- The Sicily-Rome American Cemetery is one of two American military cemeteries located in Italy. More than 10,800 American heroes who lost their lives during World War II are buried there and more than 3,000 are honored on the Walls of the Missing.
The majority of these men and women died in the liberation of Italy during the landings in the Salerno and Anzio areas, and in air and naval support in the regions.
Together, We Remember their sacrifice.

Every grave in anzio means a hero, who fought for me and the whole world to restore our freedom, the medal of honor belongs to all of them starting from anzio, omaha beach, malmendy and so on, thank you for your service🙏

Thank you. I visited in 1993. The US Embassy Military Attache in London was most generous with his time in getting info on my 2nd cousin who is interred there. When I arrived after getting lost driving from Rome, the Cemetery's Commander was the kindest of people. It is a majestic place to honour our dead, but such a sad, sad place seeing the markers of all those young men and women lost in battle for freedom. I thank you for keeping their memories sacred.
My family is from Sicily and we were moved to know this..

In 2018 I visited this cemetery in Netuno. I could stay there all day just saying thank you for each one soldier that lost their lives for a freedom that we are contemplating today. I stayed in Netuno for 30 days in 2018. This little town and the Citta di Anzio has a lot of history. When I visited this cemetery I heard a story from a lady that is an employee about an Italian soldier that fought in the WWII and that he is still alive. She said that he comes to the cemetery almost every single day to visit his American friend that lost his life in Netuno. Mannnn when I heard that, I cried like a baby as I am now. I originally from Brazil, but I have lived in the United States for over 20 years. I have been in Italy 3 times and I confess that Italy is like my home. Everytime that I visit Italy I feel like I travel into history and not only from the both WWs, but from the ancient times (Roman empire). God bless Italy and the USA. God bless the world. I lived nearby in 2008 and use to visit the memorial. As you walk around the grounds the gravestones seem to move around you due to the way they are positioned in lines. I hope to visit again someday.
I plan to visit during my trip to Italy next year. Every bit an artistic and moving memorial as the ancient artifacts in Rome itself.
I visited the cemetery yesterday with my wife’s niece and our two grandchildren. A beautiful, sacred place and well worth the train ride from Rome to Nettuno.
Not sure if any friends of my Grandfather's are interned here. He was a Canadian member of The U.S./ Canada First Special Service Force. He landed on The Anzio beach head and saw action at The Mussolini Canal Monte La Difensa and up the boot and the drive to Rome.
