Full black or full blue is good. The combination you are telling is new to me. Black verticals with blue base. I think and feel it will work and may be it will help to enhance blue tint/hue in aro's scale. I guess.
For silver arowana width should be minimum 2.5-3 feet for plain background and for 3d background 4 feet mini. Whereas for asian arowana width 2.5 feet minimum for plain background & fpr 3d background 3feet
