  • This is a good clean solidly running single owner motorcycle built in Marysville, Ohio. I have owned this bike since the day it came out of the crate and at 59,689 miles it is still not just a garage decoration. It has been a daily ride through most seasons with some time off here and there over the years while I have been distracted. It still runs strong, still gets 50mpg, and is comfortable and satisfying to ride. This bike also has not leaked a drop of oil or any other fluid at any time in its life.
The bike comes with new tires, new fork seals, reasonably new spark plugs, new oil and filter, a float charger, original owners manual, a shop manual and a polycarbonate fairing that I found to be just the right size. Everything on it works.
    Asking $1650.00

I have this but the acid batteries are trash. Now I use a gel battery and no issues.

I bought a new black/silver one in 86. Loved it. Totaled by a red-light runner.
Fair winds and following seas to all.

Had the exact same bike about 20 years ago. Sold it to some guy for 1800 bucks back in the day. Wish I never sold it now. Looking to get back into bikes again and cant even find something close to this that is still being made today. Maybe the Yamaha VStar 1300 but even that was discontinued in 2017.
I will never forget the good memories riding my Shadow 1100!

This is what a real motorcycle looks like. It has got the lines...like a pedigree. They haven't made them like this for many years.

Yep, I've owned mine for 34 years now and it's still showroom clean and turns heads wherever we go. 100% reliable and comfortable to ride.

I’ve got an 86 and love it! No real need to ever upgrade. Fuel injection might be nice. As my dad always said, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Thank you for sharing a nice video. My Shadow VT1000, 1986 is a total GEM. We are at 12,000 miles and she is still un-flawed. It needs nothing. This is, motorcycle for me number 14 in my life. Prior to this one, it was a Yahama FJR 1300 What does FJR stand for? "Freggin Japaneese Rocket !! Well, that is what they said. 137 HP did get my attention! It was a fine bike, but it didn't get into my soul. So, I went a few years without a bike, as I sold the 2005 FJR to another guy. The itch got me again...you guys know about the itch. Found this Shadow and fell in love at first sight and ride. She is agile and easy to control. This bike is already 30 years old. It only has 67 HP and two big cylinders, but as I have discovered, that is all I need. This is what I like. This Shadow will take you to 100 MPH in a few seconds and it sounds great all the while it is doing it The down shifts sounds are really impressive! It has that cross over exhaust system...nice. Two up..(wife-ee) it does not even notice.
I traded revs from my other bikes for torque. Turns out I like torque better. Instead of the engine sounding like a washing machine, I like to hear the thumps between my legs. Yes, that is what is all about. Find your bike, connect with it, and enjoy the memories. Give you a wave when I go by you!!

Thanks for sharing your appreciation of this motorcycle. The bike sold in about 12 hours and though it was time to part ways I do miss it. I really liked how it sounded and it road very strong. I've left the video up as kind of a memorial to its faithfulness. Enjoy your rides.

The 86 vt1100 has 78hp and 9.5:1 compression, newer versions have lower compression and only 62hp and only 4 speed.

As beautiful as those tires are, they’re for sure unsafe for use as they usually have an expiration of several years.

    • @kitsapjeff
      @kitsapjeff  Před 2 lety +1

It's about 525 pounds with a low center of gravity and easier for most people to get both feet on the ground when stopped. I miss it but I found it a good home. Very hard to find one for sale or parts if something important fails on the bike. Good luck.

Sorry, but I haven't been paying attention to this video. I put it up as an aid in selling the bike but it turns out it wasn't necessary. The first day I put it at the end of my drive with a fore sale sign it was taken in less than 24 hours by a guy down the street who was just the kind of buyer I was looking for. I knew that when he made a point to not just ask what grade of gas I ran in it but what brand.
It was hard to part with but it was time for a variety of reason. I thought I'd leave this up as kind of a memorial for a very fine motorcycle that served me well for the 30 years that I owned and road it. It is one fine example of one durable machine.
I miss the sound of it a lot.
