- I always like a challenge and these two vintage G.I.Joe figures are certainly that. Tomax & Xamot have been well loved and well played with and have pretty much no paint left of them. The underlying figures don't look to bad with no breaks on major issues. So lets see if we can restore these Cobra agents back to there former glory.

I'm glad to see Cobra Convergence still going
Man, watching those disparate pieces come back together to become figures again was SATISFYING. Brilliant restoration, Dave.
Thanks 👍
I know! I recently had a figure break a T-hook, a problem I hadn't encountered before. So I Very carefully took the legs apart and waited while some new hooks were in the post. The whole time the figure lay in parts, but after I slowly put him back together he became whole again I felt a good sense of accomplishment. He's now back in his proper place on the shelf, standing tall.
A great result and now these guys are looking really sharp!
Also appreciate the on-screen injury (with slo-mo replay) to bring an element of jeopardy into the process! Thanks for the video Dave!
👍🐵
Excellemt job on these bad boys Dave!
Dave, if you’re pleased with how you fixed Tomax and Xamot, we are even happier to see another great restoration video from you especially when it comes to Gi.Joes. Man, you make it look so easy and effortlessly. Now I know what to use for my vintage motu Roboto’s legs. It needs some care and restoration. Thank you ToyPolloi!!
Thanks again!
Toy Polloi at his best!
Thanks Ken. Looking forward to your video later.
Those look AMAZING! These paint touchups are some of my favorite content. It's like watching those lawn transformations, lol. The stickers looked REALLY nice, too. They made an immediately noticeable difference on figures that already looked GREAT.
I remember being really impressed with your skyhook in that video too. It does look MUCH better than the original. Great job! Thanks for sharing!!
I am always amazed at what paint, repairs and patience can achieve. Those really came out great!
Thank you! Cheers! These ended up looking great.
On the leg, arm post I also use glue like the head post, and it works great and use water transfer decals then hit it with a clear coat. Looks original
Absolutely phenomenal job. You are definitely quite the mixologist. The way you match those colors is nothing short of amazing. You never cease to amaze me.
Thanks
@toypolloi no problem. I love that you give these toys a second chance. Glad to help
Fantastic restoration job, Dave. Looks great!
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic work Dave!! Happy cobra convergence!
Thanks! You too!
What about the scar on Xamot on his cheek?
Yeah, that's a glaring omission, & also my only (very minor) gripe with this
Dave did a phenomenal job as always!
@@seanmcgrath3826 This is the alternate universe version. Only fans of the show Fringe will get this reference.
Great work! They look awesome! Yo Joe and Cooobrrraaaaa!
Thanks a bunch!
Amazing work my friend excellent project for CC8 Cobra!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
A couple years ago my dad dug a new garden and found my tomax & xamot buried in the backyard for almost 40 years. They were a little more beat up then the ones you got there.
Phenomenal job!!!
Appreciate the tips for loose joints👍🏼
Happy to help!
My knees are really stiff and painful. Have I got too much PTFE tape on them?
That or super glue 🤣
Really goes to show you that a figure is never too far gone to fix.
Hey Dave
I did not know I was missing Actionman, until tonight. 😎
As always, Thank you and please take care😊
Those are probably the best eyes and eyebrows that you've done, Dave! I think you're finally getting the confidence you need to do such details. Confidence is truly the key to that sort of thing. It's easy to let dread of making a mistake psych you out, but you nailed the details on both figures! Good job!
Epic Restoration, Dave! Good to see you are willing to bleed for the cause!!😳🤣👍
Oh yes
Somewhere in this mess of a house, I still have all my original Joes and Cobras. Somewhere. Mine were never in such shabby shape, although I'd hate to get a look at them since they've been stored in a box for at least the last 20 years.
I have both tomax and xamot
Super impressed 😮
Haha, I literally exclaimed "I had these guys!" As I clicked on the video.
Really great restoration there. 👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job Dave!
When you say they are in a sorry state just think of how much fun their owner had with them!
Oh totally. They have seen plenty of action which is great.
Yojoe! Very well done.
What about Xamot’s face scar?
