Hello, in this video I will explain what i bonds are and why you would buy them. I also explain how the interest calculations work and what my bonds are worth 15 months later.

Last October I bought $10k worth of series i bonds from the US treasury. After 15 months it is finally time to sell them!!! If you sell i bonds before 5 years time, you are penalized on the last three months of interest 😔. I wanted 1 year worth of interest, that is why I waited 15 months. The current rates for when I bought mine are 3.38% since mine had no fixed interest rate. My brokerage account pays 5% apy so I am going to transfer the money over there.
Hope you enjoy this explanation and first hand view of "redeeming" the i bonds. The money will be in my bank account in 2 days! (from time of filming, it's already there)
