      We just don’t see it…there is definitely a direction sports news programming is headed. Women and girls alike in America as well as globally enjoy and appreciate sports too. And whether it’s track and field, basketball, gymnastics, etc, they perform at an extremely high level. Personally, I’m happy to see them get more of a media presence. I find Mina Kimes very knowledgeable and she gives as good as she gets. And most importantly, the women I follow on these various sports shows don’t come across as complete know-it-alls out to build their careers by bashing and taunting athletes from behind a microphone like some of the well-established sports journalists (ala
      Stephen A and Skip Bayless) have done. Sorry folks, just had to add that in.

    • @DatDude923
      @DatDude923 Před 6 měsíci +5

      The job doesn’t require you to have knowledge anymore they require you to be entertaining for a specific audience type. So when you take this type of player and his mindset and put him in a studio with people that have an agenda, that doesn’t work. You should see how heated things get when he calls out hypocrisy. The moment he stood up for Russell, Wilson, and Lamar Jackson, I knew his time at ESPN was coming to a close. He said something to the fact of Lamar Jackson, having less rushing yards and more passing yards makes Lamar are running back, but when Josh Allen does it, he’s an alien, and we’ve never seen anything like this. And now we need to take into account, quarterbacks legs as a weapon. So when he said “oh, running counts as a quarterback feature now?” That’s when I said. Oh yeah, dude your time is up. NFL analysts are like the NFL. Back in a day you could be raw and honest, you know hard hitting. Today you get penalized and ejected for doing things that get you in the Hall of Fame and both the NFL and as an analyst. We can talk about a lot of topics, but realistically speaking, the American viewer has a really really soft mentality now. The truth easily offends people. They don’t want the truth they want to be entertained. so the people that can tow the corporate line and push the agendas that the corporation wants, that’s what you have to do in order to stay employed.

    I see a pattern now. ESPN pretty much makes the decision on whether to retain you or not well before negotiation time. They don't even tell you. The negotiation process is just an act. If ESPN decides they don't want you, management (or the fellow cast mates) will start messing with you days before your contract expires (or during "negotiations") to get you to tap out, quit, react negatively, or to get your bad side shown in public so ESPN can say, "See! See, this is why we didn't want him." ESPN intended to give RC an offer he would absolutely refuse (they proposed a new contract with a much lesser amount). There never really was going to be a negotiation but ESPN doesn't want the negative publicity of another analyst being fired or laid off. Former owner of the WWE, Vince McMahon, does the exact same tactics with wrestlers that he does not want retained (most famous example was Bret Hart years ago). I wonder if this is becoming a thing with companies that really just don't care about their people. Or maybe this is just an entertainment industry thing. In any case, if ESPN REALLY intended to retain RC and have a serious negotiation, they would have treated him far much better. Best of luck to RC. He's a really good analyst.

      I'm not clearly understanding your analogy of Vince with Bret. Bret got offered more money with WCW but was in talks with Vince to try to stay with the company. Then the "Montreal Screwjob" happened and that's what eventually made him leave.

    Nah we not gonna do this. The reason that RC isn’t on ESPN is because he was trying to do this negotiation himself. If you listen to his comments on the Pivot RC makes it very clear that he has taken this whole situation personally. But it’s business, this is why you hire a middle man (agent) to negotiate on your behalf. They are actively trying to pay you “less” and they are listing reasons about why they feel like they shouldn’t have to pay you what you want. It’s almost impossible for someone to not take that personally if you’re sitting in the room listening to it. It changes the way you look at the people in the negotiations.

    You know what's so funny Ryan Clark went through this in football. I'm a dolphins fan I remember he came on a visit to Miami when he was a free agent I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but I know he felt very disrespected when he left. The funny thing Clark seem like one of them good solid dudes why the good get done so. I'm really starting to think it's supposed to be this way for whatever reason maybe it's something we're not seeing in God's plans because it's fact the good get done the worst on this app or so it seems.
