Right on the money! The only thing that I'd add is, that the middle position using both pickups with a fair amount of overdrive is probably one of the most gratifying sounds that you can make with a Jaguar.
For anyone who doesn't know, Oz is a fantastic songwriter and his band Oz and the Kryds are wild, they deserve all of your support! real music real energy good times
What?!?! The first Andertons video ever that wasn't totally cringe and I honestly enjoyed it. More Oz please! Good job!
You did a stellar job of demoing the guitar. I suspect we will see more of you here on YT.
Thanks man!! Appreciate the vote of support haha!🙌
@@ozpowell6589 what effects boxes did you use?
@@kennethbeavers6903 Barely anything. Just the Pantheon for a little gain where needed and a Russian Pickle for the outro fuzz!🙂
I was well Impressed, talented editor, musician and now presenter! What a dude, great job man.
@@czechplastik big up man thank you!!💕💕
You did a great job and this seems would be a great addition to the team! Very much appreciated to hear your different style of playing, felt needed!
Well done in your first appearance Oz!
Wonderful breath of fresh air to see Oz in front of the camera doing a perfect short and sweet demo.
I dig your energy and playing style, Oz. Great addition to the Anderton's lineup of presenters
I had asked for a Jaguar like this a while back and my word, it's just as beautiful as I could have ever imagined! Even the body/headstock color is what I commented too and I really love it! Even better is that these short scale Jaguar necks are far more stable than the alternatives too. 1x to Texas please, thank you! 💸😁👍🏼
Great video! Wonderful explanation of the Jaguar's tones and features. Hope we get to see Oz again soon!
Great job explaining it, got it now! And some really great rock rhythm chops! Also, I feel like royalty being bowed to so much!! You rock, sir.
Love this dude's excitement. Genuine feeling for that Jaguar.
Very nice guitars, playing and presenting Oz! If only Fender/Squier currently offered Jazzmasters with Candy Apple Red finishes, matching headstock and red tort pickguards. That would be my absolute dream guitar that I would get in a heartbeat!
kevin shields?
New AVII JM in Dakota Red is hot af
I never understood Lee or Pete's explanation of the switches. This time I get it.
Thank you OZ!
I bought a Jag body and neck from Warmoth more than a year ago & still can't decide what pickups to try. I'm stumped with too many choices these days. And I'm a beginner so I can't go by experience or knowledge. It is routed for humbuckers.
if youre still looking Lollar make fantastic jaguar pickups! they are what I have in mine
Look up EP Customs. Small boutique shop in California. Hand winds each set based off ‘62 Jag specs. Built to order and great support. They sound amazing. Also look into using a 920dD wiring harness with the 1meg pots. The tone is insane.
@@jackw.2084
Thank you for the suggestion!
@@ubermac85 Thank you for the tips! I have the 920D harness, Kluson tuners, Mastery bridge & trem + the shiny bits gathered so far. I bought a pick guard for humbuckers, but have since changed my mind.
Wow. Great review. Very lively and expressive.
You really enjoy what u do.
And it SHOWS
That was awesome, thanks Oz!
Great demonstration, many thanks!
Really liked Oz as a presenter, would be happy to see him in more content going forward
Best walkthrough of a Jaguar guitar I’ve seen. Thank you. Made it feel a lot less complicated than I had thought being a tele player predominately:)
More vids from this dude! Nicely done 👌
Nice! Pretty good to see you at the front end!
The CV series is great for modding. I got the surf green one. I changed the pickups for vintage ‘62 customs, swapped out the entire wiring harness with 1 Meg pots, added a mute, swapped out the tremolo with a fender AVRI, added gotoh vintage locking tuners, Changed the pickguard to mint, added a 1° neck shim, copper shielded the cavities, had the frets leveled and dressed and a complete professional setup done. Spent more on parts and installation than on the original guitar, but it sounds and plays like a custom shop, but looks like a 70’s surf Jag and still cost less than a Player series. Even my luthier was impressed with it after all the work was done. He said it rivals Am Pro and custom shop Jags he’s worked on. It’s honestly my favorite guitar right now.
hi Scott, the lack of sustain is common in this kind of guitar?
@@3vilElvis honestly, the whole sustain debate is overestimated... i must admit i recently realized i like guitars that have "less sustain" because for funk or for fast picking it's cleaner.....
i know it sounds weird but on guitars with awesome natural sustain (20 seconds or more) the harmonics of what you played 1,2 seconds ago keep resonating a bit on the wood...
Is the Jaguar the most versatile guitar of the Fender range? You can make it sound like a Tele, you can make it sound like a Strat, you can make it sound like a Jag. And lots of different tones in between. Add some pedals and the scope is endless. I also think they look awesome too.
I agree Mr Dalby. The Cobain Jaguar on the rhythm current can sound like a Gibson too.
@@rexrathtar3893 Discuss! What in your opinion is?
