Fun Fact: All students in UA are using Smart phones aside from Uraraka. She is using a "flip phone", a subtle way of saying that she is unable to afford smartphones. (Yeah, I know this is heart-wrenching)
NAHHHHHHHHHHH THATS TRAGIC
Bonn Maghari oh damn... that hits hard
Especially since mha is set in the future. Think of how hard it is to find a flip phone now days, that must've been a phone passed down generations...
Bonn Maghari "fun fact"
Woah, didn't notice that. Good observation but that's make me sad.
By far one of my favorite parts of that episode is when Kaminari calls Uraraka frail and Bakugo scoffs and mutters "What part of her was frail?" It speaks so much about his character.
In what Episode was that?
@@lone_rleart2593 idk what episode but on season 2

The scenes that hit me really hard:
1. Bakugou finally venting and telling Deku how he feels
2. All Might vs All For One
3. “You can be a hero too”
4. Deku being told that he’s quirkless
And the last but not least
5. *eat this*
@Bearbucks Cafe nah dude swap 5 and 1
All Might VS All For One made me CRY. And I don't cry very easily. Yeah, it hit very hard.
Or when Bakugou got kidnapped
Cant forget when kota punched deku in the nuts
I cried so much I got my nose stuck with the all might and all for one fight
I didn't like Bakugou at first, but his respect for Ochaco and fighting her as an equal made me change my opinion of him.
Same for me
I think this is the first moment in the entire series where Bakugo's characterization from season one is leveraged to make him more than just a hate sink for the viewer.
Exactly beat everyone's ass equally! *That's Feminism!*
I changed my mind about him in the second episode ... somehow, I already knew about his strong, courageous and determined heart and his focused, strategist and precise mind.
Nah, overtime he just grew on me as a Character that was there just to yell instead of my favorite op character.
My favorite scene of the whole episode was the little moment when Bakugo came and sat by the class after victory and someone made the comment "How could you be so harsh on a fragile little girl?!", which he just muttered to himself "Idiot.. What part of her was fragile.." It just encapsulates the whole fight so beautifully. How Bakugo, is in his own way, is a really just person, judging a person only by actions. And how Ochoco showed her resolve, becoming more then a cheerleader
It really shows the respect that Bakugo had for her underneath the surface. Because to him, who was fighting her with everything, she wasnt someone to be taken lightly.
@@QueenTheCossackTongued This also highlights why he is so furious with Todoroki after beating him, because he feels insulted that he didn't deserve Todoroki's full effort, especially after Deku was able to bring him to that point.
Because Bakugo deep down in his heart is very sensitive and fragile. That is why he is wearing this mask of the aggressive douchebag, he wants to protect his emotions and feelings. You can really see that in him when he has his fight with Midoriya in season 3. Bakugo is an amazing character that has his internal issues, and I know that author did that in order to have shit ton of things to develop in that character.
Yeah. Plus, this moment felt like Bakugo was respecting Uraraka as well. Sure, she's a girl and hes not just a boy, but he's Bakugo, but he respected her enough to not only not look down on her, but to give it his all. For me, that was the moment when Bakugo kind of redeemed himself.
Yeah but this is in combat perspective not romantic one. This scene is powerfull and really emotional but Bakugo said in a stratigic way not that he likes her.Midoriya also belived that Uraraka could resist a fight with Bakugo.
Another important detail is Bakugou calling her by name.
The only people Bakugou calls by name are the people he respects. And up to this fight he only called Kirishima (the Hardening guy) by his name. Everyone else gets a degrading nick name.
In this fight he didn't underestimate her, he stood his ground and was very careful because once she touches him he likely loses. But she was a much more difficult opponent than he expected and she brought him to his limits. If he had been slower to react she would have gotten him on her second try. If his strongest attack didn't blow away both the rubble and her, she would have gotten him or he would have been defeated by her falling rubble.
After her meteor shower he accepted her as someone playing in the same leauge. She deserved his respect. And he drops the nick names and calls her Uraraka.
I think this detail is very important. Because she sees herself as being too weak. She isn't convinced by her own strength. But Bakugou is. And this is a feat only few have achieved.
MelvaCross I REALLLY wanted to see Bakugo walk up to her after the match and tell her how good she did, but that would've been WAYY too out of character for him.
Even if he did get touched, wouldn't he just fly around like he always does?
munny moore nahh, if he got tapped, he'd lose all gravity and fly into the sky. He can try to fly back down, but Uraraka would get a ring out first
Super Saiyajin God of Llamas
Now that I think about it, Bakugo would be able to control himself much more easily if he were weightless. He's already showcased his aerial control using explosions of various sizes at precise moments and angles(like VERY precise), the kid's a genius.
munny moore shittt- you got a fair point
This scene was also really interesting for Bokugou’s development as well. I think it’s great that he doesn’t hold back when fighting Uraraka, but there a few moments when she’s collapsed and struggling to get up that he gives her time to get to her feet that are really telling. Not to mention, he sees Uraraka fall in slow motion, fatigued and hurt from fighting him. He has to watch her be taken out of the stadium unconscious.
Later, he’s pissed with Deku because he thinks that he had some involvement in Uraraka’s plan. But Deku says that it was all her idea.
I could be wrong here, but for me, this felt like Bakugou was truly confronted with the raw strength of his power. Before, his fighting style was all about taking people out and winning, but he is clearly affected by his fight with Uraraka. He hopes that Deku was involved in her plan so he can feel better about beating her. This fight was a subtle but important milestone for him. It’s kind of a basic lesson for Bakugou to learn but it’s an important one for him; what we want might not turn out the way we want it to be. Bakugou loves to win, but this is the first time winning didn’t feel good for him. We see this again when he wins the tournament but is mad when Todoroki doesn’t use his flames and when All Might defeats All for One, but Bakugou feels responsible for his loss of power.
That's an interesting point of view. Haven't thought about it that way. Thanks for sharing🙌🏼
Their are going to be so many god damn nitpicksers soon

