This was more positive than I thought it’d be lol. I really like Saber. It’s very sloppy, but I love the characters, stories, and designs. I’ll definitely miss it.
As someone who rewatched saber recently I liked it a lot more…. Rewatched cause I bought kyomu
Anyone else down to one day see marcosatsu do a drunk history of saber and history of goseiger in the same video
marcosatsu do a drunk history of saber and history of goseiger yes.
When saber was first revealed I thought I was gonna hate it but now it's in my top 3 series.
While it’s not the best series, I enjoyed Saber. This past year has been really rough for me as I have entered my Junior and now Senior year of High School along with my depression being the worst it has ever been. Saber was one of the few high points of my week, and while like I said it isn’t the best show, it brought a smile to my face when I needed cheering up and tears to my eyes when I needed a good cry; in my mind, that’s what’s important about these shows, how do they make you happy in times of darkness, how do they change your story to one that matters. I loved the core message of this story that everyone’s story is important and that they are meant to bring happiness when all is lost; it fit very well with what I went through.
I know Saber is hated by many, and loved by a few, but personally, I think it’s one of my favorites, probably third after Build and Kiva. I liked the characters, even though sometimes it felt like too many, the suits where beautiful, I liked the action, and the story, while bland at some parts, it still had moments such as the Primitive Dragon Arc and Mei Megid Arc that will go down as some of my favorites in the franchise. I’m happy with what we got. For me it’s a 8/10
I don't understand the hate for saber that much though? Like, ok, I don't quite enjoy the first 5 episodes, but the characters are just too funny and endearing with their dynamic! And hell does the this series has a good story to tell. How it told the story may have some missteps, but a good story it still told nonetheless! Hell, the Ren and Desast story arc made me emotional and cared for a character I hate!
It would've fit Touma's catchphrase much better if he did get stuck in wonder world, and he did the narration at the end
The problem with Saber and the whole friendship thing is the multiple times that Saber did a back and forth.
Make friends.
Drama. No longer friends.
Friends make up.
More Drama. No longer friends.
Friends re-make up.
And this doesn't just happen with a few characters. It happens with nearly every character. It was a plot point that happens multiple times, and some of them were just arbitrary. From a writer's perspective, to just rehash the same root of the problem multiple times. For a show as short as a single season of Kamen Rider, you get to use a plot point once, a trope once. Any more than once, and it becomes lazy, as if you didn't have any real idea as a writer.
Takuro Fukuda should not be a lead writer.
finally the finale to the thomasjujube vs marcos saber debate. pretty cool to see that you both came out enjoying the show in different ways
Once I got passed the early parts of the first arc of the show, I ended up enjoying saber a fair bit. I'd say this is an above average season of kamen rider
Saber is Reiwa's Ghost. That's where I stand on it.
Finishing this up, I just realized, that Fourze is just a superior Saber story.
This is like the reverse of Ryuki and Gaim.
If you want a Kamen Rider story about loss and friendship, then Fourze is just better in every way.
Also, my sentiments are with Marcos. Saber was just a disappointment through and through. It was not like Zero-One where it frustrates you with the direction it took. Reiwa so far has not been a great start, and blaming it on the pandemic seems like a poor excuse. Competent story writing is still very much possible with the current state of the world.
Finally thanks bro
Damn I really enjoyed saber overall and it was my first kamen rider show too it was a 9/10 for me. A Tier list there!
Overall, this was outcome unexpected. Here you have everyone saying it was good but VERY flawed and that they enjoyed it.... then there's Marco's in the corner.
I'm ready for Revice now!!!
I MEAN... The ending isn't no Ryuki. I'm okay with this " Happy Ending Book" or save that true happy ending for the Saber movie. That would have worked out too!
Also as a Wizard fan... YEA... Fucking writers and director ruin my final hope with Wizard. THE POTENTIAL and they just didn't care! WHY?! Wizard had it there but no.
