    That blade was really the tip of an iceberg 😂
    PEANUT BUTTER 💪🏼🥜
    Sir, that blade at the end probably needs registration for something that size. Only a matter of time before you find a whole one (sounds cliche but its true) Those banks were awfully artifacty looking though you previously have said they dont produce much. Awsome vid man.

    • @meandmyshadow6269
      @meandmyshadow6269  Před měsícem +2

      Hahaha, it really was the blade that kept on giving, wasn't it! That's probably a first for me that it was big enough that I had accidentally set the tripod partially over the top. Hey, I won't complain about that! Yeah, that spot sometimes will skunk me but when it does produce, it's usually something good. Dude, people really love your "peanut butter" term for that stuff. If we keep saying it, soon everybody might be using your terminology, lol! Let's make it viral.

      Thanks for the info! I always called it jasper until now! Glad to know that it's Barron Fork. So many different lithics, it's hard to keep it straight! I do love the color of the Barron Fork when you break it open though. It's so creamy looking. Thanks much for watching Leland. P.s. 1. the bird didn't try and kill me on my jog yesterday and 2. Thank you, Michael! Just so happens, I did some knapping last weekend. I'm pretty unskilled though. Right now, I'm kind of still just in the very beginning stages. When I knapp I'm usually just practicing and removing flakes and reducing material and then sometimes I try and make a point off of a flake. I will put together a video soon or at least post some pics of my attempts. How's your knapping career going? Can you make a full bi-face point? I can't yet. @meandmyshadow6269 Taylor,co. FL,has always been the pine tree capital of the south....we have a Florida forest festival every year.
      Our papper and lumbar mill have closed recently so I guess other mills are buying the trees.....
      Pine trees for pulp to lumber are harvested every 18 to 25 years...
      Skidders will go in with a cutter head attachment and cut the pines when another Skidder will drag a trailor load to the landing where it is loaded on the semiby another specialized machine.
      Then off to a mill.......Later,Skidders will go into the harvested area with Rake head attachment and rake up huge degree piles left over,next huge skidders with huge plows that will gather the dirt and concentrate it into a bed of dirt about,12 feet apart and then later after settling another machine will plant the pine tree in the bed....The beds sole purpose is to keep the tree out of the water.
      The deeper the plow goes the better..... come in after a rain and walk...methodically....back and forth.
      You can go back to the same area years after you looked and still find stuff...especially if it was treated with herbicide during planting. Pine 🌲 🏹

      Daniel, thank you for the concern! I actually used to have a little pouch that came mounted to the kayak but the snaps broke free after a while. Thanks for mentioning, it gives me some motivation to do it. I'd be so heartbroken if I tipped and lost my finds and cameras. Thanks for the info on the blade too, btw! @@meandmyshadow6269 well on a lot of eastern projectiles mounted in river cane the stack acts as a natural barrier up agianst the knuckle or joint in the bamboo like cane say for instance many points found by the heartbreakers look extremely thick and stemmed and most have a stack right above the stem that when mounted in cane prevent the point from moving backwards as it buts right up agianst the knuckle .now in blades anything hand held that has a well positioned stack gives you a much better grip less chance of it slipping in your hand .as for hafted blades imagine the groove in a hardstone axe just to keep it in place I've noticed many blades usually not the super finely worked blades but totally usable ones have this feature you cant put a groove in flint so you do the next best thing which is usually a couple of good thinning flakes sometimes overshot next to the stack and you have the security no rocking blade.now sir I'm not highly educated and I'm flattered that you might ask my opinion .everything I am proposing comes from my personal collecting here in Colorado about 40yrs or so and I have a habit of using found tools gently but if in question I try too see how it fits your hand you can tell whether the tool user was left or right handed and almost immediately you can find the best hold and use I usually use tanned rabbit or deer hide and a soft block of wood under and have never damaged a tool trying them .for instance we all like those nice uniflake scrapers but nobody really asks why the bottom is left flat and smooth well you scrape a fresh hide and theres all kinds of fat and goo but guess what due to the scraper design one swipe with your thumb or on another piece of hide and it wipes right off smooth as silk very smart design. anyways yeah that river hunting makes me a tad jealous the high plains here in Colorado much harder to hunt only rain and wind to expose stuff but I will continue to enjoy your hunts thanks

    Love the way you shoot and narrate. That big base a spear or a knife?

      I really appreciate you saying so, my friend. To be honest, I'm usually just winging it and I always worry that I may be rambling too much or that my camera work sucks. I have a hard time seeing the screen when it's so sunny outside. For that broken blade, I think it depends on who you ask. I think a safe bet is that it could have been either... or BOTH. I believe the big long, edged points would perform well as both and I often wonder if the indians did in fact use them for multiple tasks. But that's just my opinion - I'm still sub-novice at a lot of this stuff, haha
