    This is without doubt one of the best performances I have heard of the Chaconne.

    I like the thick drama and depth of John Feeley's. I like the joy and serenity that is emanated from this performance. His guitar is singing. It sings life is good. Never heard such a singing version of this Chacconne.

    The musicality of this performance is hard for me to imagine improving on. The control is superb. There may be different ways to approach this, but none better than this one.

    It is clear (at least to me) they both (George and John) listened to Segovia. He didn't play legato and used lots of arpegios (also you would'nt think the piece is actuallly played in tripple time) but who cares? This is a very warm sound, very warm and, as John's interpretation, very, very enjoyabel!

    I watched the entire video waiting for a flaw, I have to admit, this guy is top class. Absolutely perfect interpretation, williams/russell level.

Superbo. E tutto sotto i nostri occhi, in presa diretta!

Me vas a ayudar mucho. Muchísimas gracias.

    I wonder if Gulyas thinks he has more to learn about the guitar. Probably so. But it certainly seems that his mastery is complete. Musically, the drama of this performance--not to mention his technical prowess--make this the most powerful rendition of the Chaconne on guitar that I've heard.

  • @peplicus
    @peplicus Před 12 lety

    Superb rendition: I can tell that, from the first bar, you have the rest of the piece in your mind and fingers. Similar to Barrueco's organic, albeit transcribed version and different (very much so) from the Romero flamenco version. I really enjoyed it.

    Not that fast really, only a little bit faster than how Jascha Heifetz used to play this piece. Interesting background story though, I haven't heard it before.

  • @palfo32
    @palfo32 Před 11 lety

    this interpretation is so close to how I hear the piece. close to bream in the right parts but still more appreciating to the the time it was written in. I was a little underwhelmed by the finale though, felt a bit too rushed.

  • @MrJohnnywonny

    Is there a more complete statement in music than this? The Chaccone runs the gamut of all there is in the human drama.

  • @toolittlecage
    @toolittlecage Před 12 lety +3

    i do respekt your work , but slow it down, this is orginally a dance and listen, bach is whritten that wonderfull piece when he came from a tour and saw that his whife was died one week ago. He screams shouts and was cry. Did you understand? the feeling is tragic for a long time to accept that process. watch andres segovias videos about his masterclass, he is also a genius as a teacher next to his magic^. Greetings from Germany toolittlecage
