      Hi i am thinking to buy a 2012 Nissan micra visia tomorrow. Its from a local dealership. Its done 68000. There is warranty for 12 months on engine and gearbox only. Is there anything i should be made aware of because i have had bad experience with cars in the past even with Toyota's. Some valuable advice would be gratefully appreciated thanks.

    • @LeadFootash23
      @LeadFootash23  Před 5 lety +2

      @@jakcarn4184 if the engine and gearbox are covered for 12 months then the main thing to look out for would be the rust spots i mention in the video.
      It's rust that kills these things off so as long as its clean and the engine is running well then there isn't really anything else that will be terminal.

    I just bought 2nd facelift K11 1.0 engine with 79000km on the clock, manual windows, no sun roof. Zero rust like freaking new. 1000 euros. I had micra back in the day like 10 years ago, I noticed the newer one has coil packs and the horsepower rating is a bit higher as well and of course much nicer looks but basically its the same but newer. Rock solid engine on these, easily over 300 000km with regular maintenance. :))

    Good concise video matey. Absolutely love k11s, so so so bulletproof and good to work on. I got one for £200 back in 2017 as a second car... Car beat up but full history and low miles. Used it til the MOT expired then it sat for 6 months on my driveway while I decided what to do with it. Decided to give it away to a friend, so took it for an MOT and unbelievably it went straight through. Bought up all the service parts and gave an afternoon of learning a thing or two under the hood. Amazing little car, takes everything thrown at it! I learned to drive in one years ago. I'm keeping an eye out for an original non-facelift for a couple of hundred quid now for the sake of having another one.
    One thing I do need to do is rust treat that front part behind the bumper as it's super rusty on ours. Cheers for reminding me!
    Happy new year matey!

      @LeadFootash23  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks for the positive feedback mate.
      I bought one that's been sat for a year and all it needed for it's MOT was a set of wiper blades.
      If you can get one that isn't rotten they're a bulletproof little runaround.
      Good luck with your hunt for a pre facelift, they're getting harder to find these days.

    Rear suspension spring mounts go rotten. Right pain as rear axle needs dropping and the rot can go up through the turrets. Everything else on mine was ok at MOT bar this big weld and fab job. Please look out for this on these old sweet cars as it will probably be the death of many of them and there is no "cheap fix". Good vid and thanks.

I can write more, but it's really better first to see it, as I got in some manic phase since yesterday, when an old neighbor proposed to sell it to me. ( This account is my son's).

    i had a nissan micra, it was rusted through and through, had it for 9 years. was rusted since the start but not as bad as it was eventually. shame, it was a good car. always started, always brought me where i needed to be, always reliable. over the years i hav spent perhaps 500 or 600 euros on it in NINE YEARS. im thinking about getting another one. big cars are nice, but they drink more fuel, im thinking im just gonna get another micra fromthe same era and save more money over the next few years.

    It's a 1.4L automatic.

There will be 3 of us and loads of luggage (10,000 mile trip). Is there much difference in power between the 1 litre and the 1.2? Should we hold off and look for a 1.2?

      It really just depends how bad it is, it's difficult to say without seeing it. You'll struggle to find one now that doesn't have any rust but it's really down to how solid it still feels. If it just seems like surface rust you may be able to save it by sanding it down and putting some underseal over it.

    Are these reliable cars? Is it better to buy later models 2007+? I heard there is a electric factory fault for later models thanks

      They're incredibly reliable cars. The shape you are talking about is a k12 which is the next generation, they were heavily developed with Renault so they have a lot of issues with the electrics and weren't as reliable.
      The k11 may be a slightly older car but if you can find one that has been well looked after it will be a lot more reliable than a K12.

      I wasn't, i was just filming on my phone and was just in my hand which is why it looks wobbly. It wasn't attached to the screen.

      @@LeadFootash23 there is definitely image stabilisation, its tracking your face because it is taking up a lot of screen space. Probably built into the phone.

      @@ROGUESPIRIT_ fair enough. I don't normally film on my phone to be honest. I did have the stabilisation turned off but there's a good chance the face tracking was still turned on. I don't use it very often and only had the phone a few weeks at this point so wasn't totally familiar with all the features.