A Jaguar HH with coil splitting is the most versatile guitar in existence.
@@jonunderscore I will not disagree! I find that to be the truth for me as well.
@@rexrathtar3893 You do know what Versatile means Rex? Of course you do, hence why I find your comment, although well written, a little strange.
So your idea of versatility is to buy exactly what you are trying to replicate, which completely bypasses the meaning of versatile.
If you want one guitar that sounds like a Strat, sounds like a Tele and sounds like a Jag, and as has been mentioned, sounds like a Gibson, you buy the Jag. You don't go and buy all four guitars.
My OP said "is the Jag the most versatile guitar in the Fender range?" A lot of people would say it is.
Very Cool. Awesome Demo/Review Thankyou.
My man, great job!!!!!!
Great review, really informed opinion!
Great video! I would love to see this guy more on the channel.
You did a great job Oz!!
this was a great review!
Great demo man
Yes! Nice one Oz!
💕💕💕
Liked that riff you were playing at 7:12 sounded great on the bridge pick up
Sincerely hoping that matching headstocks are gonna be a mainstay in the squier lineup. The newest models look fantastic
Totally agree! That Olympic white looks so amazing with the matching headstock.
GREAT DEMO MAN VERY WELL EXPLAINED
Love your riffage styles🌟
Hey, that was bloody fantastic, Oz, usually the man behind the scenes. Cool having you demo.
Very good product review. Explained the controls well and demonstrated the tones better than mode CZcams guitar reviews. Liked your quirky style. What really would be helpful would be to compare the tones to a Tele or Strat. My experience is that Jags have a "thinner" tone. This may not still be true and I would be interested.
A lot of the Jag tone is the pickups and wiring. I switched out my pups for custom ‘62 winds and a 1meg harness and the tone got MUCH darker and richer than the stock Squier pups and harness. I will say you get 7 distinct tones just from. The switches and circuits alone.
@@ubermac85 Good point. But... an argument can be made that you are better off starting with a guitar that you like the tone? Or...one has experience with after market pickups so after spending $300+ they know they will get an improvement. I wrote to Pete that a CZcams channel that reviews pickups in common model guitars would be great. For example to review and compare a Squire Tele with Monty's pickups would be great.
Well done!
I Got the silver sparkle . AWESOME 60s ,
jaguar guitar was an underdog among the fenders
Sweet Slashing sounds so smooth and d versatile
The beeeeest review!!! Soo cool rifts!! \m/
Cool video! I like this guy! Hope to see you more on the channel 😎👍
Quickly tried a silver sparkle jag in the shop the other day, amazing finish and great neck, not to heavy, didn't plug it though 😑
But it felt like a great instrument, hope these new Squiers attracts more new players to this shape. Jags don't get enough recognition !
Refreshing to see a Jaguar player review a Jaguar guitar! Nice job Oz!!
Those Jags look and sound amazing. Well done fender/squire.please make the bass version of those cool cats.
Johnny Marr , that sound on Smith’s and even solo. A fine tool.
He never used a Jag with The Smiths. Only after playing with Modest Mouse and The Cribs did he pick up a Jaguar
Hello Oz. Good show.
You have a good "Feel" for sound and style so far I think.
Good explanation, thanks
Very nice walk-trough ! Thanks 5/5
This oz guy is amazing ❤ your work!
Great job Oz!🙏😇🙏👍
Welcome Oz!!! I'm 75 ..you name it I've done it, been there got the T-shirt. Spent years in the 70's playing original Prog in London's West End clubs. met most of the big players and hung out with those that still no one stops talking about.Tell the Captain I said you should have your own regular spot as a host. I will be here for your next vid. Get prepared ..you only have a few days 🤨
cool vid man. Nice to see a new face with a new style. More punky surfy indie goodness please Oz! Oh the guitar was cool too, i am also a fan of the fuzzy jaguar / jazzmaster sound. Much as we love Lee n Pete its a nice change to move towards a less 80's dad rock, cheese platter. 🤣 A little 90's shoegazey, swervedriving is always a good thing! yay!
Oz fantastic demo of the Jaguar, Jeff in LA USA
Great - love jaguars! Thanks sideshow ninja!
