Your comments is what drives me, please take a minute to say "Hello" and let me know what your thoughts are on this video.

The car that refined small, cheap sports cars and one that showed MG how to build a small sports car that is both reliable and doesn't always leak when it rains.
The MX5 is a great driving icon.

Especially old Miatas. There are still a lot of low mileage, practically brand new 25 yo Miatas around. When I see them I want to buy them and add them to my collection... One can't have too many Miatas! Truth be told, personally, I have just one.

My Son and I just did a 900 mile round trip from Scotland to South of London to purchase a 91 red Mk1 MX5 as his second ever car after a Fiesta. On the journey we encountered two other examples both red a Mk1 and a Mk2. It is quite a tidy example that we intend to restore to show car standard but to use predominately as a summer daily driver. It is a bit noisy but after my first drive in it I can see the attraction of ownership. I was proud that his first drive was 450 solo miles without incident with at least half with the roof down. We hope to enjoy many years of ownership with the odd day with the roof down here in "Sunny" Scotland. I really enjoyed your video on some stunning roads.

Anna, you are so correct. New cars are just too big with too much stuff which will probably never be used. For my own part, I bought a Toyota MR2 back in 1985, still own it with just 53000 miles. Unfortunately the dreaded rust got hold but it's actually being fully restored right now. I am going to keep it and use it. Similar to the MX 5 it was a standard setter in the day. But with no power steering, air bags, cup holders, traction control blah blah blah, it weighed nothing but fitted with a hot little 1.6 engine, it was, for the day quite a rocket. Cannot wait to get it back, I will probably use it over the modern stuff!

HI Anna. Love all your reviews. I'm a life long car enthusiast at age 56. My first favorite car was a toy GM concept bubble top 2 seater at age 4. Then at age 6 I saw a 68 ford mustang and that became my favorite just on it's looks, till the 1970 corvette stingray came out. After that I loved and enjoyed many different cars but none as much as the MX5. In 2011 after a short test drive I bought a 91 miata. Since then I've owned 8 different years, 2 being NB's, the rest NA's, and discovered there are many differences on various NA and NB models as they change in hp, handling, and other features. Now I'm back to the most simple model the 1990 in classic red. I had the same surprise and pleasure as you driving my first one and still love it and smile every time I go for a spin. It makes every day driving a sweeter pleasure. My favorite car to date is the MX5 because it's hard to drive anything else once you get a taste. It's reliable, economical, inexpensive and so fun. Excellent review on your first classic Miata. I hope you may discover some of the qualities of different year special factory models and review them too. It would be a great archive for miata seekers and owners. Thanks for the great videos.

Great review! After so many years it’s amazing how they’ve been able to keep making it and even improving it. Although I think the older ones are better in some ways. Newer ones have more hp but less interior spaces for storage like no glove box. But for an affordable sports car that the average worker can get, MIATA IS THE ONLY ANSWER!. I think it’s more fin then a Porsche Boxster. You’re not afraid of repairs or depreciation! The less you spend the less you lose. Best bang for your buck... as you see after a nice drive in the oldest version!

Hey Anna, welcome to old school! This could be the beginning of something for you. My oldest car was a red 1962 Triumph TR4. Just 100bhp, 110 mph flat out, 0-60 in 10 seconds, simple cart sprung back axle. But the rorty sound from the big 2.2 litre 4 cylinder, the intake roar from the twin SU carburettors, the super light, direct steering, the lovely mechanical feel of the gear change, the wind in your hair. It was pure magic. Like you say, forget motorways, cities, daily commutes. Head out down twisting country roads on a sunny day and these old sports cars come alive! From your reactions in the video, I think you know what I mean! :)

Lovely video. I just purchased a 1999 Miata, for less than some spend on an expensive set of wheels and tires for the new overly electrified cars. I also have a Honda S2000, and feel the Miata is part of a timeless masterpiece.

Minimalistic joy... Like you, I’ve never been drooling over vintage cars - other than Countachs, Testa Rossi’s and likes - but I can get the attraction to the MX-5... Is it really a combination that won’t work - modern technology and feel that almost makes the car an extension of the driver? Modern cars are great - power, convenience, even looks (in some cases) - but almost without an exception, they just isolate the driver from the car... I think you should do more classic car reviews, how about a Lamborghini Countach, or the original Porsche Boxster (did I just say that, I don’t even like Porches)... Great video, but is it really that warm in Switzerland, or did you film this last summer? 😎

quite old for some, quite small, but beautiful in her own unique way, stylish, sexy, with big blinking eyes, teasing you to touch her and make her scream, or just drive her gently so you become as one ... i'm talking about this mazda (you all dirt-minded maniacs).

Owned a 90, 92 autocross car, and my favorite. A 93le. Really great cars. Very fast on the curves. Sway bars, intake, headers, high flow cat, exhaust. A whopping 130 hp.😂 Still plenty fast. Lots of 😁

Good review as always Anna. It shows that whilst modern cars are great, there are plenty of older cars which offer cheap, fun driving and the MX5 has stood the test of time. I like the colour schemed wooden steering wheel/gearstick too.

Thank you so much Jay, it just happened to be in the press fleet of Mazda Switzerland. But this is very unusual for brands in general, to have vintage cars in their press fleet. Mazda in Switzerland, however, is very unique, in a very good way.

MX5 once driven, never forgotten. Anna, have you thought about trying either an original BMC MIni or an 80's hot hatch? The Mini will be an experience unlike anything you have ever tried. The best front wheel drive car ever. And please stay safe.

Thanks Anna for a professional movie made. Anna certainly is a beautiful and wonderful car Mazda MX5 Miata. It was wonderful, except for what you have mentioned again using the key to open the door and start the engine, no mass electronics and screens as well as everything else you have put in today's cars. Just turn the key and enjoy the curvy road and switch with gear lever instead of paddles at the wheel.

Nice review, the 1.6 '91 MX-5 only has 116hp, not 140. The 1.8 from '94-'97 had 131hp, from then on the 1.6 only had 90hp. I'm driving my 5th MX-5 now, love it!