Huhuhuhuhuhuhhuhuhhuhu why I’m crying 😭😭
I watch the Japanese version... but when I heard her say "I want to help you guys out" in English, with that quivering voice... It was unexpected. Tears sprung to my eyes. I didn't have this reaction with the Japanese version. Amazing English voice acting.
Raza Khan FINALLY SOMEONE! It takes a lot for me to cry in tv shows. But when that part came and she was crying, I couldn’t help but cry too.
Same I’ve only watched the subs but hearing the same phrase in English was wayyy different
thats why ill always prefer a good dub over good subs. Not being a native japanese speaker i miss out on a lot of emotional subtleties that i don't with english, when its done right.
No but the time Kota punched Izuku in the nuts... I felt that.
All the guys did.

I laughed so hard at that scene, but I felt that, too.
Too bad girls did not feel that
uraraka is closer to All might than we thought. She always smiles in any situation.
I wonder if she could of been the student all might picked if he never met deku
@@downnice95All Might would have chosen someone he at least knew about. He met Deku before they even entered U.A. which means he couldn't have known about Uraraka..
also the shadow that was shown when they were talking about All Mights previous choice certainly did not look a lot like Uraraka.
@@besnep All Might already had Mirio on the top of his shortlist before Deku but he went to UA to scout a potential One for All user so in a alternate universe where All Might never sees Deku it is possible a random person like Uraraka after that fight would pique his interest. I agree. I think, if All Might didn't bump into Deku, and waited on picking Mirio, he would've noticed Uraraka during the tournament and would've developed an interest in giving her One for All.

Cairo Anthony wdym?
Bakugo’s reaction after he defeated Uraraka was much different from his reaction after defeating someone after they gave it their all. Bakugo looked troubled, sure he has been like that when he won the sports festival against Todoroki because he wouldn’t use his hot side. I think this is also important to note.
He wasn't troubled but he was surprised that uraraka lasted that long without falling unconscious. He even praised her by calling her strong
Yes, he was 100% on guard and alert to her movements, and he was surprised at the end because after all of that she was still going for the kill, but she just could not continue.
@@esaualfaro3447 exactly. Did u see when ochako tried to duck then bakugo faked a straight explosion an aimed it to the ground so it explodes everywhere so it hits uraraka? Bakugo has really good combat prowess nd fighting iq
Personally, I think he was just very surprised at her newfound strength and might have been slightly troubled that he almost lost, but for the most part I think his expressions at the end were just showing how he thought she was a worthy opponent
If yall were watching your see that after that explosion bakugo arms were shaking meaning he took self inflicted damage from it
This fight is also my favourite- though being from Bakugo's perspective. Uraraka is the only person in the entire competition to push him to some form of a limit. His arms can only take so much stress from his explosions. No one else pushed him that hard. Kirishima got a hit in but... that's it. Uraraka vs Bakugo showed Bakugo's true colours. He respects those he deems strong.
The Great Gawain - Yes, the most moving part of this set of scenes for me was the speech about Bakugo’s respect for Uraraka. It was great character development for both of them.
I dont like her

