Its an awesome song to sing too. Actually in Boston many moons ago I was asked to sing back up for a few shows near the Cape maybe it was early mid eighties @ the Channrl clubin the city ...it was by a tall brunette singer & the piano player from the Tubes. {What a nice guy} ....had otger things at the time going on .bet it would of been a blast. . Krazee but good times in that music scene back then . 😺.

Love the guitar solo in this tune. It does sound like it crying out. Yeaaahhhh.......with a touch of the sax in there too. I'm happy that people are still listening to REAL music.
Agreed about the solo. Also, there are plenty of modern artists still making real music, including ones heavily influenced by Todd. Check out an Australian band called Pond. They make psychedelic pop/rock and are very much inspired by him, and even sampled his song Cosmic Convoy on their track Paint Me Silver.
Todd Rundgren is as real as it gets.

I'll admit that I'm a bit biased since they're my all-time favorite band, but everyone I know who loves Todd's work has very easily been able to get into Pond. In many ways they're like a cross between Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Prince, with a little bit of Todd mixed in there for good measure. If you do enjoy what you hear from them then please be sure to check out their albums _The Weather_ and _9_ (their newest release). Both are psychedelic pop/rock masterpieces that deserve to be heard by anyone who appreciates true artistry and talent. If you do happen to enjoy those, then absolutely check out the rest of their discography because they're also a band that evolves with each new album, so there's lots of variety there.
If you wind up becoming a fan, then please spread the word about them; despite their talent and the high praise they typically receive from music critics, they're _criminally_ overlooked by the world at large and they deserve to find more success and recognition than they currently get.

This song just punched me in the stomach about 9 months after this album came out. I'd just broken up with someone I'd been with for three years...
Hitting me now, end of a ten year relationship.
Brings back so many memories. He was great live, saw him when RA came out.
I always think of this tune as the most intense little jewelbox of a song, second by second, that Todd's ever written. I heard it in high school, a few years after it came out, and just about fell over. That BRIDGE ... along with some of the most gorgeous guitar work he's ever produced ...Who writes this kind of three-minute song, other than Todd? Nobody. It's nothing less than an anthem ... bearing respectful witness to the sometimes great pain of life and love.

I'm not a huge Rundgren fan, but this song is awesome. I remember hearing it for the first time in 1978 on WXRT FM in Chicago. I bought this album and Utopia's Oops, Wrong Planet, about that same time. Some really good Rundgren tunes on both albums.

Better than Bowie. Bowie cant play a fucking instrument plus Bowie wrote almost none of his songs on his own cant say that about Todd. Todd is God.
Todd probably is one of top ten best song writers of all time hands down.

I agree should have been a massive hit ! But Todd gave the big 🖕🏻to the record companies, and They massively underestimated his fan base , they tried to " Black Ball" him ,so that's why no " Hall of Shame " been there it's really a joke anyway ! He is THE ORIGINAL INDIVIDUALIST ! For me it's a tie between this album and "The tortured Artist Affect " THANKS
