    Men's Medium Length
This module will teach how to cut a medium length haircut. We’re going to take a haircut that is grown out that has a lot of length and density that doesn’t translate to a style and turn it into a haircut with length and density that does translate into a style.
    Step one
First remove density and taking vertical sections, removing weight from the outside out. When removing density, soften up the weight internally. Take vertical sections and remove all the weight to soften up the density. Go inside the hair to remove the weight, all the way from the root. Closer you get, longer the client can go without a haircut.
    Step two
When all the weight has been removed, refine the hair by grabbing it where it feels heavy and soften up any weight that may not be equalized by the technique. Next point cut over comb and remove length that doesn’t make sense. Refine the hairline using the comb to elevate the hair. Continue through to the back, point cutting over comb removing the initial length. When transitioning to the hair line, use sheers to refine that neckline, opening and closing to clean up that hairline.
    Step three
After removing all the length from the perimeter line, take vertical sections and soften up the line that has grown out. Goal here is to soften up those lines so the hair has a softer finish. The ends have bluntness to it, point cut through, elevating up and lightening the ends.
    Step four
Go back in and refine and remove density. Soften up the weight, grabbing the hair that feels too heavy, and remove more length.
    Step five
To refine the hair line, use clippers to remove access hair around the neck.
While looking at the before and after, density was removed, collapsing the shape and then refining the perimeter length to soften it up and make it a style that can be worn in different ways. The goal is to understand the difference between length and density. When growing out hair, ask if growing the length or growing out density or both. This particular case try to keep the hair long but not thick and bulky because the hair just lays there and doesn’t move around with products.