OMG ME TOO!!!! SUCH A POWERFUL SCENE ALONG AND WITH THE SECRET MESSAGES AND PLOTS THAT IT CONTAINS AND SHOWS ABOUT THE CHARACTERS THOUGHTS AND REASONS.🤧👍😭😭😭😭😭
Yessir
I thought I was the only one who cried during this scene-
I'm rewatching bnha, And i started crying when uraraka lost. I know how it feels to lose when you tried SO hard, and the fact that she wanted her parents to be happy...That makes me want to cry like in lion king.
Ik like she doesn't even wanna do it for fame or anything she's so precious 😭
Ochaco is her first name. Uraraka is her surname. In Japanese the surname comes first so Uraraka Ochaco in Japanese, Ochaco Uraraka in English. They're both correct.
This anime it's good not because of the fights themselves but because of what they mean to the characters each fight feels more like a moment of closure for each character than just a simple combat. And that's why I love Boku No Hero Academia
literally almost every other fighting anime does that too. mha isn't THAT unique.
@@Huhwjaeff Bro, if you're here just to reply bitchy things to other people's comments, then fuck off, nobody wants to hear it
Mespresso But, you just technically did the exact same thing. lol
I wish you would’ve talked more about how Bakugou respected her and if you would’ve addressed Aizawa admonishing the crowd for not thinking of Uraraka as Bakugou’s equal and someone that it he should give his all for. I’m glad that you mentioned it in the edit. The thing is, Bakugou is my favorite character, and this scene is one of the most shoeing scenes of his character, as it shows how much he sees in the people in his class, no longer underestimating anyone after losing to Deku in the first scene in the hero vs villain drill. I love the line where he says “what part of her was frail...” after the fight as he shows that he doesn’t look at her as some weak girl as the others might, but instead a worthy opponent who he must give his all versus, and that mindset in itself shows his respect for all those around him, even if he doesn’t show it in his words.
“My Hero Academia’s Most Powerful Scene”
Bakugo: “hold my spicy food”
...”was I the one that killed All-Might...?”
damn man that hit hard
For me it's the wombo combo: United States of Smash into You're Next.
I related to Bakugou SO MUCH in that scene
no hits harder when he knows he “killed” all might
*”why was i the one who ended all might!”*
@@solar173 true. That scene made me cry SO MUCH my parents had to go to wherever I was watching it and ask why I'm so loud
Look, I don't like dubs, but they found very good voice actors for Ochako and Midoriya.
Yeah the MHA dub is legit fantastic, I usually prefer dubs too cuz sometimes they're ass.
Browntable oh Hey! Yeah exactly, but in this case, with this scene, I started crying in the clip you showed in the video, while during the subbed version, I didn't. That's the thing with subs, it's hard to feel emotion for someone when you don't directly understand what they're saying. Having to read what they say makes it less emotional. Great video by the way! This is the first video I've seen from you and I'm super curious what you'll make in the future! Keep up the good work!!
Wow it's amazing how different we can feel about sub/dub.
Dubbed version I was thinking how it sounded like they were voice-acting, not like the voice belonged to the character. Probably because I've already assigned them another voice. Speaking of which, Uraraka's japanese VA Sakura Ayane, I absolutely ADOOOORE her voice. Already heard her a lot in Non Non Biyori and it's so unique.
But yeah I can see how reading messes up your immersion when you're not used to it. Takes a good 100 hours or more of anime to get it running like water.
Erafune yeah I prefer the Japanese voice actors too.
This dub is really good! All the voice acting is really quality. This ain't no koboyashis dragon maid! Plus I feel like since you don't have to read captions you can really give all your focus to the art and music. It's phenomenal
As someone who’s dedicated my life to wanting to make my parents live comfortably this really struck a deep chord in me. I’m going to enter my first year in university and I got accepted to one of the most prestigious universities in my state all because I wanted to make my parents proud, I want to graduate and get a good job as soon as I can so I can give my parents everything they deserve.
When Uraraka said,
“I just want to help you guys now!”
I cried because of course I related, But when her dad said,
“Don’t worry about us, we just want you to be happy.”
I bawled, I mean full on bawled. My parents tell me the same exact thing, and the whole scenario was so familiar to me that I guess I really projected myself into that scene.
As of now, it’s my favorite MHA scene. (Also the sound track was amazing in it too agh)
9:54 damn you sounded really emotional there, I'm sure your parents are very proud of your accomplishments, don't worry. You're amazing, and I love your videos. :)
This scene made Uraraka my favourite character. I've always liked her because she was adorable, but this scene brought a new layer to her. Showed her motivations, her drive, and showed her to be badass, smart and determined too.
Oh gosh this scene hit me in the feels. Uraraka is such a fricken amazing character.

