For those inquiring... Aldi carts require a Quarter to use them. Most customers just exchange with one another after use, saving the time and tinkering to deposit/retrieve the quarter from the cart lock each time. (Me I just pass my cart along to the next person without asking for a Quarter in exchange. Just pass the kindness to the next person. ☺️) With the Quarter system this reduces accidents in the parking lot and saves time/money having employees retrieve carts from All Over the parking lot and subsequent neighborhoods around the grocery store. At ALDI they require customers to pay a quarter to use the shopping cart, and when you return the cart it gives you the quarter back. I’ve heard even if you don’t have a quarter stores will let you borrow a quarter for a cart
