  • ✤Welcome to my channel “ Miranda Detailing ” ✤
    My fellow detailers. If you are new to detailing and trying to start a detailing business, you may find those disaster detail videos to be very informative. But don't be fooled! A few disaster details while you are starting out may be inevitable. But they can and will ruin your detailing business in the long run. Learn from them, but move on to dealing with customers who care for their vehicles. That way you can actually grow as a detailing business.

    The most realistic detailing channel on CZcams , most others are just doing disasters for the views . Thanks Phil

    Amen. Just turned one down today. Started with do you shampoo seats? They explained they had a mix of coffee and melted crayons. Hard pass, I referred them to a mobile guy that does these. I always like to refer them to someone so you don’t get “Karen” leaving a bad review because you turned it down. Makes them feel helped.

    I call disaster details "Lazaerus projects". I have done a couple, but only under extenuating circumstances. I find the people who bring in the "disasters" are the nightmare clients who brought you a grilling dumpster, then expect absolute perfection.

  • @OndAutoValet
    @OndAutoValet Před 2 měsíci +1

    A mentor once told and taught me, the car didn’t get that way overnight. Set the expectations of you expect them to get the car that way again. Charge appropriately for the time put in it.
    - the price deters a client for the labor
    - know your worth. For disaster details I use inexpensive chemicals and steam. Off the shelf stuff. Basically it becomes a trade in detail is what we call it .
    3 day turn around is what we set it to. First day is removing debris and the detailing.
    Second day is for stain and spot extraction.
    3rd day is to make sure it is dry
    Typically this then around rate has deterred the unwanted clients; keeping us the clients who we do like: while they allowed it to get that far
    Going half a week without a car changes how the client treats the inside.
    Normal interior is 200.00 disasters we double it

    Phil and Jess, I'm not sure why anyone who owns a detail business, would not watch you. No matter what I know, or how good I may do something, In my world there is always someone that can still teach me something new, or different to improve. You both have taught me a ton of how to detail. It has helped me tremendously. Keep up the great work. I'd love to come see you sometime and learn.

    Good video. I have been a car mechanic and a master tech for the last 36 years. I learned paint correction and ceramics five years ago. I dont offer interior cleaning. Only paint correction and ceramic. In my car repairing days, i have seen blood, vomit, human and animal feces, and used condoms, guns, knives, money, and drugs.I have seen it all except dead body.
    This is why i dont offer interior cleaning. Sorry, this is how it is. I still manage to get quite good business.
    I always enjoy and learn from your videos. Keep up👍the good work.

    I agree with you on the disaster details videos. The results are impressive, simply bc of the change. The WOW happens, at least for me, when that great vehicle gets taken to another level. That takes skill. Till the next one.

    Thanks

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Hi. When a customer calls we ask them a lot of questions to figure what the condition of the vehicle. Sometimes we do ask to see the vehicle first and then make our decision from there. Then we will either price it high or tell them we no longer do interiors in this bad of condition. Usually the vehicle is neglected because the customer doesn’t care about it and won’t pay to get it properly detailed anyway.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  Před 2 měsíci +2

      It takes time. I ask every customer if they want to be on a regular schedule and give them prices. You can offer whatever services you want. We used to do monthly express details at $100 and had a few regulars. Or every two months at $150 or every 3 months at $200. You can give them options and have them choose. Just remember to not go overboard with details. They should only take maybe 2 hours max. They are basically a wash and vac and wipe down. When they are on a regular basis they will be much cleaner. Just ask everyone.

    Disaster details is a thing, for sure. Not only for the CZcams views but for inexperienced or beginner detailers. Most are pretty hungry for clients and tend to agree to just about anything, including reducing their prices. In the decades since I started saying “no” to these types of details, I actually enjoy my job to a great degree. Like I’ve always said, if a client isn’t concerned about their vehicle, why should I be?