Awesome video
Awesome review and awesome guitar!🤘 I'm really tempted on buying that White beauty from Sweetwater for the meantime, I'll just wait and save for the new fender Vintera 70s Jag that vintage white with black inlay too cool for school 😎🎸 keep rocking man👍
I was in a nirvana mood at guitar center today and bought one of these in the light blue that Kurt had as an impulse buy along with a ds1 I'm Glad you showed what all the switches do because I was really confused
More Oz on the show! So easy to listen to! Be sick to get him in for a blindfold challenge
This video just sold me on a Jaguar. I’ve always loved the look and sound of them (yeah I’m a Nirvana fan whatever) but this sold it for me. I had no idea what they were fully capable of and now i’m obsessed. It is undoubtedly my next guitar
Somehow Oz has some of Josh’s vibe, I don’t know why. Amazing to have Mr. McDonald on the show!🤘🏻
I like Oz. Well done. I really want a Jag now, too!
strangle switch explanation is backwards but he played with it in and out so you heard the difference. in the down position, which is pickups off on the other switches, the strangle is on. its a mid cut so the low end is more present. in the up position ("pickup on"), the strangle is off and the mid tones mask the lows and highs. i built a custom from jaguar parts i found over the years and had to memorize this for when it came time to wire and test. in case anyone cares, 62 japanese reissue body, cobain mexican neck, duncan antiquity pups, mastery bridge.
Sounds awesome! Are the antiquity pups a better fit for the sound of that guitar? Would love to see a picture of your creation.
Liked this new guy. Different style in presenting and in playing.
you made the best review of these.... ever...
whats the difference on the Cv 60s and 70s jaguar besides the matching headstocks? 🙆🏻
i need to choose 😍
Top demo. Top guitar . Top fuzzy echoey vibrato arm thing . Even more skronkin' would've nailed it totally.
Never played a jag but yeah best example of the switches that I've seen
MORE FROM THIS FELLER PLZ! Punk demos???
I hope you do more videos Oz!
Nice review! Since Pete wasn’t here, I’ll add “it’s very poplar!”
Oh, hello new person at Andertons, great video! I must admit though, when I saw the thumbnail I thought you were wearing a wig lol
your style reminds me of The Big Push from Brighton, english rock n' roll all the way
You're very good Oz, tell Lee and Pete to give you more videos.
Sid Viscious IS NOT DEAD ... Hahaha, cant resist. Great video, really nice to watch.
It's nice to put a face to the disembodied voice you sometimes hear from off camera
I definitely want to add a Jag to my stable one day.
I'd like to see Oz and Dave Simpson in a video together!
more vids from this dood!
Likes the Fuzz . Except when they're " Feeling his Collar " and " Appropriating " his Stash .
Jaguars are an Iconic Guitar . With a Sound all their own .
It does do the thing
xcuse but one question for the amplifier- why are there 2 amplifiers, is the bigger one for making the smaller one louder? or is the big one even switched on? answer would be reallyyy appreciated!
Its beyond me why so many people dont really use the rhythm circuit, i always digged it.
I love it too. Goes great with some fuzz on top and you don't have to touch the tone up there... I also have the Cobain Jaguar and it honestly pushes me off into a lot of Rolling Stones music as well as the best Gibson sound Fender has ever made. Rhythm with fuzz hits in the chest, you really feel it.
Ive got a Squier VM Jag and Jazz and whist I love the rhythm circuit on the Jazz its relatively underwhelming on my Jag. Tho that could mainly be down too the fact that the Jazzs bridge pickup is kinda underwhelming and vice versa on the jag where the neck pickups the dud. Tho that might just be down to the Duncan pickups in older squiers.
I play lead. The mediocre guitarist in our band plays rhythm. I have no use for a rhythm circuit, and have disabled it on my Silver Sparkle.
@@Great-Documentaries bro trashing on his bandmate 💀
@Great-Documentaries you sound like a wonderful band mate mate
Great, an Andertons vid that isn't confused by something that isn't a Strat/LesPaul and no Clapton/Dire Straits!
More of this young fellow would be 👍 👌
Would love to get Oz to do a jaguar vs jazzmaster vid
noted💕
Love this guitar, this dude, his musical style, his content presentation style, his look, and his attitude. He just sold a guitar or two.
Brilliant review. Great playing and yes I do now understand the circuits. Cheers.
Those FSR 60‘s Jag‘s have very variable quality-I had to take my first one back as it had faulty frets -the second one is ok, but the nut is cut too high and some of the pickguard screws have been put in crooked. The Chinese Classic Vibe production guitars are far superior in terms of fit, set up and finish.
Oz's appearance reminds me of Michał Wiśniewski (a Polish pop star).
This guy is the new captian
the only person I ever seen play a Jag was Gavin from Bush. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else. I always heard they were more made for jazzy style
This was certainly a video I wish Lee and Pete could’ve done 😐
Really liked the modern editing approach in this video! :D
Buy a Jag, they're great, but at the same time buy heavier gauge strings (11s) and locktite thread locker so the flippin bridge stays in place.... Oh and Monty's espresso wax so you can stain the laurel board a nice dark hue.
Nice to see a fresh face. Like adding a new colour to the palette. Nice job Oz
Great demo and explainer - hope to see more of you on the channel.
That single coils is bad ass
Guys the olimpic white is sexy AF. im i bassist and i got a olimpic white p bass, but this guitar is so sexy it made me wanna learn more guitar im next future
Nice Jazzma.. I mean Jaguar. Good job!