Saber is flawed definitely, but i still like it, it's an 8/10 for me
It would've been an 8/10 for me if not for them nerfing Yuri character wise. Deast's death was emotional and well executed but his backstory and arc should've been further expanded. For me, it's a 7/10
@@benjaminwu100 Yeah, despite the flaws Saber had, I still enjoyed it. I'm gonna watch the special episode first before I do a final analysis.
@@spencermanning9994 I enjoyed it too (after the first arc). True, I am excited about what Revice has in store for us.
The pacing of the show works better on a binge than a week to week viewing.
The only reason why ever came back at the end of the finally was so they could all meet Kamen rider revice
2:26 - 2:47 is were i'm laughing for a Macos vs Thomasjujubee talk discussion!!!!
Can we take a moment to realize that the big point for the return of Calibur was to seal the swords, only to have the ritual happen anyways BECAUSE plot. Has anyone ever pointed out that IF all the other swords got sealed, that the Sword of Darkness itself would have still been unsealed and that the ritual would have... AGAIN... Happened anyway. There was no point in giving the Sword of Darkness an ability to seal the swords if it wasn't going to matter in the end.
In a way it's really poetic that a story about stories kind of sucks in its formal aspects, like pacing and plot, but Saber did so well in conveying what mattered and reminding me why I love stories so much. I truly cannot imagine how some people get by without them.
Saber is a winner.
The show is HELLA flawed, but the rider suit And overall design (voice book, ect) are EXCELLENT. The fight are really enjoyable and the ost is super good. But yeah the way they write their episodes is awful and they WASTE SO MUCH POTENTIAL concerning the Riders power and most and foremost: The Wonderworld. They never did bother getting Toma investigate in the Wonderworld. Kiva still goated
I 100% agree when it comes to the suit designs (Dragonic Knight and Primitive Dragon are my favorites).
Personally, I really liked Saber, but I won't deny that it had *some* flaws (*cough* Avalon *cough*)
Hey I’m in this one
Ayyy thomasjujube was on!!!
Touma/Brave Dragon: Brave and Passionate
Rintaro/Lion Senki: Cool and wild
Kento/Algina and Kurayami: Light and Dark
Ren/Sarutobi Ninjaden: Free spirited and stubborn
Ryo/Genbu: Tough and a father
Daishinji: Calm and A Rocker
Reika: Graceful and Decietful
Ryoga: Wet napkin and choppy.
Yuri: Light and airy.
Solomon/Storious: Power Hungry God Complex
i liked saber but then again i also really liked ghost so really my opinion isn't the most dependable one, genbu is my fav btw
Was i the only person that saw the suit and was like "oh look, it's heat joker... wait..."
Where do people watch kamen rider episodes any recommendations?
Ren is just the Reiwa Era Mutsuki.
Saber is the first Rider show that I've watched week to week. Granted, I started watching Rider in December, but still. It was a very f i n e show to me, I knew the problems, and I know that they were trying to work around those problems.
The difference is that Mutsuki had growth, focus episodes, moments, and was overall a good character.
Ren existed... i guess.
@@SirSadness Ren did unfortunately only have a couple focus episodes at the end. I only made the connection with me watching Saber first and then Blade.
Thing is, I wasn't a fan of both at first.
Now I generally like both.
@@TransforceMLP Blade started slow, but consistent, then became engaging and consistent.
Saber started quick and consistent, then became a mess. I honestly can't remember half of the season.
See, I had that problem with Blade more. Which is sad since the characters in general weregood. It's just....it dragged on for me is all.
I loved this season! Books and swords are two cool things for the price of one wickedocious show!
Culture difference is strong with this one, my friends over at japan and china hate the frist half and love the second half
From what I gathered from this video and internet, looks like the series is at least better than Ghost. Might as well give it a try.
As a viewer of both series I can assure u it is better then ghost and can't really say more then that.
Ayyo I’m in this discussion
Instead of talking about Saber, I want see History of Gaim complete video.
Saber had it's ups and downs. Storyline was kinda eh, but I really loved what the gimmick was mainly focused on, being books. Let's hope that saber's successor, Revice, can 1-up this series and make Reiwa a household name.
Still better than Wizard. While not my favorite, I still had fun.
