This group honestly catched my interest far more than I thought it would. After watching the songs and the guide, I already started re-watching the MVs and checked out the Recording Behind the Scenes from Hot Sauce and Hello Future 😂
After that I had their names and faces pretty much all down (at least for the new stuff😂still struggling with the Boom MV)
I think this might be the fastest I've ever learned the different members of a group :D
And YES! I will absolutely check out their comeback next week, I'm already SO EXCITED from just the teaser photos! (Jeno with pink hair!!!!!😍)

Because "Boom" came out in 2019, there were only 6 members in NCT-Dream. Mark, the leader/captain of the group, had "graduated" from NCT-Dream at this time and he was no longer included in NCT-Dream activities. However, Heechan, who also is a member of NCT-127, was just recovering from an injury, as well as promoting as a member of NCT-127 -- with Mark and the other 127 members -- in the U.S. at this time, so he was only able to participate in part of the MV. That's why most of the choreography parts have only 5 members and you only see all 6 of them dancing together at the end.
The whole point of "Boom" is to showcase how much the Dream members have grown and matured, etc.
I always find it funny that Jisung, who is the maknae (the youngest of all 23 members) of NCT -- he was 17 years old here -- is the member who is the tallest and the one with the deepest voice. "Boom" is where we see Jisung turn from a boy into a young man.
Although "Ridin'" came out in April 2020, Mark was busy promoting with NCT-127 and SuperM at this time, so you won't see him back participating in any activities with NCT-Dream until their "Deja Vu" track video which came out in October 2020. That is why you still only saw 6 members in "Ridin.'" There is a period of almost 2 years where Mark is not part of NCT-Dream.
"Hot Sauce" and their title track "Hello Future" were their most recent comeback releases, which came out in May and June 2021, so as you saw, those songs included all 7 members.
As with all of NCT's MVs, you should really check out the dance practice for "Boom", "Ridin'", "Hot Sauce" and "Hello Future." You will be even more impressed with their dancing when you see the choreography in full without any cuts or edits.
To get to know the NCT-Dream better, it makes more sense to react to their MVs in order of when they were released. As you will start to discover, as you go along and see some of NCT-Dream's older material, you will see and hear how their style has grown and changed over time. That is also part of the group's concept. As the members grow and mature so to does there sound and style. That is why they debuted with their song "Chewing Gum" which has a very cute and bubbly concept that fits the fact that they were all teenagers at the time. They had to grow and mature into the sound you hear now. SM's no dummy when it comes to creating groups that gain global popularity. It just goes to show you why it's one of the Big 3 entertainment companies in the world. :D
As you may know, NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016, and it is made up of the 7 youngest members of the group. All the Dream member's are currently between the ages of 20 and 22 years old (they were 14-17 when they debuted.) SM originally created this sub-unit with the idea that if they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees. The way NCT-Dream originally was designed to work was that the members were part of the group until they turn 19 and become an adult. SM's original plan was that when the members turned 19 they were supposed to graduate from the group and they were no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark (who is also a member of NCT-U, NCT-127 -- the only NCT member to debut as part of all of NCT's first 3 sub-units -- and SuperM) "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun, who had all turned 19, we thought would be graduating in 2019. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime in 2020 and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole " graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group.

Nct dream is a bunch of really fun and noisy kids. You will have fun watching their content, I recommend rooftop fight. And also check out their bside, they got so much color in their discography lot of great chill song too which you can't help but like it

I wanted to go in k-pop flex as well because it's almost in the neighbour (I live in Finland xD). But first of all, I'm so broke and I'm too busy at school and work 😭 Maybe one day I'll get to see my NCT babies irl. I wanna see all the 23 of them or at least some them. I hope they'll come to Sweden some day so it'll be easier for me to travel 😅 There's no way that they'll ever come to Finland 🙄

as you already watch the guide. But, I just want to say it again here, they are called "dream" because they are the Dream with young age that time as we know their debut era in 2016, they are so young.
Unfortunately because of overlapped schedule with NCT 127, MARK and HAECHAN won't go to germany. So you'll only see 5 of them live.

The easiest way to explain the NCT units is that there are *currently* 23 members split into 3 *fixed member* units *(NCT 127. NCT Dream and WayV)* and 1 *non-fixed member* unit *(NCT U)* .
As the labels would suggest, in fixed member units the member line up typically doesn't change... and in the non-fixed unit, any number/combination of the 23 members can be on any given track. One track could be 2 members, on another it could be 9. We really only see NCT U on special all-member albums (as opposed to unit albums).
It's easiest to learn the members by the unit, instead of all of them at once... but even saying that, I found this group to be one of the easiest to learn, whereas I've struggled to put names to faces for 5 member groups. 🤷♀️ I don't know... NCT has particularly distinct faces, imo.
Also, in case no one mentioned it... one of the WayV members is European. YangYang (pronounced Yahng Yahng) was born in Taiwan, but grew up in Dusseldorf. 😊

There are actually quite a few German kpop idols... YangYang as mentioned and Alex Schmidt from Drippin' who was born in Mainz, oh and the Huening siblings (Kai-TXT and Bahiyyih-Kep1er) whose father is German come to mind immediately, but I know there are more. Pretty sure I remember seeing a list on Kpop Profiles once if you want to see more! 😄

You were so right that Dream was originally seen as the Voice of the Youth that when listening to the songs, it gives the youth the hope to dream.
So when you check their earlier songs prior to Boom and Ridin (the first 2 you listened to) their songs are really youthful sounding, even the lyrics.
Weirdly, that stopped a bit when Mark graduated.
So Ridin and Boom were a bit darker themes.
Then when Mark came back, their theme had more touch of youthfulness again lol
That's why the Dreamies (that's what they callbthe members) said that Mark brought the Youth back to Dream :)
(well though he is the leader, they actually treat Mark as one of the babies of the group for some reason haha)
