From time to time I get gifts sent to me often with out any warning
My CZcams contract says that they could be deemed as payed promotions
Due to the nature of me doing vids daily mostly in a hurry
I feel itâs best so not to fall foul of contract so I will now just add the hash tag #paidpromotion to all my vids This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated
#yourharvest
As someone who watches but never comments I think it's about time I said thank you, for quality content and the daily updates. Thanks Ollie, and team!
I try to comment most days and at least up vote anyone who says how they are as a percentage.
I appreciate that! Thank you
You upload more than I can whatch. Take a yellow trailer? They were all yellow đđcracking one again
Well worth a visit to the ploughing championship Ollie a lot of Irish farmers enjoy your honest options on tillage farming and good knowledge of farming practice đźđȘđźđȘđźđȘ
If you get a chance to go to the Irish ploughing match it is the most mental show you will ever go to imagine putting cereals, a beer festival, the highland show, a beer festival, a wet Glastonbury with more mud in the middle of no where with a Mickey Mouse road system of single track roads and youâve got half of it. It is brilliant and really good if your stand flooded in the mud and they do they just move your stand mid show. No jobs worth stewards really positive. The lady that runs it and makes the announcements will honestly remind you of an Irish super grannie! You must go if you get chance
Good to catch a glimpse of your Dad on grain dryer duty.đ
When I was younger I spent many hours with my stepfather on the farm he worked on picking wild oats, brings back memories
Wild oats always were pulled by hand (rouging) years ago. Despite sprays it was definitely the most effective way of controlling them. Andrew Ward still pulls wild oats by hand when pulling black grass.
My stepdad still pulls wild oats by hand - as does your mate Wardy!
When I was 16 some 27 years ago, me and some friends had a job for a local farmer picking Wild Oats.
Love your combine because of the money it helped raise last year on the run. Will be a sad day when you swop it. John's a honoured man been the main driver this year. Keep up the good work . 95%
also in denmark. we have to pull op wild oats. if we dont do. we can get at fine
Absolutely worth going to The Ploughing Olly, though you need more than 1 day to do it justice - Europe's largest outdoor show. I heard they use 600 acres minimum.
My old man pulls wild oats by hand. Good to see the kit at work. 85% thanks and take care.
In Norway you are required by law to keep 20 meters next to the bordering field clean of wild oats (we call them flying oats, since the seeds are so light they can be carried a distance by wind). Either by spraying or pulling by hand.
Thats was "fun" as children running around picking wild oats.
Occasionally putting coffee grinds in that fridge box over night will absorb the smell.
Have you tried one of the high level mowing machines that collects the heads of the wild oats into a box that can be emptied into a trailer and carted away for destruction
very enjoyable video Olly Thank you. Combine looking fantastic, did you ever look into making models of it with all the sign writing on them.
That barley must be very low on nitrogen content, as the higher the nitrogen the grayer the inside of the barley kernel becomes, In old times the whiskey industry before all the fancy machines to test the nitrogen level in malting barley used to cut the grain in half ,a bit like you just did and see how white it was inside the whiter the better, and more suitable for malting barley and the bigger the premium price, after watching the video feeling 90%, keep up the great work
Hi Olly, received my hoodie (#146) today. Only a week for delivery... not bad considering it takes two weeks for a letter (express post) to arrive from Melbourne, which is 600km away!! Always watch your blogs when I get home from work and never fast forward through the birthdays. Massive thanks to Ian as well. 80% today due to the 100km/h winds and rain which will continue for the next few days.
Did you see PX farms video yesterday with a drone shot of 4 Claas combines and 4 Fendt 942's with chaser bins in one field. An impressive shot.
Oh Olly, please come over for the Ploughing đ
I can remember when the wives of the farm hands went down the fields and picked the wild oats, I did that also to get pocket money! Barley was the worst! lol
Valtra Spools: because you can place them like you want. Like fendt previous to FendtOne where the plugs had colours but the levers all have been blue.
On the valtras with manual controls they have coloured levers and same colour plugs
Hi olly definitely a great show to go to,your most welcome,a lot of fans there plus a lot of new ones on the wings,we can have you collected at the airport, only a hop from Liverpool, prob need 2 days
Delighted to see that you are getting on with the harvest not like here in Donegal where it seems to rain all the time.