Honestly Saber is quickly becoming my favorite reiwa rider series. The first few episodes were rough, but that's basically it. There wasn't really a part where I was like "yeah fuck this shit" and when I consider they were doing that amidst the covid shit, it's even more impressive. They even made me like tassel, and I started the series asking the toku thread "Hey, how often am I going to start the episode locked in this pedo's rape dungeon?"
Rintaro's arc isn't too bad it's just kinda awkward and it did seem like they forgot him sometimes. Also Kento gets yeeted and Mei should have become Espada and I stand on that.
Yeah, I have to agree. I feel like the reveal that Zooous killed Rintaro's Master happened a WEEEE bit too early in the series.
I can't really imagine Mei as Espada, but it definitely would have been cool if she became a Rider.
This is more positive than Japanime or Dosm Rider have to say.
Well Marco i hope you at least enjoyed saber now
I was sad saber went out sloppy. I love the characters, suits, and ideas. However the writing SUUUUUUUUCKS!!!
I didn't think Saber was that bad, but yeah, the writing could've been a WEE bit better.
Saber was a good series, even though there was an issue with COVID
Even though there was COVID issue, the production didn't care about Saber at all.
Whoever said side character of ghost are good they are so forgettable. If anything what Saber did correctly is that the riders are distinct and a bit more of personality. And they dont make another Adel like villain because he is boring as fuck. And the villains are treated as threat.
6, 7 atmost/10. The plot and character arcs are too rush and the amount of missed potentials (that the writers aware themselves but couldn’t execute well) are f*cking abysmal
wow im glade im not the only one who really liked this series it was WAY better the zero one
it started meh but after episode 12 or 11 it kept getting better from there on
Even though Zero-One had flaws it's way better than Saber. Saber outright shouted itself as "I am bad, I like bad and you should feel bad too".
@@sakifahmed2196 i do agree that the last 15 episode of saber are way better then any of of saber but aside from that i thought it was pretty meh saber was also meh but was moe injoyable imo
This will probably be the last time Takuro Fukuda "writes" a tokusatsu series, now that Toei knows he has an incest fetish as shown in episode 34 of Ghost and most of the interactions between Reika and Ryoga Shindai. I put "writes" in quotes because factually speaking, Takuro wrote only a little over 1/4 of Saber's episodes while Keiichi Hasegawa did all the heavy lifting; to the point that Hasegawa the one who wrote Saber's finale.
But take my assumption about Takuro's future with a grain of salt, since I openly hate Takuro Fukuda for his shitty work ethic when it comes to how little he was involved with the production of Ghost and Saber.
That's understandable. I didn't think Saber was a bad show and I actually enjoyed watching it, but it DEFINITELY could've been better in terms of pacing and some of its story elements (*cough!* Avalon *cough!*).
Though, to be fair, not all of the episodes that Fukuda wrote for Saber were bad (or "meh", to say the least). Episodes 25, 26, and 43 were actually very good, in my opinion (R.I.P. Desast. Kinda wish you got a bit more screen time)
I don't really think that Fukuda is a bad writer when it comes to Kamen Rider or any other thing he's worked on (the only other show besides Kamen Rider Ghost and Saber that I know he worked on was Ultraman Max). I think it mostly has to do with executive meddling and having multiple writers with possibly different ideas working on the same show at different points. But hey, that's just what I think.
@@spencermanning9994 You are entitled to your own opinion, and I will admit that there were some parts of Saber that I did enjoy, but Takuro should've known better than to appoint a 4th writer (Hiroki Uchida) when Saber apparently wasn't being well received by its native audience. Either Takuro has never heard the phrase "Too many cooks spoil the broth", or he has heard it; and his response was "Fuck you, I do what I want".
I can only say this: At least Saber is better than Ghost. Overall, it's a meh series. Enjoyable but not a season I would rewatch anytime soon. With gimmicks that I like in the show but not irl. Got a couple of Wonder Ride Books and I did not enjoy handling them.
