►WE USE THIS SOUND RECORDER (AMAZON) - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/425k5rG
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/3WEuz0k
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv

What do you like about this video?
Her energy and insights 🍿
It’s existence. I needed all of this.
Please give us link to find the movies she introduced, i can't find non of them
Very lengthy and educative
“You should help other people make their own short films before you try to make your own” mind explosion
I loved this so much. I just wrote a short film script while watching this and then reached out to an actor to turn his song into a short film. He loves the idea. We never met. I just said , i love your song, i want to make it into a short film. So I just sent him the concept pitxh. We shall see. Gonna shoot for Austin film festival 😂 i have never shot with anyone before XD
😂 how funny. I commented half way through. Now I have listened to the end. Tarentino is my idol only because he made what he want. I listen and read everything I can get on tarentino even though I cant really watch his films because what he says is everything I cling to. That is movie making. I listen to Jason Sutterland (sp) on directing especially working with actors. I am able to do the editing and sound design myself because it is what I know. I was a photographer and artist so I know camera basics and framing. I know dialogue and watching people. NOW i just gotta do it and yes, a short film seems totally reachable. Thank you so much for dropping this video.❤🎉
Wish you the best hope finish your short film I aspire to get a couple dome this year and might put a feature film I wrote(70ish pages) on the back-burner because of what she says or I will make it into a short film and try to get funding and producers to support it.
I really am a huge fan of Kim Adelman and all of the Film Courage videos. This video is helping me negotiate my 3rd (or 4th?) rewrite for a short. There is no structure for shorts…
very extensive interview on making short films.
This video guide is fantastic. Upon reflection, I've identified numerous mistakes I made throughout the entire process of my short film. Many thanks gonna watch it a second time to make some notes.
Wonderful!
Yep, same. Great comment.
This is great, we were just talking on our podcast about some of the challenges for writing shorts (machinima / virtual production) - and we review them every week!
This is great 🎉
To play devils advocate like the interviewer did on the subject of shooting a scene of a short film for a proof of concept and ask, didn’t the success of the short film whiplash hinge on JK Simmons proving the proof of concept? I only mean to ask if that’s such a fair example to use during that topic. I would hazard a guess that anything at Sundance with an A lister in it will be taken seriously
thank you so much for all this valuable information!
Hi Doroteya! We're glad you find this one helpful! Best of luck with any short films you may have coming up!
@@filmcourage Thank you, I am currently working on one!
Wow, 2 and a half hours. Gonna listen to this at work tomorrow.
22:54 😂😂😂😂❤ was that a truck backing up
Thank you Chris Gore for recommending this.
Would love for you guys to check out our last short film, “Orenda”. It’s on our CZcams channel.
We have since filmed a feature, & are moving on to our 2nd one.
I’m just starting to get into my first screen play. I know I have a good 1 I just need help.
Here in Minnesota we have a festival called Z-fest, limit 7 minutes.
can u please interview Matthew Dicks, author of Storyworthy: Engage, Teach, Persuade, and Change Your Life through the Power of Storytelling. this is about collecting story ideas from life and make it to story..
I made a short with no money.. Won an award.. But I'm pulling it off the festival trail.. Not much to festivals nowadays.. Money grab
She has a lot of value to say, but she trails off way too often on a certain topic when she got her point across the first few seconds. Which is funny since she's talking about short films, you'd think she'd be concise in her words as well her knowledge of them.
I like 15 min
But 12min is my seeet spot
do not take the short film drinking challenge while watching this
thought they were talking about youtube shorts for a second
In a way they are
I would say South park pilot was low budget, and that turned out great.