Back in the 80s, we used to work on the local farm picking wild oat's.happy day's
Yes Olly, the machinery looks absolutely brilliant, if only the yields were higher. It must be so frustrating to sit down and work out the true value of the harvested crop / against what itâs actually cost to prepare the ground, purchase and sow the seeds, spraying chemicals as necessary, machinery maintenance / depreciation costs, oil and fuel (adblue etc), labour costs. Do farmers ever actually make any money?? đ€đ§đđ€ Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide us with brilliant quality videos / daily blogs. đđđ
Not for last few years
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer Unfortunately thatâs what I thought Olly - it must be so hard, - I personally have nothing to do with farming (aged 67 and retired) but I do own several vintage tractors and equipment and love the farming way of life, I really feel for you having put all the work in, taking all the risks and not making enough out of it to make it pay!! đđđ ((I also hate pigeons and cyclists. đ)
I suppose that the old ways if pulling wild oats by hand are no longer being done, it's got to be cheaper on days when nothing can be done on the farm, eventually the wd oats can be eradicated if they are not so prevalent, 60 years ago I remember pulling wild oats by hand with my dad and we did get rid of them after a while,
Another good film from you Olly, stay healthy and as we say in norfolk 'keep you on a troshin'
Gary
Olly , put a wild oat seed in the palm of your hand, pick one with a long awn just wet it and it will start to move and roll over , around in your palm.
You could demonstrate this in your video tomorrow it is a very clever little seed .
Hey Ollie, I think you should look for a chaser bin to keep trailers off the ruts. Maybe one on demo with the quad track đ€
It doesnât have a PTO
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer Shame it doesnât. Wish there was a self powered chaser bin run by GPS following combines.
Yes to the Irish Ploughing Championship. One day is still a long and great day.
Wild oats are a pain we used to rogue them Had a good weekend at the. Tractor Pulling good seeing you all pity Sunday had to be cancelled but the weather awful Been carting wheat straw out of Yorkshire today been a lovely day over there today Theyâve had a good harvest this conditions have been loads better than round are way There winter crops have been good but conditions last year must have been good for establishment feeling 95%today and Olly brilliant video.
That little rubber thing is the top of a vape no stress đ€Ł đš
Oli, yes a trip to Ireland to The Ploughing Championship will be worth it, more than just Ploughing. Rita đźđȘ p.s you have a big irish fan base here
Great video Olly , great finishing shot of the Valtra & the combine. Its a shame the yields aren't better after all the hard work has gone into it. 85% Today .
I spent a week roguing barley so I'm chuffed when i see wild oats in somebody else's crops!đ They multiply so fast
Another great video Ollie and as usual have to admire your honesty.
I am following on youtube some US farmers as well. So, one guy said their wild oats got resistant to herbicides and now there is no means to get rid of it on their fields. And your field looks way better compared to theirs, which resembled a stormy sea of wild oats in the winds with, visually, at least 50/50 ratio between the weed and the wheat cultivated.
The Valta is a great looking tractor.
80% today long day at work.
Great video Olly you definitely need to get a demo of one of those top cutters, to cut out the black grass and oats and to save, them getting into the sample đđ
in the 80s and 90s i spent days and days pulling up wild oats and i had to bag them as well
You need to go to the ploughing - youâll not regret it.
When I was a teenager we used to rogue the fields by hand for oats and ragwort 90%
When I was on the farm when I was younger my boss had use picking wild oats for weeks
Nothing better than seeing claas lexion harvesting love that machine đđđ
Hi Olly great video and very informative I've seen spaniels get a wild oats seed head in there pad and it has killed the dog đąđą...đđđ40%
Definitely worth the trip the greatest show on earth đ
Good video đ I remember you drilling that field in wet condition.
Used to pull wild oats in the quiet weeks before harvest, simple and it worked
I just watched "Climate the movie,,,the cold truth" its very educational Ollie,,,,id be interested to hear your opinion as farmers lives are centered around weather.......
Good to see the combine running.
My boss would be me going picked up the wild out after the field spent hours rogue wild oats my time
Companion crop đđ
Well worth going to the Irish ploughing championship. Itâs a massive show
Terrific dialysis so 125%. Plus real free-range eggs from another patient.
Mostly dry but still a getting better sort of a day.
7 yellow cars, one orange, one purple and a blue Valtra!