Story wise, I feel like it started to pick up around the halfway point during Primitive Dragon's debut and Kento's return. The characters are just okay with some shining moments, minus that one meme worthy bad VFX moment. I'm just not a fan on how they reused the base form as an extra final form again. At least Xross Saber got a beautiful paint job and a toy that I kinda want.
Based Saber Enjoyers
So much blind hate for this series
How is it blind hate?? Everyone has a reason to hate this series. My reason is Ren. Fuck ren.
It’s not blind hate, the story almost turned into another Ghost. Thankfully it didn’t but that doesn’t make it any better. There were a lot of things that were wrong with the show, everything from the first few episodes bombarding us with toys to power gaps between each rider (same issue as Ryuki) to useless character traits (Mei always being loud and/or emotional) to Solomon/Storious’ suit designs.
A decent amount of them is definitely not blind hate, but another decent amount of them is still blind hate
@@emmahas2moms8038 Tbh Mei was like the best character in that show along with Yuri, they both carried the saber show and the reason why it's talked about now.
I am not saying Touma should have come back from wonderworld. But! the entire show was about fighting fate and Touma's fate was to be the guardian of wonderworld so that would have ruined the entire arc for me. I mean if they had shifted accepting fate then that's fine but not as the show had played out. I think that he should have split the final power with Rintarou and Kento so that through his friends he avoided his fate of taking the power for himself.
The books could have done without the quick summaries. Say the title, insert in the driver, then Henshin!
Remember when touma had very plot convenient chosen one powers for like 4 episodes and it was never seen again
Remember when power scailing wasn't the worse it's ever been in rider. Crimson/Emotional Dragon can beat Falchion but not Tategami and Elemental? Now if yall are gonna say Emotional was stronger than elemental....THEN WHY TF DIDN'T HE USE IT ON FALCHION IN HIS FINAL BATTLE. Also lords of wise beat xross saber, then randos beat the lords of wise
Remember when touma was an author, and it was only mentioned in for like 6 episodes and the finale
Remember when their bikes were a thing, and they were never seen again and characters can just conveniently know exactly where to go all the time and can literally transport to their desired location in 2 seconds
Touma: i'm gonna go find ren *finds him in 2 seconds*
"Let's go to solomon" *jump cuts to them knowing exacly where solomin is for some reason*
Remember when Omniforce could absorb other books, and it was never mentioned again
Remember when Tategami could summon souls of past riders, and it was never seen again
Remember Yuri's back story and it was was never heared from again(the back story was flavor text at best)
Remember when falchion was imortal, before he just wasn't
Remember when Elemental Dragon had elememtal power for the 1st 2-3 episodes and it was never seen again
Remember when Buster, Slash and Durandal weren't waste of space characters... cuz i certainly don't. And the other important characters, eventually joined them in as waste of space characters
Remember how useful that Azu ripoff was
Remember when king lion daisenki, most of the important megid and sophia getting kidnapped were all forgotten about when the 2nd arc happened, i don't blame them with sophia tho, she was pretty forgettable
Remember Sabera's character before her brother showed up
Remember Storius' character before he became the main antagonist, i get that the point is that he's showing his true colours now that he has no allies, but there isn't a single hint of his old personality left, especially since he's supposed to have gone insane of an existencial crisis but can somehow act like the compete opposite
Remember when mastering the seiken only applied to 2 characters for some reason and was never seen again anyway
Man it sure is lucky buster is the only one with a family cuz that's literally his only character trait
Remember hints of the 1st Calibur still being alive, and they were never seen again. Too bad he didn't appear earlier when he was literally needed most cuz someone was disguising themselves as him and Kento was like WTF MY DAD for the whole show
Remember xross saber's wonder combos... and they were never seen again after 3 episodes
Remember when xross saber could delete damage, and it was never seen again
Remember when xross saber could summon shooting wolf(ep 43), and it was never seen again
Remember Logos's character, literally went from i hate balance, to i love balance as a force ghost(this is probably intentional that he change off screen, but still wtf why)
Remember how Solomon wants omniforce to absorb the other books and swords... but let sabera and durandal keep their books and swords despite still being on his side, he's not even targeting falchion and kenzan, who are the easiest to target
Remember when Espada untransformed when he lost lamp do alangina during featuring saber,(also blades untransformed just cuz lion senki isn't in his pocket) but kept up the form for an eternity during the lord of wise fight.
