Emotional royals: Queen Máxima, queen Letizia and Empress Masako

- Empress Masako of Japan has a special relationship with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and Queen Letizia of Spain. They gave eachother special long hugs and kisses and seem to have given the Empress a lot of compliments. Masako also greeted the Malaysian royal couple, the King and Queen of the Belgians and the King and Queen of Bhutan. All the queens wore a tiara. Queen Máxima chose the diamond bandeau. It has a total of 65 carats. Empress Masako wore the Meiji tiara, like all the empresses did in more than a century. The tiara looks a bit like the Girls Of Great Britain tiara, owned bij queen Elizabeth. Queen Mathilde opted for the Nine Provinces Diadem which was given to her husbands grandmother Queen Astrid (1905-1935) at her wedding with Leopold III, King of the Belgians. Jetsun Pema, the queen of Bhutan, chose a small golden diadem with diamonds while queen Tunku Azizah of Malaysia opted for the biggest one out of her collection.

Empress Masako has been struggling in the imperial family. She has received a lot of bashing from the media. The media attacked that she wanted diplomacy rather than pregnancy. They also accused she of having only a daughter and no son. Empress Masako was temporarily ill due to these reasons.

All the royals have interesting stories. The Japanese princess was a diplomat , who wasn't sure if she wanted to marry into royalty . But the Prince was persistent and she gave in. Similarly, with Princess Letizia, who was a news presenter. The young King of Bhutan can have multiple wives but he has chosen not to. He knew the queen for many years before he married her. A real down to earth King.

I wonder where all these people get their royal protocol license to berate Queen Letizia and calling her “undignified.” First and foremost, this is not the first time they have seen each other and have spoken several times. Second, the Emperor and Empress of Japan met at the tea party for the King of Spain’s elder sister Infanta Elena. And lastly, both Queen Letizia and Empress Masako were empowered working women who gave up their careers for duty. They also share a sad story of not being able to bear a son. well mmmmmmmmm I think it has something to do with the Asian culture. Though, they are both kings ( to be exact, one King and One Emperor), but the Japanese Emperor is more senior in age and not just 6 or 7 years. So, automatically and generally, Asian will keep certain physical distance from the senior as a sign or gesture of respect. But the Bhutanese king is known and loved for his humble nature.

At least in Japan, Queen Letizia's actions were received very favorably. It's not as rude as written in other comments.
Empress Masako and Queen Letizia are from commoner and have careers in society, and have the common point that children are women only.
However, Imperial House of Japan is a thorough male chauvinism. There was a criticism that Empress Masako's career was denied and she couldn't have a boy.
Queen Letizia showed her sincere congratulations and compassion to Empress Masako who had such a hard time. We are grateful to her.
Empress Masako surely does need a lot of support for the coming time and I am very happy to see Queen Letizia and Queen Maxima to give and show their support....in public. 💟