Yea She’s such A good person and puts the fun in the anime :)
Glacier Animations people hate her cuz she gets away in the of todoDeku omg........
Bruh even MoMo they both deserve better
This show impacts more with emotional concept than it does with its memorable action sequences
True, most of the fights aren't even that sophisticated and spectacular but the context behind the fights makes them feel incredible meaningful and spectacular
Anonymous MD you can have both tho. But if you have to choose its better to have the latter. But plenty of shows/anime do both.
I Got One Too..
When Sir Nighteye Predicted That Deku Would Die And Uraraka's Reaction To The Prediction...
Oh yeah
I've been thinking of that ever since I finished that episode.
I broke down so hard when she called her parent's telling them how hard she tried during the fight. I am a 20 year old man, and I wish my parents told me this at a young age. Those were the words I needed to hear, and I couldn't believe I heard it from an anime first.
The moments of heroism in this show makes me emotional as well. Its infectious and unabashed sense of pure heroism makes it a very inspirational show. This series makes it an effort to examine what it means to be a hero and goes to give characters depth in ways that you didn’t expect. As much of a great moment as this was for Uraraka, it was also great for Bakugo as well as we got to see that he’s more than just the pompous jerk.
Her crumbling voice when she started crying almost got me
9:08
this is like the saddest thing i’ve ever seen dude, how she just chokes up and is like “i....i failed” and her dad just trying to be like “it’s okay” and she’s just crying her eyes out and oh my god i cry dude
This scene made Uraraka my favorite character.
Damn the voice actress for Ochako is really good!
Ayyyyyyeeee you watch MHA too? Its not quite as good as HxH yet, but it has potential. Whos your favorite character so far?
Jiggonomics He's not in the anime yet, Overhaul! (Also nothing is as good as hxh so I don't like to make comparisons XD)
Overhaul is a damn good villain, I can't wait for next season so we can see him in action (no way he's gonna make it this season aside from the finale, which I expect him to appear in).
hioeo Yep, can't wait!!

2. "It's your power, Isn't It?!"
3. Bakugou and Deku fight.
4. All Might Vs All For One (espacially "It's your turn now")

7. Deku saving Kora.
8. Kacchan being kidnapped.

I’m a third year medical student, and my parents are getting pretty old. This is the second marriage for them both. My sister will graduate high school at the exact moment I graduate medicine, as long as I don’t fail. Money recently has been looking a little tight. My parents spent almost a fortune (this is not an exaggeration) on my education in high school, and it changed me. But now I’m just trying to work hard so I can graduate and help pay for my sister when it’s her turn. I mean there’s a lot of reasons and excitements I have about graduating. I’ll be useful to the world, have a kind of purpose. But it would also be nice to do things that will make my parents happy and help them out so they can maybe relax a little, or at least have that option. I’ve watched a lot of anime, or at least, I’ve watched my fair share, and when I heard my friends speaking about this anime, I figured it was just another Shonin anime and kind of decided not to watch it. But after this video. Well I got a little teary eyed towards the end of the video, so I think I’ll give it a watch.
Life is tough man, you got this!!!
Also, yeah the show's fantastic and a lot about character.
do your best!! you're a strong person for acting like that and you'll do great!
Browntable so I’ve just finished watching season 3 of this anime, and. It was a great recommendation. But this moment in the anime is definitely not my favorite. And that’s significant to me, because if I hadn’t watched your video, I don’t think I would have paused enough to really appreciate it. So while I’m definitely grateful for an wonderful anime recommendation, I’m even more grateful that you were able to take this thing that you found beautiful, and articulate it well enough that other people (i.e. me) could appreciate it too.

