Man, I have been trying to sort this out for months, and have tried half a dozen different methods...wish I'd come across your video right off the bat. Thank you!!
Finally.. An English title with english language speakers..
@999 Rip Juice Wrld •́ ‿ ,•̀ because when they title their video it's in their native language youtube just translates it automatically so more people see it.
Yes! I couldn't find a good tutorial on how to set up a microphone anywhere else, and the only ones I did find where really complicated. You made it really simplified and easy to do! Thank you!
Great video, do you or anyone know if this works for everything within a phone concerning the mic? Such as calls or voice chat through other games. Or does it only work for voice recording?
THANK YOU! I learned more in these 5 minutes than I did searching through the user manual online.
Great tutorial Rajat. Thank you.
Is there a way to connect an external mic via Bandlab, and cutting off the internal mic.
Instead of using an audio interface, can I.... safely... use a USB soundcard connected to phone, via an OTG adaptor cable....then plug the external mic into the soundcard mic socket?
Thanks?
Thank you Rajat. I search in my box of cables and I found it. It was your tutorial that helped me to set up my Facebook live. My gratitude.
You are a lifesaver :'0 thank you so much for showing examples and being thorough!!
Thank you for letting me know about this, I was going crazy thinking that my wireless microphone was not working.
Hi. I have a trrs cable that is recognized in the voice recorder app on my Samsung A12 but won't record direct audio when using the video camera. I want to record dj mixes using my phone for video and direct audio into the headphone/mic socket from my dj mixer, but the video only records with the built in mic. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance..
Here is a question for you. My mic on my phone broke, no one can hear me on calls unless speaker phone, can't use voice to text, nothing. I bought a 3.5mm TRRS mic dongle and plugged it in and now I can do everything I used to be able to do.... except phone calls. The problem is it reads it as a head set so the phone call tries to route audio through a headset that isn't there. Is there a way to trick my phone into thinking that is the default mic without a headset? Or is there a way to use the mic and the phone speaker together? I have tried a few apps but they do not work in calls.
This is the marvel of CZcams thanks to the ingenuity and generosity of people like you. Thank you.
Thanks for the video! I wish I had seen this before buying my external microphone!
Extremely helpful tutorial. I was not told about the 3.5mm Audio Jack Splitter when I bought the mic and was wondering why the voice quality had not improved.
For my 1+5 Android phone, which Audio Jack Splitter do you recommend ? And thanks you so so much for this wonderful tutorial 👏👏👏👏
Thank you, Rajat. Short and straight to the point.
Hi, what if I have a newer iPhone and need to use the lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter, will this cause a problem with the recording splitter ?
If my microphone hast two conductors only(TS), will it work with the splitter, or do I need to buy some sort of TS to TRS adapter and then the TRRS adapter as well? Thank you!
I just purchased a Lavalier mic for use with my LG Stylo 4 android. I saw some concerns about using the mic with an android. Your video was VERY helpful! Hoping that, with the adapter, it will work :-) Thank you for the video!
You are welcome, yes the TRRS mic is you need and if you don't have one then you can get the splitter. Like this one amzn.to/2Na0q5B
thanks man, i was provided with the splitter cable along with mic but had neglected it for a long time
thank you very good review. now i know how to get this external mike working.
Thank you!!!! Your video just solved our problems!! And the link worked! So glad you explained the differences and made it easy to understand.
Rajat, Excellent Tutorial!! I wish more vlogs were as thorough as you. You showed us how it would not work, then you showed us how to make it work with a simple adapter. CUDOS to you my friend!!!
Thank you Mr. Gupta. Do you know how to set up a Yeti blue microphone in a laptop. I have been doing it but nothing, it does not respond . I updated software and still nothing, maybe there is something else that I am missing, take care and I hope you help me
Thanks for this video, my external microphone has TRRS pin, working with voice recorder but didn't work with video recording should I still get the TRRS splitter or something else?
Fantastic video, thank you! With this setup, would filming with the phone also use the audio from the microphone?
