Thank you for the straightforward and useful discussion. It was quite helpful.
Excellent review. You're correct about the batt indicator. Mine is charging now but nothing is illuminated to indicate if it actually is charging or if it's done. Most of my rides are longer than 2 hrs. I'll have to carry 2 lights or go to a much lower mode. It seems kind of stupid for such a short batt life for the price paid.
I often wonder how final approval is given to build something like this. If I was the product manager and I saw a great light with a terrible charging indicator and a USB stick that could be inserted incorrectly I'd give the designer one chance to save his/her job. There's simply no excuse for it.
And yes, I own it.
Got to agree really !
How on earth has this video got half dislikes and likes? this video has been trolled. Great video.
Thanks for the kind words , and I don't worry about people disliking my videos, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Thanks again 👍
@@muckley2012 You're welcome, i'm tornm in-between this bike light and the Cateye rapid X 300... I'm kinda thinking for £50 i want it to have a 18650 battery but i don't think they've been invented? 1 hour max time on max out put for £50 seems daft the more o think about it, I really need a bike light though and these 2 seems the best of rear bike lights... Any suggestions re 18650, i'd be happy to learn.. Great video mate. I loved it to be fair mate.
I believe the Lezyne has now been superseded by a version with a smart brake light , it may be worth checking the specification out on that one , it may have an updated run time.
The only solution I've found for using the better rear lights at night is to connect them to a powerbank , although when you do this you are risking any moisture entering the unit so caution is required. Note the Lezyne will not work whilst it's charging which completely rules it out for this type of use.
Cheers...just bought mine in halfords...really like it...but l agree with you about the USB port...seems a bit odd...also picked up the 1100XL Lezyne Macro Drive front light which is a terrific peice of kit..
Thanks for the vid...
Ricky
No problem thanks for watching !
Very well done and detailed review.
Thank you
Amazing!
good review but that's older version, newer one has different cover and lens, i think older one had stronger light
Hello, I’m planning on buying one, what makes you thing that the old one had a stronger light?
Simply the best 👍🏻
Now there is a new hardware version
Thanks for the review, I must agree on the battery indicator it's useless and some other pulsing modes I just do not see my self using them at all, I just purchase this lite still waiting for it but the misleading issue with the 300 lumins got me down as I thought all of them would be 300 it is very misleading.
Cess Outdoors , yeah the lumen output annoyed me a little too, as for the battery indicator well I sort of expected it as I've already got a couple of front lights from Lezyne.
However it is still a superb light , really bright and so far seems very weatherproof, used it last week in 41 mph gales and driving rain and it never skipped a beat.
My rear light lives on the seat post directly in the spray that comes off the rear wheel as I don't at the moment run mudguards , so they always take a beating.
@@muckley2012 thanks for the reply, I hear its a great light , Im waiting for one as we speak, will see.Thumbs up from Germany.
@Freerider Thanks for the info, I guess my assumptions come from front lights they all have the same power with different modes.
If I use the 300modese all the time i will ran out of battery in the middle of my runs .
It's bad isn't it? It's like paying for example $50 for this light but only been able to use say $20 worth as you can only use the 300 Lumens in day flash. I want to be able to select low medium or high Lumens for each of the 11 mode settings to get my money worth out of this light
Darren, and what about this beacon - is it possible focus with power bank ?
If you mean will it run with a power bank connected Iam afraid it will not , once a power bank is connected the light will cut out .
@@muckley2012 , thanks! Priceless information.
Hi Darren,
Thanks for the review. Really helpful.
I need to replace my Moon Nebula that decided to not charge anymore. Are you still using the Lezyne? And still happy with it?
Ricardo Gomes was supposedly to ask the same thing as I’m in the market for one that fits an aero seat post
Hi guys sorry for the late reply , yeah I still use it , its always on the bike and always switched on , it's a solid little light.
@@muckley2012 It's now 2 years! Is the Lezyne performing as you had hoped ??
@@pen762m2 yes , it's suffered a little battery degradation and I've had to replace the rubber band mount as I managed to snap it , apart from that it's doing great.
Thanks for the review. Have you tested the daylight flash modes (300 / 150 lumens) to see what the actual runtimes are? I had a NiteRider Omega 300 that was supposed to last 6.5 hrs on 300 lumen flash but wouldn't last past 2.5 hrs, so I returned it.
I do regularly use the daylight 300 mode but I must admit I've yet to actually time how long it will run for on this mode.
I'd estimate around only 2 hours though , but that could be out quite a bit.
I choosing a beacon and see such sad reviews about different bright models - regularly. It seems to me that the battery is, in some ways, a lottery. There is always a certain percentage of defective goods from any manufacturer. Omega shines insanely bright (judging by the video). I also look at it. But I'm afraid to buy)
What's the difference between this and the other version? (Strip Alert Drive Pro)
The alert version has a sensor inside that senses when the bicycle is braking and the light then changes to a brighter solid output ( like the brake lights of a car).
After the bike has stopped it then enters a unique flash pattern to alert other riders or traffic that you have stopped.
Does fit this item for rear rack, set horizontally, ??
You could possibly make it fit but I don't think it would work very well , it's designed specifically for a seat post
I got the light on the mail today I charged it for 3 hrs it flashes orange than stays solid orange never green.I think I got a defect one, everything works well just not a green light maybe I need to have on to see how long it last.
Cess Outdoors, If your talking about the charge/battery indicator it should flash orange while it's charging then go to solid orange then if you leave it connected to power it will cut the power itself and the light will go out.
Darren that's the light I was talking about, charging light flashes orange than is solid orange so is fully charged, I saw few videos people say it turns green so I was confused, as you said in the video its a waste of indicator. Thanks again, have a nice weekend.
And yourself , yeah it's just too inaccurate but otherwise it's a decent light !
Thank you Cess Outdoors !
Micro usb the latest unit.
Ah good thats an improvement for sure , can it be used whilst charging or does it still cut out ?
Mine is only 4 months old
It charges but for some reason it is stuck on 1 mode and I can’t reset it like my micro drive
Try letting it run completely flat , that may do the job .
Does this fit on a D-shaped seatpost?
I haven't tried it personally but I believe it will.
Good talking straight, talking.
Thanks for showing the charging method. Big no from me. Will stay with Cataeye.
Good video daddy, im going to this fucker! You sold me!
It's a shame they don't have the 300 Lumen mode for flash 2 or have 2 buttons, 1 button that controls Lumen output Eco, Low, Med, High and then the 1 button that controls flash sequence/setting
The 300 lumen flash mode is all I use for day running , visibility with good runtime.
@@muckley2012 what do you use for night time? All i would prefer with this light is to use the 300 Lumen with all the flash settings Flash 2 setting looks similar to new 2019/2020 cars with pulsating indicators.
I use flash one @35 lumens for most night rides , again for me it offers the best compromise of visibility and battery life.
@@muckley2012 cheers mate
Blow your bloody nose
WyF? I'm sorry but this is one of the worst reviews I've ever seen
