    BLOG POST & TEMPLATE: matthiasfrank.de/project-mana...
    Notion is a great tool to manage your projects. However, out of the box, it's missing certain features that dedicated project management tools bring with them. Most notably charts and detailed workload breakdowns.
    In this video, you'll learn how to build these features yourself with the help of Rows. Rows is a modern spreadsheet tool that integrates natively with Notion, which means it's super easy to add Pivot Tables and Charts to your Notion Workspace. Just sync your Notion Data over, create whatever analytics you need and re-embed them in Notion.
    First, we will create a workload breakdown for our employees. This will allow us to see at a glance who has how many tasks on their plate. Next, you'll learn how to create a simple Project Progress Chart. Last but not least, we tackle the most complex chart in Notion: burn-down or burn-up charts.

    I am still learning a bit about date formulas but I have no idea about the series of date formulas you use 😂. I hope there is a video explanation related to the formulas or at least a deep explanation of the formulas above

    When I see that someone has mastered something so much, I am always interested in knowing what their learning path or system was. reference courses? training practices? readings? I would love a video where you tell us your journey from the first time you opened Notion, what was your previous experience? any programming language? or maybe something else seemingly offline. This story would be of great help to those of us who are not only interested in Notion, but also interested in learning how to learn as high-level experts learn.

      The short answer: lots of play 😅
      The tool just got my attention and I thoroughly enjoyed playing around with it. Spend enough time with anything and a bit of directional drive and you’re bound to get good at it 😅

    Great video, been looking for this kind of integration forever! Question though: how often does Rows update the data from the Notion page? With a burnup chart, it'd be useful to have it updated several times a day. Now, while building it, for me the issue is that whenever I add a new property in the Notion database, it takes an undefined amount of time to pull that into Rows. I currently just go to bed and hope it's there tomorrow :P Is there any way to force the sync? How often does sync happen automatically?

    • @mfreihaendig
      @mfreihaendig  Pƙed 3 měsĂci

      Did you turn on the sync?
      On rows free plan, you get a scheduled data refresh once a day. You can always trigger it manually in rows - or upgrade to the paid plan, then you have far more frequent options, down to every minute I believe

    Hi,
    great work, thank you!
    Is it possible this all works not with Relations and Rollups?

    • @mfreihaendig
      @mfreihaendig  Pƙed 4 měsĂci +1

      Unfortunately not unless you want to do the calculations externally in the spreadsheet
      Notion is a database, not a spreadsheet, so you can’t do calculations easily. Using relations, rollups and a separate database is a trick to replicate these features.
      Alternatively, you can outsource all that to the spreadsheet in rows

      Another way is to start typing ":" followed by the emoji name you want.
      For example :heart = ❀
      The benefit of the first way (edit: Matthias's way) is that it's not specific to Notion so you can use it in most places.
      It's personal preference, but if both shortcuts do the same thing and one is limited to a single app, its probably best to get the hang of the universal option first so you aren't held up in other places.
