I bought a pair of these yesterday after only ever using basic leather road boots. These Sidi boots are not cheap, but if you ride in winter conditions they are widely considered the 'best in class' in every respect. I've always worn trousers and wet weather gear tucked into my boots, and these allow plenty of room and a nice cinch so I don't expect water to leak into the boots.
I’ve had a set of these for a couple years now and put them through some longer trips and sketchy weather - overall quite happy with them and would recommend them for adventure touring. Sizing is a bit weird, I wear a 44.5 (10.5 US) in pretty much all boots and shoes, average width. Since these are not available in half sizes, and I hate heel float, I went with a size 44 (10 US) and they fit me well. I can wear thick socks and walk all day with no issues, bit thicker (heated) insoles are a no go. The slim design makes operating controls super easy and the lugged sole gives lots of traction. Mine have been waterproof up to the point where water comes in over the top, no issues with riding in the rain or walking through shallow water. The protection, while probably one of the best for a waterproof boot, I feel like could have been a bit better. Specifically the inside of the foot is really just leather, if there is plastic in there it’s not doing much. Having a peg hit the inside of your foot is very noticeable. The front and top of the boot also don’t offer the crush protection I’d like in an off-road environment, would have liked a bit more padding there, as well as around the ankle. Bottom line is - these are a great adventure touring boot where you expect long days, standing on the pegs, rain, and an occasional bump against a rock. However, they are not even close to a good MX boot protection wise. If I’m even remotely expecting to be crashing more than once a day, I’m wearing my SG-12’s. I’ll take wet feet over broken bones all day!

Comprehensive review Brian; well done. Feeling better about having just dropped $500 on a pair! I was disappointed to discover that the construction does not allow the boot to be resoled. Assuming you were not compensated for the review by Sidi, and thus unbiased, perhaps best not to sport their swag. 🙂

Looking at getting my first pair of off-road boots, suffering paralysis by analysis because I have no feel for just how much less comfortable I would feel if I went with the extra protection of a Sidi x Power versus the Sidi Adventure 2. My biking is fire roads, ATV trails, some rocky and wet terrain; no jumping; often quite fast. Often standing. Help - I need a push one way or the other....
The best answer we can give is that in 90% of cases a wearer of an off road boot gets enough feedback to easily operate the bike, plus a good amount of added protection. I am sure you are unsure of that but it is usually fine and worth trying. Even more so if your fellow riders are using off road boots, symmetry amongst our riding group is an unrecognized indicator. HTH.
Would you do a short video showing the lateral movement of the boot ? Does it offer lateral support or can you bent it over to the side pretty easily ? With heaver bikes its really important if its turned on its side and your leg and ankle are under the bike that the lateral support will help keep the bike from crushing your leg . I may have missed it in your video but I didn't see you showing its lateral support . In the future if you could push as hard as you can on the left and right side to show its support along with trying to bent it left and right would be great info for people that are wanting to see its support . You did it on the toe part but not with the other parts of the boot .
Great review, I am deciding between something like this, tcx drusters or going to an entry level MX Enduro boot like the tech 3 or gx1 for a cheaper additional protection. I barely go off road but as I ride an Africa Twin I am looking more protection than a touring boot. What would you suggest? Thanks and congrats for all great videos!

Hello! Please tell me, which shoes have the best protection for the metatarsal bones? Is it Sidi or Terra Evo?
The Sidi is very slightly stiffer in the midsole.

Not real leather. So is the upper a new synthetic one. I think the longevity of leather is better.