Haha I checked the comments first because I'm not done with the video yet
Was totally thinking the same thing!!! Great catch :)
Great restoration. Cobra Convergence just isn't the same without Hooded CoCo and Form B. :(
How you color match is astounding. How did you figure to mix the violet in with the brown? I would've never thought about that.
Thanks. You just have to look at what colour you need to get to. After a while you get a feel for what will work.
I'd use Pledge floor wax on the loose joints. It's what I use on my Buck Rogers loose joints. They can stand up and you can move their joints.
Awesome restoration! Your work is incredible!
Thank you very much!
I like the new track
Great video. I’d recommend applying the clear coat over the cobra symbols to further add protection and stability to it. Ferrari does it on the stripe on their f430 model. That stripe down the center is a sticker with clear coat applied
Thanks for the info
Can you do a few custom figures on your channel, custom paint jobs and mashing different parts together. I’d like to see you do something like this. 🤩
🙂
On that sticker, would it have been a good idea to put it on & then spray the clear coat?
Good job as always. The main thing about GI Joe (and other figures from this time period) weren’t really painted that well to begin with, especially small touches like eyes and eyebrows.
No LEGO was harmed in this video only Dave’s left index finger! Oh no hope that doesn’t get infected with Venom! 😂 3:22
Cant tell you how many times I too have stabbed myself in the finger with a screwdriver taking those figures apart. LOL
It's a risk of the process with all toys. Ouch
@@toypolloi I have sliced the top of my knuckles off with Xacto scalpels while customizing figures. Ouch indeed! 😆
These figures turned out extremely well. When it comes to the logos, Have you ever considered using waterslide logos, then sealing them in with the clear coat? I've seen some guys do that with hot wheels and I'm curious if that would work on figures.
I've used waterslide decals on some projects. The problem is how do you print them. I don't know of a home printer that can print white or silver? Like the logos on these guys.
Xamot is missing his scar, right cheek.
Nice Paint job, Dave!......
Thanks. This one was pretty tricky.
@toypolloi I tried to restore a Storm Shaddow figure that was brown, took him apart like you did put him into some break fluid overnight, and gave him a hot water bath then somehow when I tried putting him back together he started to Crack on me just fell apart I thought it was because of the old plastic from sitting all them years can you tell me what happened..
@LeonardLee8979 Was the figure painted brown? Or yellow with age? Overnight is too long to be left in break fluid. An hour at most.
@@toypolloi Yellow with age..
Then break fluid is not going to do anything. That is used for removing paint.
Have you tried to mask figure and spray paint cobra logo with tamplate insted of using stickers? Or maybe try to use tampon print?
Ouch! That screwdriver stick looks painful
It did sting a bit.
This is hands down the best GI Joe figure restoration I've ever seen. Superb work, Toy Polloi.
Wow, thanks!
Looks good, but you forgot 1 thing. Xamot has a face scar. :)
Hi I have a Gi Joe Defiant play-set that’s slightly damaged and needs general work do you do commissions to repair spruce up items I am in Birmingham
Hi, I don't but I'm happy to offer advice on how to repair things yourself. I think I've covered most repairs now in the channel even if they are for the exact toy you are working on. Feel free to DM me. Cheers
Is it true bryan lower 😊said cobra convergence is over because he's giving up on GI joe ?
can you restore a Transformers g1 fortress maximus?
If only I had one!
Better than new
Did you remember Xamot's scar?
You should translate your channel to Spanish, that takes alot of time of course but I feel like people of all nationalities should see your toy repair videos, they're great. It's great content I've been entertained by your ingenuity since about the age of 10-11. I'm 19 now and I always come back to tune in and watch to see how much you've been up to since I last watched. You're highly creative and I find your photo shopping skills to be super impressive.
Thanks. I know CZcams has an auto translate option which I often use when watching channels not in English. It's not great but does and OK job. Otherwise I wouldn't know how to go about it, or have the time. Just running this channel on my own takes a lot of work as it is. Cheers Dave
Battle wounds are just part of the repair experience 🪛 Cooobra 🐍
Totally. They are proof you have tried, and failed 😎