Uraraka is a softie, she's like a girl that acts positive, I live that scene because the reason she wants to be a hero is to make money for her parents and make them proud. But no one knows that. She doesn't show how sad and stressed she really is.
That gave me satori vibes 🤔🤔

I got a bit teary eyed and felt goosebumps from my body when this scene happened, I really love Ochaco and this video is really good that it pretty much summed up what I like about her in this scene. TheAnimeYoungin - I never said I never liked Ochako I like them both
When she fainted and the camera was in Uraraka’s eye, I think it would be more powerful if she was crying.
I think it's great the way it is because I don't think she would've liked to show her weakness in front of others by crying, you could feel her desperation perfectly as is, if not more w/o her crying.
@@oliviaroy3078 exactly
I like the tiny detail of how Izuku even knew that Uraraka was hiding something. That she cheered him on even though she was hurt.
“If something I’m talking about is considered a usual anime trope, I wouldn’t really know about it” yeah, pretty much everything you mentioned is pretty common in anime. Heroes that aren’t the main characters usually lose to villains/antagonists they face, there’s usually internal monologues and outside commentators during fights, characters having their dreams tragically crushed. The thing that makes MHA special isn’t that it’s unique, it’s just that it executes these tropes better than most other series, because the characters and setting feel a lot more fleshed out and believable than in other similar anime.
Pretty much everything is a trope of some kind at this point, so I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's because the premise is so close to real life that it's something we can genuinely relate to. It's not "I'LL SAVE THE WORLD" it's "I'LL MAKE SURE TO GIVE MY PARENTS A COMFORTABLE LIFE". and it's so well executed.
Actually I think one of the best parts of MHA is that it subverts those tropes.
Like sure Deku is the special chosen one who gets One For All.
He also gets his ass kicked.
Constantly.
In fact his main strength isn't getting new powers as plot demands like Natsu or Naruto. It's using what he has to great effect due to his intelligence and careful analysis. His victories always feel *earned* because he's often facing much tougher villains or heroes and wins through his wits instead of some kind of 11th hour power up like most anime heroes get.
It's because of its willingness to subvert expectations like this that I feel MHA has some seriously good writing.
The females have definitely been lacking spotlight in the series so far, and I really hope Uraraka will receive a serious arc centered around her at some point
to be fair there are less girls in the class then boys its normal the focus is more on the guys
dicecop honestly I agree with you I like all the females in this show and I hope they develop these characters more than they do
Uraraka and tsuyu build a little relationship under their temporary internship together in the manga(anime watchers my get it this season idk)

a really great analysis of a scene that makes me hiccup cry every single time I watch it. I think the wonderful thing about bnha is how deeply human all of the characters in the show are, you understand those feelings because we've been there.
I mean- she probably could've won if she had ran up to him THENNNN released the rubble.