@Ryouhei // Stand In Space that falchion "point" is never explained or mentioned anywhere, not even on outside material, so that's nothing but head cannon. and that's still a moot anyway point since one episode elemental is stronger than emotional, and another, he doesn't even use emotional cuz it doesn't stand a chance, and implies Tategami is weaker than emotional
And for that backstory point, yeah, it's fucking called *flavour text*
And i actually rewatched elemental's fights and i can infact cornfirm that saber's elemental powers(exept fire) were never seen after the durandal fight
Hate it at the start. Didnt mind it at the end. 5/10
They should have not made them swordsman immediately and do hand to hand and in the last 10 or so episodes where they earn their swords.
I don't get this criticism of Zero-One's finale. It wasn't COMPLETELY a happy ending. Remember, while yes, Izu was remade, it wasn't OUR Izu. She was essentially rebooted, and Aruto would have to work his way to restoring her back to the way she was. It wasn't until Real x Time where she was truly back.
It was hated because aruto build an another izu which demise the message of zero one entierly, they just take that from baymax
@@denysvision How does it demise(?) the message? The message of Zero-One is ending the cycle of hatred. That has nothing to do with what occurred.
Ghost had more managable characters. I'd take Takeru over Touma but I still like Touma. Mei: best rider girl hands down.
i thought saber was ok, hated durandal though
saber is a black sheep and that’s all i have to say about it

marcos SABER STINKY
end of discussion
Saber made me drop toku for a while.
My brain doesn't have the correct neuron connections to understand how people liked it.
I gave it a chance, i got nothing out of it.
At one point I actually try to defend Saber when Marcosatsu didn’t like it at one of his video but mainly because at the time,Saber was actually being watchable and decent that actually got me admittedly excited . Then they kinda drop the ball and went down just being meh. But hey ,the final battle is kinda cool even if I’m not into the second Realizing hopper like battle
I apologize to Marcosatsu that I defended a season that’s mediocre at best XD
If this needs a US makeover, it will be a mix of Mystic Force and The PageMaster
Kamen rider saber 6/10
I didn’t like this show at all, and a lot of points I’ve thought to myself have been expressed by some of you, so thanks!
So what I’m gathering…. Don’t trust the man who did ghost with a rider again
Saber was definitely a slow burn.
I binged watched this show, honestly the only character that I cared for was rintaro... deahsead was a waste of potential for being a badass bad guy 😣😣😣😣
The best thing I can say about saber is that it's Mid. I can give Zero One a pass because of Covid but this is just uh yeah I can't give it more that 6/10
I hated this show. I am glad its over. REVICE HERE WE COME!!!!
GEE, I'm surprised how everyone is so positive on this show..... I'm with Marco on this one, Saber is just terrible.
Saber to me... wasn't very good
There's only one way to summarise saber, it is the worst shit in kamen rider series and it made other shit seasons look like masterpiece.
Questions is that other shit series Ghost? Cuz that was bad, at the very least I wouldn't say Saber is better then that
Questions is that other shit series Ghost? Cuz that was bad, at the very least I wouldn't say Saber is better then that
@@jimimonsta3209 Yes Ghost is also shit, and you're right. That's why I said it made other shits look like masterpiece.
Saber is utter garbage. 3/10
.
The only good things to me were the suits, choreography, and the references for wonderbook(this last one was the most interesting reason I kept up w/ the show, other than wanting to bottle up all this disappointment until the end)
.
I dislike the OP, the character’s inconsistencies, the lack of consequences, and how it’s devoid of logic.
.
Hopefully it keeps the position as the worst of Reiwa’s rider, and that no other following season dethrones it.
Everyone else having a fairly positive discussion about Saber while Marco sits in the corner like the kid at the birthday party who hates everyone else and is waiting for his mom to pick him up