Thank you dude.... I just bought a 350$ microphone and I was very angry when I found out it didn't work
thank you sooo much for this video. i started thinking that there's no way to connect a mic to my phone and i felt devastated thinking i will have to keep my earphones' mic. i found this type of adaptor online and i'm gonna place an order right now. thank you once again!
Hi, this was very helpful I just want to ask one thing the link that you gave in the description box of the trs adapter for india that is not the same adapter that you are using in the video, so should I still buy it will it work the same?
The links are just suggestions, you can buy something similar from amazon that suits your phone the best.
thank you so much! i had no idea which side of the audio splitter to use so this video was really helpful
Thankx for the helpful information! Atlast I got a good way to connect on my android! Does the sound clarity good when we connect with the trs connector! please replay!
Thanks for the video please does this set up still apply to when I want to use it with laptop??? Because it's been few days now I couldn't connect it to my laptop
Thank you Very much for this! I am re-doing my videos due to lighting and sound issues and this will be sooo helpful! I read so many reviews of these types of mics for android phones and there were are a lot of people saying the mics wouldn't record any sound. Now, I know why they had their troubles ;)
haha that's true, and trust me i record many videos from my phone using a TRS mic but with TRRS adapter and the sound is amazing.
Ok, so I bought the recommend splitter and an external mic, an omnidirectional BOYA BY M1 Pro. It works, and sounds great. And it works with the default camera video recording app.
One little tip for those when testing this equipment. After you've verified its working with the sound recorder app, and test with a short video.... remember to UNPLUG the splitter to hear anything! Lolol
I didnt. I left it in, tried to play back my test videos and heard nothing lol
I even downloaded several different camera apps, because, you know the problem is the app not the user haha.
So yeah, it works great. Again, thank you for your video.
@@kennethturner7942 Oh yes this is something i should have mentioned lol
Thanks though :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have been reading blog posts and looking at other YT vids with no luck. YOU ARE THE BOSS!
Thanks for the video... I've connected my dj mixer via phono cables to a 3.5mm jack with a trrs converter but it still doesn't record the input.. Any advice? Thanks
Thanks for reminding me that I already own a TRRS splitter.
What if your external microphone is a headphone with a TRRS 3.5mm jack? Would you still need an audio splitter or is there an option in settings which allows you to switch microphone input?
There is no input in the settings but yes if you have an external mic with a TRRS jack then you don't need a splitter.
I have the same splitter as yours, but it doesn't work. I have soldered an xlr cable to a mono mini jack. I tested the cable and mic and they work. Now when I plug that cable into the splitter and connect the splitter to my Samsung Galaxy Note 9, my phone only recognzes headphobes, although I haven't even connected anything to the headphone part of the splitter. Needless to say nothing is being recorded to my voice or camera app.
THANK YOU for this video! I loved how you explained it by demonstrating. I am not an audo-tech person, and it was driving me crazy why I couldn't get my lav mic to work with my phone!
My lavelier already has the 4pin connector . It also has an adapter to 3pin and a 3pin socket to 4 pin adapter. All connectors work great. Not a Bad set for £13 😊😊😊
Nice video ..but I was looking to connect my smart android phone (note 9 to be precise ) to my boya mic and I know if I want the headphones or earphones also to be connected to the mic I can use the trrs splitter ..but what if I wanna use the mic along with my Bluetooth earbuds ..I was asking this as I would like to sing on karaoke so I wanna use the mic as well as listen to the music on my ear pods..is there an inbuilt option on a smart phone that can change your mic to one device n audio/earphones to another device
Hi, thanks for commenting. I don't think what you are trying to achieve is possible. The best you can do here is use a headset like a gaming headset that has both speakers and mic, with the phone. But for that you would need to use OTG adapter to connect the USB headset with the phone.
Rajat Gupta thank u so much for replying back to me ...too bad that s not possible ;(((( I just bought the boya earphones ....😂
Thanks man. Was trying to workout why my ext mic didn't seem to benefit my vids
Thank you so much, I was wondering my mic doesnt work. :D
my problem is my android will not switch off the internal phone mic when im using the external mic and the phone does not give me a choice which mic to use it simple uses both at the same time which i dont want as the internal mic is not working right and is sounding muffled due to water i think getting into the phone. If i use an audio app like bandlab the external mic works on its own but how do i get it to work with video? ive tried various apps to switch off the internal mic but the external mic running through the headphone jack is also switched off at same time.