Yeah, this is the scene that always gets me the most.
The will of fighting and trying to win that goes beyond her reach, but still even when she sees the defeats in front of her eyes BUT STILL MANAGE TO STAND UP AND TRY TO GO AGAIN...
AAAAAA, even writing this makes my eyes polished...
I loved your analysis, cuz that's exactly why I love this scene the most. Deku vs Shoto is pretty much an awesome fight, a redeeming fight for Shoto versus his already settled future that his dad made, but Uraraka's fight is much more symbolic than that.
Thank you for this good and well thought video :)
Indeed. I wholeheartedly agree.
normal people watching bakugou and Uraraka fighting: Damn this is epic
Fandom: AH SHET I SHIP IT. DJSNJSNGISNFJD
Damn, this is when I realize that there’s so much more to this story than I thought.
Great analysis of an amazing show! Also noticed since you said you just got into anime, that I might want to recommend Fullmetal alchemist. There's a 2003 version that deviates from the manga, which I know can be offputting to a lot of people, but I cannot stress enough that you should watch it first.
Then there's a manga accurate version from 2009 called FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Both are amazing, and deserving of great analytical videos, I just think should watch 2003 first. There's actually a lot of similarity between them and Hero Academia and Death Note in terms of characterization and themes.
Also it's the same animation studio.
And yes, you will cry. You will. Hard.
Really really really agree on FMA first. You can't really go back to it after FMA:B, but the 2003 FMA is a work of art in its own right and deserves the watch.
Onii-san....
Opinions meh :P here’s mine :3 he’d be better off skipping the first. I didn’t watch all the episodes but of the ones I did see I remember thinking it was too convoluted and made zero sense. Fast forward to Brotherhood and now I’m thinking “Hey this is much better! I wonder if I jumped the gun too quickly.” So I decided to go back. Aside from having more Mayes Hughes best dad moments it was still about as bad as I remember :P Opinions are fickle creatures.(The ending is trippy as shit) Then again Brotherhood is my fave anime of all time so maybe I’m just biased.
Dalton Bishop well you want to watch the original fma for at least the first 13-20 episodes to get the full Tucker arc to have the full impact
NinjaTyler the arc lasts for 13 to 20 episodes? Brotherhood summed it up much quicker then :P
I don't watch a lot of anime but i'm really interested in this one.
I hope you do give it a shot, though I may be biased. Trust me when I say this though, as amazing as this scene is, there are tons of even more amazing moments haha. Most of the characters are extremely lovable, and I can guarantee you that this show can be an emotional ride (especially with the recent episodes in season 3 haha)
Well i can recommend it
You should watch it! Me also, don't watch a lot of anime but this one really hook me up! HECK I'm even reading the latest chapter in manga and it keeps better and better 💜
Supers done right And it has something for everyone started watching this last year now my new favorite anime show
bro, watch it. its amazing. this shit changed my view on anime.
It's so cute that she looks up to deku
Wow the voice acting in this dub is incredible
what totally sold that scene and that specific line is the delivery, They have great voice actors in the dub
Thank kishimoto for inspiring Horikoshi for making this anime
Evan Plays manga*
Remmenent same difference, it inspired the manga which then was made into the anime
Yeah but horikoshi isn't shit at writing female characters
Eichiiro Oda (creator of One Piece) was seemingly also a big inspiration for Horikoshi, apparently he sent fanart of the character Smoker to Oda like 10 years before My Hero was created.
that makes a lot of sense if the creator was a fan of Kishimoto, because this particular episode is very similar to that of the Hinata vs Neji fight in Naruto..right down to why she wants to fight in the first place (is in love with Naruto, admires him and in some ways wants to be him) and even ends in a similar fashion.
Who else tear up when Todoroki uses his fire quirk
This was a well-put together video! I (as an Ochaco stan) have also cried in that very same moment that you have. It was very well-built up scene. I think Ochaco honestly needs more reignition than she deserves. She is is definetly the best female character in BNHA in my opinion :)
Very very true your explanation puts everything in a new perspective and it was a very powerful one as well. Fantastic work keep it up 👍
I cried in the first episode, "You can become a hero".
I cried the first 4 times I watched Ochako talking to her dad. I relate to her so strongly, my family has fallen on hard times and I wish I could help somehow.
This is still one of my favorite fights in the whole show. The respect Uraka gives Bakugo and the respect Bakugo gives Uraka is fucking awesome. It’s well earned for both of them. They both fought without holding back, they fought intelligently, and they fought fiercely. Bakugo ultimately had the more powerful quirk in this situation, but in the end my favorite line from him in this moment was that “she wasn’t weak at all.” Uraka respects that Bakugo is taking her seriously and Bakugo respects her passion for winning the match. This scene to me, is incredibly underrated.
His entire end monologue gave me chills
To be honest this is why I ship kacchako. Now most people won't agree with me but I ship them because he was literally the only one who believed in her. She even declined dekus offer that was all her. So that's why I ship kacchako.
THIS IS SUCHA A GOOD SCENE AND NO ONE TALKS ABOUT ITTTTT, thank you, I deeply love all about this
MAN.. you made me cry at 5am in the dark thinking about this arc you presented so well. Keep up the good work chad
Really great scene and underrated fight
I really liked today's video, and I also liked that you gave so much info about the anime because many of us either isn't into anime or Dunno what it is, so you try to shorten it down and give us a Lil feedback about it, also keep up the great work
Thanks a bunch and yeah I was sure a lot of viewers didn't watch it so I gave a bit of context to better explain the world and it's characters.
