Pops, regarding Shaye's compositions being copyrighted, I recently posted a video of "Some Kind-A-Shake" and CZcams notified me that there is now a copyright claim on the tune. I had posted previous videos of it and it was not copyrighted back then. It will be interesting to see if future postings of her other compositions have copyright claims.
Very interesting, James. Thanks. Writing music for the band used to be just a fun thing to do, I suppose; but it should indeed become a professional concern.
Copyright claims on CZcams seem to have very little to do with actual copyright law. CZcams acts first and doesn't seem to investigate at all, sometimes even after a claim is challenged. A copyright claim can be made without actually being the copyright holder. CZcams doesn't seem to check. On several occasions people have used copyright claims as a source of income since ad revenue is immediately transferred from the content with the copyright claim to the claimer. CZcams copyright claims have also been used to sniffle criticism since fair use seems to be completely ignored. For example the few bars Pops Coffee uses as example could be subject to a CZcams copyright strike.
Very interesting video. Yes I have not your knowledge of traditional Jazz so it is always very interesting your thoughts about the background of Tuba Skinny and their music. Your book is so exciting. I always reading in them to get more background information. All of Shayes compositions are fancy and stands for it is own. Thank you for reminding me to Salamanca Blues. A very beautiful tune. Somehow because of the trombone solo at the beginning it reminds me to "Little Dog at the Levee" by Max. When Shaye composed Salamanca Blues in 2012. I mean that Max was not a member of the band. Ryan Baer or Stalebread Scottie often played on the string instruments during this time. Around 2014 Max and Jason became regular members of the band. Max maged the recording and mix of their album "Owl Call Blues". He becomes more and more another composer of the band. His compositions have a similar beautiful and melancholic kind of music too like Shaye in some of her masterpieces. It would be fantastic if you would continue this series about the band original tunes and their band member composers Max, Robin, Barnabus and Craig. Barnabus Chalmette Sunsets is one of my favourite in their repertoire. The melody is so beautiful. And I love " Kicking the Rocks" and "Sweet Olive" by Robin. Craig's "Proximity Effect seems a very tricky tune. Thanks for everything Best wishes to you Dave from Berlin Germany 👋
Thanks for taking so much trouble, Dave. You are quite right about the way the band has evolved and also about the talents of its musicians as composers. When I last checked, the band had in its repertoire 29 tunes that were composed by its members. These included four by Max and five by Robin.
I have a ticket to see Tuba Skinny next Saturday, Dec 18 in NOLA!! Thank you for the discussion on "Say Si Si" and things I've learned to be aware of. I'll try to shoot some photos while there.
Pops….. listening too you, is fascinating, on about Bars, Chords, Arpeggios, something I have no clue about, at all, your talking of keys, these tunes, you let us hear, we’re very good, but it was your, interpretation, if all of this, that was fascinating! Pops, I will have umpteen tunes, that I will hum too, without knowing anything, about the nuts& bolts of what’s going on, Shaye is obviously, a very good composer, and they way you were explaining things, about the copyright, and her material, being a bit tricky for others to copy, with a band of musicians, with different instruments! Pops I will listen back on your “ video “ at different times, and even although I still might not, twig what’s going on, I will try and give it a go! 😂 Pops , these Arpeggio’s are fascinating, and I might listen to the song, you were on about, where they all have to be on, their toes, concentrating for their piece! Pops, Thanks for this video of yours, you really do explain things, very well, and you’re very humble at the same time 👍😊🏴
@@PopsCoffee Thanks Pops, I certainly do, thanks for your input, because you certainly, know what your talking about, and those individuals, who do have a clue, must be very pleased, that someone like you,is there, more times than not, giving valuable information, for them too savour! Thanks for those observations, Mark. I find them interesting, even though I chose not to apply for any financial benefit from my CZcams videos.
Enjoyed that inteview thoroughly, Pops. So very interesting.
Thank you, Edwin.

Lucky you, Bill! Hope you have a great evening.
Thank you for going to so much trouble as always. Much appreciated.
Thanks, Gordon.
Why not contact Shay and ask for the music. It is so easy to print it these days.
@@SetemkiaFawn Indeed. You are welcome to try this.

I think CZcams is a game changer; in other words "they call the shots". To H with the rest!