A blue one đ€Šââïž
Hi Olly love watching your videos I find them so educational IAM feeling about 90% i just wanted to ask if I am aloud to copy your pictures on your calendar for a harvest display at my church keep up the good work
Stuart Sheppard
nice woork on the farm well done
We used to spend hours picking wild oats
Great video Olly
In the good old days, kids used to earn pocket money by "roughing (hand picking)" wild oats but not a more it seems. Can it be controlled effectively by spraying?
I assume the SB is a malting variety, white inside gives an indicator with the nitrogen content of the grain,Have to be careful you can take the wild Oats to another field and start spreading them,we had a field once that was covered in them, took several years and spraying to reduce numbers,if you light a match behind a wild oats the the leg will walk the oat from the flame
All looks good olly, have you seen the px Farms and the low electric wires, I could see you have wires which are low as well.
Another excellent farm based video
As a non farmer, it always holds my attention how you unload the combine on the move, I get the combine sets the speed, but the size of modern trailers how do you manage to equally fill the trailer with the limited movement of the spout on some machines, it applies to cutting/collecting silage, those spouts are shorter than your combine
Great job, great team, great video
Thanks olly
It looks more difficult than it actually is. The combine/ forager is the lead, the trailer driver gets it central so the auger is in the middle of the trailer ( different for a forager).
The tractor driver should firstly put half a tank at the front of the trailer to put some weight on the drawbar/rear wheels to enable better traction.
Then fill up from the rear while you can see it then head your way to the front of the trailer.
When foraging your traveling a lot faster, same principle as grain but because you are traveling faster the ground conditions help settle the silage better in the trailer.
In both operations it ideal if the tractor driver stays in a straight line, both the spout on the combine and the deflectors on a forager are at the flick of a switch if any adjustment is needed...đ
Me and my mates use to pick wild oats to make pocket money when i we younger,
When I was a young lad I'm 50 now we pulled wild oats out by hand . For ÂŁ1 an hour
looks bloody good strawv if you get it dry and baled
Oh Iâve spent a good few afternoons pulling wild oats đł
For the ruts maybe could try putting camera at the bottom and show the top instead of a top down view... Nice video again.. â€
great video olly
Hi olly when unloading on the move it much easier for the combine driver to load the trailer he can see and change his speed and he has the off switch đ
Yer I prefer that leave trailer constant
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer đ
I still had pull wild oats in seed crops
Any problems with Ergot in wheat/barley? Had to reject a load of Barley today, first time in 14 years
Mullet spike!!! đ€đ€đ€
Though hands are working hands
British National Ploughing Championships & Country Festival, to be held on the Thoresby Estate, Nottinghamshire, NG22 9EQ on 12th & 13th October 2024.
13:39 great content again
Pretty certain the colour coding onnthe valmet is the same as thent7 new Holland. You can program them indifferent orders?
Was lucky not to loose the CAC bars reversing
Typical VALTRA problem is washer pipes blowing off
What did your sample look like with all the oats in it and are you able to clean it up much?
How many full time staff do you employ at the moment and is that all year round??
Olly , can you control the tractor from the combine ie , distance away and vary speed to fill trailer??
Is there a mechanical way of ckearing the wild oats seeing as they are lot taller than the crop?
If any one of you guys smoke a vape that little rubber thing u found in the cool box looks like the tip off the end of the pod or vape
95%had a long weekend away
As a teenager ( 40+ years ago), I was employed by a local farmer to go wild oat picking. Does that still happen?
In seed crops yer
good way to to cause you to have a brain fart lol.
Did u do de job with the mid-digger or did you forget about it
đđđŸđ
Which one of your chaps vapes thatâs what that rubber things off I think

Rob
I have a small field of spring wheat for wholecrop.......planted end of may........heads have started to form and strengthen but the leaves are turning yellow........whats the issue?
Is it dry or disease?
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer dont know .....its a new venture for me!
Do you not rogue for wild oats?
Is there a business to be had doing farmers cab valets?đ€
Yer
Hi75% only,
72.7% today
Accurate
Still hate railway crossings after a dangerous and scary experience with one after being told it was safe to cross
Same here
Whoever you sell that straw too, will now have wild oats in there fields too, once muck is spread on fields.
Wrong in my opinion, but maybe it's normal practice in England.
Donât bother coming over.
Good job you dont run Massey tractors, guarantee one would break down on the railway line!!!!
Great video Olly