Thank you for your explanation sir, your explanation explained the most than any other tutorial on the internet. Thank You So Much🙏
My mom was blaming saying that the mic i ordered was broken
Fixed it like a pro
Thanks sir!
Thank you! I've been trying to figure this out. Just ordered the adapter :)
Helpful video. Luckily for me, it's the same brand of phone and voice recording software, as my A40 :-)
Thanks Rajat! I never knew all this.
Brilliant! Thank you!
Thank you! Your video saved me a bunch of time! 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Thankyou very much but just tell me that can I use it for voice over during video editing
You are welcome, yes you can. Just make sure if you are using a PC for video editing then you need a TRS mic. You will need a TRRS mic for phone.
Check this czcams.com/video/rWTOXD9lVr4/video.html
Do you have a tutorial for USB connections? Any advice for external microphone with Instagram or Facebook LIVE? Thank you!
Thanks Bud that's a very informative video. I have a question ,I have a mic with trrs plug. My phone just won't recognize the mic when connected through splitter.i want to use it for singing apps like smule. Can you suggest something ,please?
The plug that goes in the phone should have trrs so if you are using an adapter it should be trrs too.
I'm using an external mic like yours and headphones with a splitter. Any tips how to increase the audio volume? The microphone is pretty quiet. If I boost the volume in Bandlab the quality gets really bad and easily irritated if I'm too loud :(
My Microphones i have tried are not bad. I would suggest you to try some other mic to see how it works.
Can you suggest an app for recording. Thanks
Finally a helpful video!
Thanks alot :)
You just saved me from my incoming despair! T_T
Does this work for recording the audio on a video with an external microphone?
a life saver, thank you sir !
Sir does this process helps in getting good sound in videorecording too ????
Informative video! Subbed! I also want to know that how can I connect mic to my one plus 7t as it doesn't have a jack. I have been looking online for type c to Jack adapter but I am confused. Please help!

Helpful, I was looking for a wireless one though hehe
I have a Poco F1. I have Boya M1 which has three rings on its 3.5mm connecter. I tried with open camera app to and changed source to external mic. It is still not working. The same mic works well with my laptop, realme 2 pro, and realme 3 pro. Do you know a fix to the problem?
Very helpful! Thank you!!
Simple and Helpful video.. This is what I was looking for. Thanks Rajat.
I have a question! When you record with the stereo mic, is it actually recording in stereo or in mono? Let me know, thank you so much! I need stereo recordings
It is a stereo recording. Check out the recording i did using this mic here czcams.com/video/eXE4p0vcOIs/video.html&ab_channel=RajatGupta
Excellent tutorial. Amazing job. Thank you so much!
Thank You Gupta Ji, very helpful video
Thank u
Educational and helpful
It worked! Great, Thanks!
Can i should do same thing with Real Me 2 mobile ?
Sirji
You seem to be the wisest person on earth who has taken the pain to make focuses on " how the inbuilt microphone of Android mobile cheats the beginner podcasters to connect a microphone via 3.5 mm jack & expect it to be a recorded from microphone.
It took me 7 days of research to identify it to an extent that i recorded via microphone in one room and kept it connected via 6 MTR wire to mobile in another room, & nothing from microphone was recorded...👌👍✌️🙏
A suggestion, change the tutorial to " how we get cheated by inbuilt microphone of Android even after connecting microphone"
This will broaden the search database and do wonders to your subscription...
Thanks a ton.
Haha.. That's the tutorial people need.. worth it..
Thank you man ypu are awesome mic man It was very helpful

I has been summoned to correct the word
Yes?? You finally what? That comment made zero sense bro… It’s like you’re saying it that way so people can fill in the blank or something. It’s the new trendy thing that people are putting as headlines in their videos and see people who trend on top of other peoples trend is ridiculous