The part that made me tear up was when she fell from exhaustion. Giving it her all, but in the end it just comes crashing down.
I love that you're so new to anime and you give your sincere opinion on MHA. Thanks for making an entire video about this. I loved Uraraka's development, the choices she makes despite and with regards to her feelings, her background to "repay" he parents, her preparation for the mathup, the actual matchup against Bakugo and the resolution, with him telling the other classmates, "Which part of that girl was weak?" And thanks for focusing on the shot too. I did cry as well. I'm also a sucker for daddy's girl characters because I am one, and that phone conversation she had with her dad wrecked me and made me love her character more and grateful she is so unique in the show.
This was a great video, your voice is calming and very nice to listen to, amazing man, please keep up the good work
UNITED STATES OF SMASHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Yo Han Chris Tian oh god the memories did you see the vid
Uraraka talking to her dad and Jiro telling her parents she wants to become a hero both killed me. Wanting to make their parents proud is so relatable and seeing the parents be so supportive is just so powerful and emotional
I found this by accident but I was happy to hear that you're coming at My Hero as a new anime watcher which, up until three years ago, I was the same and got into Attack on Titan (followed by Death Note). Always nice to hear another outsider's perspective; I love this show so much. A few weeks ago, when they were going through the dorms, I was having a really good time after the first arc made me cry almost every episode after the Vanguard crashed the festivities. Sue's breaking down in the last moment of the episode got to me after I thought I'd made it through the episode without breaking down. Sigh... own media has nothing on My Hero in the superhero department.
This was a fantastic breakdown. Please do more from the anime! New subscriber. :)
This just made her my favorite character
9:35 “it’s enough to make a grown man cry”
Tbh, I cried ALL times while rewatching the arc
I agree.
Ochaco caught him off guard with the floating rocks and was able to keep dodging many of his explosions without combat like how other students fight.
She was also ready to keep the fight going had her body not give up from the over exertion of her quirk I think bc she had used it the whole time keeping the rocks floating. Had he not noticed sooner that would have possibly been lethal.
Even when she passed out Bakugo was unsure whether or not she would keep going and kept his guard up. So in that sense he knew she is someone to take seriously.
This scene made me like Ochaco bc she finally realized her true potential. It was an amazing fight and I did tear up when her parents called too.
Great analysis. I also love the way this moment compliantly flips everyone’s expectations of uraraka on its head by contrasting present mic and her friends expectations with bakugo and Aizawa’s complete respect for her as a rival. There was a lot of sexism going on in this part, and I loved the way this scene explored that. I really resonated with this scene as a girl who’s been doing martial arts for six years. It can be hard when your up against fighters who are simply physically stronger than you, but it’s the hardest when you feel like people don’t even respect you as an opponent or expect you to win, which made me really frustrated when I was urarakas age. When I was little, I didn’t want to be “girly” because It didn’t resonate with me, and I felt that people took “girly” characters less seriously. I’ll even say that I pegged uraraka as weak when I started watching the show, and I was so blown away when I had my own biases flipped on their head. With characters like miners running around, I really wasn’t expecting this from the show. I’m happy to take away a simple lesson: respect everyone (including yourself) like bakugo I respects uraraka. Expect the best from people, and give it your all because everyone deserves to be lifted up by everyone else. Never judge by what’s on the outside, have respect and eliminate judgment over everything that has nothing to do with character until only character remains. 😄💪🏼
Clicked right awayy
Btw I never saw you as an anime fan, full of surprises dude!
❤️
Thanks! Not much of one until about two months ago, really started getting into it around that time lol
Browntable nice im actually not into anime myself just came here to leave a view and a like
Thatonefukindude most people have watched at least one anime series.
Thatonefukindude its worth at least giving some shows a shot, good starting points would be one punch man or my hero academia if you like action, death note for drama, cowboy bebop or full metal alchemist brotherhood for just generally being awesome. If you like romance things...Yuri on ice?
This has gotta be the most perfectly themed video. The OST in the back, the tone of his voice, the explication of everything that the video is centered towards, Ochaco’s feelings and why she had such good character development
I will ALWAYS watch anything you post relating to My Hero Academia. Nice video essay, dude!
7:35 I know what you mean - Horikoshi seems to love doing that and it is actually a nice thing to make story better. When the one you were rooting for is ultimately losing or is almost defeated. We see it in OFA vs AFO, at the end of Overhaul arc and just recently in the newest fight that happens now in the manga. It makes it more realistic for the story to have those plotpoints.
Seriously when I've first time seen that scene in anime I haven't cried but now as soon as I've seen the seen where Ochaco was on the phone and you said you cried I started too :/
literally explained all that i was thinking/feeling while watching this exact episode. thanks for putting it into a great video!
The music in the backround when uruaka collapses really sets the weight of the situation and its mood
Uraraka took the best route possible honestly. If she were to even touch bakugou, he would just start shooting explosions to move around and get by. She wouldn't be at a total loss ofc but yk bakugou the mans a 1000 iq in secret he wouldve done smthn unexpected.
