Which Hub Sounds The Best?

- Recently we made a Short with a silent Onyx hub and many of you loved the idea of having a silent bike, but at the same time many others proclaimed that you love having a loud hub on your bike. When it comes to loud hubs, which one do you prefer? Industry Nine, DT Swiss, and Berd all have fantastic hubs nowadays but people will always have their preference and the real proof is in the pudding. Tasty, weird pudding. I think everyone should experience Onyx hubs at least once. I won’t put any other hub on my bikes. Sure they’re a bit heavy but there’s something quite beautiful about flying through the woods and only hearing your tires rolling on the dirt, the wind in your face and birds singing around you.
Onyx hubs are awesome.

Edit: T'is but a joke yall i do get that i need regular maintenance but you gotta admit, creaking parts are annoying af

So I think you use a Mavic ID360
Put some grease in the freehub instead of oil
@@henrylarson8271 Yep, can barely hear my hydra. I mix in a little hub oil though, longer servicing intervals.
How's your onyx ? My bearings don't seem to last very long , they stick after a year or less
@@rinky_dinky My Onyx classics (classics come with ceramic bearings) are fine after 2 years of abuse and little to no maintenance.
Silent hubs all the way. Love the quietness of the bike

right I use my bike for deer and elk hunting I don't want to hear anything but maybe the leaves under the tires.

Hydra and I’ve got a DT 350 Hybrid with the 54T kit. It just sounds glorious. But I’ll have to throw the Nukeproof Horizon into the ring.

I have that same setup but DT Swiss is bullet proof and that makes up for the sound. And it still sounds great

Industry Nine all day! Hydra and 1/1 are both great.
Onyx, forever. The way I experience trails is SO different now, particularly night riding is just absolutely superb.
I also blew through a bunch of PBs from a previous bike that I'd been trying to catch for a year, and I've passed them a few times again since. It's partly the engagement, but I think also just playing with the trail more intuitively because I certainly don't feel like I'm pushing harder, it just flows.
Fantastic upgrade, 1000% recommend.

I own a DT Swiss wheelset.I’m probably the biggest fan of their hubs.Not only do they sound great,they accelerate.

Back in the days, the quiet ones are the most expensive. The reason for quiet is that you can sneak a surprise attack from behind. We have a rider in our group with noisy hub, we told him to use different wheels if he likes to ride with our group. It was extremely noisy & annoying sound.
