Missing Dar es salaam. Memories keep flooding as I watch your videos
Thank you very much Altaf for this video. We were staying exactly opposite to Jiva uncle's house in 1983/84. Me and my brother were always invited to his house during weekends to watch Hindi movies. I wonder if we did meet 'Nandu' during our visit to Jiva Uncle's house.
This video brought a lot of my childhood memories.
Thanks a lot Altaf.
I used to go for movies to his house at the same time lol. I remember he used to give me video cassettes which we used to hide inside our shorts lol. Nandu.... lol.
I know Nizari flats. Been there to fix the 1st TV's (Colour TV's, in the world). ZnZ and TZ were #1 in the world to have Colour TV (PAL, B/G. 6Mhz audio sound). Best food in the world. Thanks Altaf, Salute👍🙏
Thank you Allah Days bro .My memories are in the same patch but pre 1960...I could get my bearings ..What made me most happy was u scared of she who.must be obeyed.I am not the only one .🙏..My dad had his office in Alimanga building and O went to Agha Khan boys school.further up that road .you got a laid back happy to personality.c u in the next one don't stop
Thank you so much for taking time to make such a wonderful video 🙏 I’m honestly missing my birth place …
Altaf, next to it is D.A.Girks primary school.
There was just wild bush and lone shed like bungalow where this new 19 storey Mandir is under construction.
When on way to school and back, vwe would pass through the Mandir opposite, ring bell, take free prasad and come out on Zanaki street
Yes...the sign at the entrance of the school still says D. A. Girls School :)
It is still functional. My school, I visited in 2019 just before COVID started.
Then secondary was Aga Khan Mzizima sec school

Y’all Mollah 🙏🏼 Altaf bhai you were saying your Nanima lived at those ground floor Hses near Ithenashri Karbrastan nd in between Garden flats after the Walk from Aga Khan Hospital in the last episode ! Those houses were called Govind Paroo ! The kumbhar caste people used to Originally live there !
We lived at Crescent Flats, facing road to Mandir on 3rd Floor end flat. My father Purshottam Thanki who expired in 2007.

Unfortunately Kunduchi Beach Hotel is under renovation and I won't get a chance to go to Bahari Beach this time. I have done a small video of Crescent Flats during my last visit. You can watch it on my channel. I have also done a video of Oysterbay a few months ago. Its still the same and not changed since
Altafbhai,Thanks a lot for this clip..esoecially,Maratha Mandal from inside,as on today...Except the Badminton Hall, the entire lay out has been modified..No wonder,it is 60 yrs today, that I have seen Maratha Mandal...As you said, there are no radical changes in the area spanning Odeon roundabout to Hidu temples and library near Nizari flats..There were scores of huge khoongu trees where Nizari flats stnd today..and fete at Patel ground every year..I am quite certain that, your Dad and Natasha's Dad must be remembering it today....!!
Famous Madafu place at Odeon Cinema :). When walking from Uhuru Street to Kisutu, midway, the madafu break at Odeon Cinema 👍. Looks like they're still there. On the street where they sold vegetables right round the corner was a juice shop. Remember there was a stop going home from school and having fresh fruit juice in this shop with my classmates 👍. Thanks for the video upload!
I think I remember the juice shop....they used to do amazing fruit salad as well
Bro, right now I am in Canada on a project. A small glass of sugarcane juice is CDN $7. Ni kwa sababu ya transportation cost.
It was D.A GIRLS SCHOOL
Yap...went to have mix at Hari Bhai's during my last trip. Look for the video on my channel
Nice video. I would like to see new SGR station and Nkrumah and Samora streets area
Unfortunately I won't be able to go to the SGR station. Samora & Nkurumah will try in the car. Not many days left here
When you took us tour of garden flats my cousin Cricketer late Alnoor Fazal use to live in garden flat
My wedding reception was in Mombasa, Whitesands Beach Resort. Safari Sound Band played for my wedding. I practiced with them in Mombasa, for some songs we wanted. They were fantastic. Also, for one set, I played in the band at my own wedding reception :) Tanzania Oyee, Unguja na DSM Oyee.
