    You forgot South Sea and Tahitian sea water pearls. The Japanese are not the only source of sea water pearls. The others generally have more color variety and they are often not round. One is admired for its flaws. I have a necklace of South Sea pearls that are kind of golden. I forget what they call the shade.

    • @KyllonenLuxury
      @KyllonenLuxury  Před rokem +2

      Pearls have two distinctive parts for color. You have a body color and you have an orient. For example. White pearls have a white body, but the orient can be pink, green, or pink and green. Dyed pearls often lose their orient or the body color becomes an unnatural color. The more you see pearls the easier it is to tell what is dyed. Gold Pearls are the hardest to tell what are dyed but theyre usually too yellow or too red. There is still a trick to do it. I will show that in a new video.

    I'm still confused as to which pearls to purchase. I've read that the freshwater pearl is more durable as well as cheaper and you can get a gem quality freshwater pearl. However, I love luster and am a mature woman so I would love akoyas.

    • @KyllonenLuxury
      @KyllonenLuxury  Před 4 lety +6

      Hi Kimberly. Usually I recommend buying Akoya pearls if you can afford them because side by side akoya pearls are superior in luster and roundness. However, if feel you arent careful with taking care of pearls and you just want an everyday wear thats you arent worried about, then go with the freshwater pearls. I wouldnt say theyre more durable. Just easier to replace for the cost.

      It depends on the quality of both. A high end freshwater necklace at a glance can look better than lower end akoya pearls. However, high end akoya pearls will simply be too shiny to not know they are akoya pearls. My suggestion is if you dont have the budget for akoya pearls, then go with a high end freshwater set. A really good freshwater set can even fool a jewelry fanatic.
