  • This Stihl 031 AV saw was my dad's and hasn't been run in about 5 years. It is about a 1974 model and has been a family staple for firewood and clearing for many years. We clean the carb and get it running then cut some firewood.

I bought an old Stihl 041 AV Super not long ago. It's heavy, but I prefer the deeper sound of the slower engine to the whine of new saws.

Thank for watching and commenting. Absolutely, that was the first thing I noticed when running that 031. Those old saws are so cool and honestly built to last as well! Thanks again have a great day and be safe!

Good video and job. It's hard to believe you didn't have to put in a carb kit. My dad got a 41 av new in the mid 70 s they are real Saw's the bar oiler on his will not work and they stopped making oiler for them. But it runs great. I have a 28 super and 46 and they are good Saw's. Have a 360 pro hate it. Hated the 230 ms easy start traded it for a echo 400 it ls a much better better saw. That wood makes nice lumber if you can find one that's has any size. Take care be safe and well.

Thanks! I was very impressed that saw got running so easily. I have never tried milling sassafras but there are some larger ones on the property. Our cabin property when I was growing up was loaded with them. If you opened the ground at all you thought you were in a root-beer shop. Have a great day and be safe!

WHAT was that guy with the flat file doing? Guessing at the raker height?

Thanks for watching and your comment. That isn’t a flat file, it is a round file in a file guide. I honestly couldn’t tell you what or how he does what he does, only that when he is done, she will cut! Have a great day and be safe!
