the artist statement arose in the mid-century. Artists make things for their audience to decode and interpret what they see. As an artist myself, I have given some terrible advice. I have told told artists to tell their story and to say why they make art. The results were confusing and convoluted writing. So, I’ll just have artists look at your video, myself included. Thanks
This might be the only sense I've ever heard about the artist "statement." Good to hear it.
Thank you so much. I hope i can do the artist statement justice with your advice 😍💐
This explanation is gold! Thank you.
Very good advice. I try to find your artist statement but I can find. Do you have yours Artist Statement just to see example? Or can you give an example? This can be very helpful.
this is the information I so greatly needed!

It seems strange that people critique an artists statement about their own art... Artist's create for themselves first and foremost and if an artist wishes to make a statement about it, then that's up to them. If not, then that's cool too. It's not a must and I don't think there should be any rules around it either other than perhaps being polite to a general degree.
This might be the only sense I've ever heard about the artist "statement." Good to hear it.
