Is anyone else watching Becky and remembering what it was like when they were pregnant and started nesting. I love your videos. I remember with my 2nd child, I had been on bed rest for 2 months(pre-eclampsia) I woke up one morning with an amazing burst of energy. I cleaned the entire house, including washing 4 loads of clothing, dusting, vacuuming and changing sheets on all the beds, then set up the nursery. Called my mom to let her know all was ready for the baby and I only had a month to go. She said," Babe, we will be there tomorrow. I have some shopping to do in the city." She told Dad they would need to be here 1st thing in the morning (a 3 1/2 hour drive) and they were there by 6am. That night I went into labor about 11 pm and didn't call her because I knew they always went to bed by 9. Thankfully Mom put more stock in a pregnancy "nesting" than she did in the doctor and they were both there for the birth of their last grandchild.

Here are some decorating ideas for you…
    1. Place either a larger basket with flat bottom or wooden tray with the jar of Epsom salts, a larger candle or several (odd number) of bronze candle sticks and maybe a medium size vase of eucalyptus.
    2. A larger bath mat in the same color and texture that you bought
    3. Keep it painted green, it highlights the white trim work!
Your ideas are great, just need some tweaks on scale!

I was thinking a dark wood bowl or even the refillable candle that was purchased during the conference (and has been on the kitchen island). And a larger at the very least longer bath mat. I was thinking along the same lines. The current bathmat is not large enough for the scale of the tub area but the texture/design of it is very nice.
The green "stripe" actually helps to distinguish the edge of the tub top & the floor. I have occasional depth perception issues (if there aren't distinct visual clues to guide me) and would likely trip over the edge trying to get in because I didn't gauge the height properly because of "too much" white.

The canister for the bath salts and candle will be nice. You can also add some washcloths for your guests in there as well. I'd paint the green stripe white as you originally wanted, set your shower curtains to open in the middle (hooks ending either side of the vertical bracket) and keep them open until the shower is in use (I realise it's an American thing to keep the shower curtains closed). I'd either buy a second bath mat or a larger one so that it looks like it fits the floor space better and I'd have some sort of greenery and rolled face cloths/towels at the end of the bath. Also, with shower curtains you may need to untuck the outside so it doesn’t get wet when the shower is on. If you were going to leave it outside the tub I’d go for a longer lengthy in the front, but that makes it really tricky for the part that goes over the bench area. Hi Becky, I love the green paint color wainscoting below the tub and your relaxing bath scape idea. To bring in a natural element to your room maybe consider a tortoise shell bamboo Roman Shade for your window, inset mounted opposed to mounting it directly to your beautiful new wood casings. The shade can be ordered with an attached valence and with a dual function to pull up from the bottom or lowered from the top to allow for privacy while still being able to look out the upper portion of your window, I think it will be a nice complement to your vanity and your paint color. Try spray misting your shower curtain with fresh water to release the wrinkles, it works great on most fabrics and saves from extra work. 😊

Nice progress on the bathroom! Those can be hard to decorate. My (many) opinions:
    - I think the bathmat is cute, but I think it's too small for the space. I think you need something ~ 50% longer than that.
    - I like the green! If you're concerned about things feeling too dark, you could lighten the room up with a white stencilled pattern along the ceiling or baseboard? Or just a single line of white? But I know that you're a strong minimalist, so that might feel too busy.
    - I'd consider a wooden tray for the bath salts. Teak works well in bathrooms, and will hold up better than something woven. (Though mildew is likely less of an issue where you are than it is here in FL!) Plus, a flat surface will be more stable for candleholders like the one you showed compared to a woven one.
I think a triangle shape would be great in that spot if you could find one that echoes the shape of the room, or if you were cutting down one of those teak 'bathmats' to use.
    - For the tub, I'd go with just the cloth liner, if it's robust enough to keep water out of the main bathroom. If you're going to have a liner and a curtain, I think that it's odd to have the curtain inside of the tub at that length. (You then have 2 layers inside of the tub, and one of those layers is designed to not get wet - it means that you're left wondering where to put things when you're done taking a shower.)
If you want to have 2 layers, I'd consider hemming the curtain so that it just skims the edge of the tub? I think that might look a little unusual, but I think it's the best 2-layer option. Because I agree with you - having it *outside* of the tub also looks weird, since the rim is so wide. Plus, it can't go outside of the full tub, so you're left with a kind of french tuck situation.

    • @amywright8355

Shower curtain: I’d suggest having the curtains overlap on one or two hooks so that if someone is moving around in the shower and brushes up against the curtain it won’t open and thus water get everywhere. I agree with the placement, it looks better inside. I’d also consider the material you want as the charger plate/placemat in there remembering that it’s a humid environment which promotes mildew. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your channel! You inspire me with all your energy and ideas. I love baking and being in the kitchen like you do. You have given me courage to try new things (I'm 71). As to your beautiful guest bath - I think you should leave the lovely green under the tub as it is. Gorgeous color. I like others' suggestion of wooden blinds/shades for that window, but I would only have it cover from the white horizontal line on the lower window (like a quarter of the way down) to the bottom. That would allow more natural light to come in. A person would have to try really hard to see someone in the bathroom from the upper section. Possibly on the corner wall you think is too much green, find a lovely smallish mirror with wood frame like your vanity one. You have great taste, so whatever you do will be fabulous. Thanks for being you...

Love the green on tub wall - I'd leave that, hang the tub rug over the side of tub. I would keep the wicker round for bath salts jar. I would add a philodendron plant next to the jar of salts. I would not put curtains or blinds - I would use that discrete sticky window film on the lower half of your bath window for privacy AND keep the character of window showing. They make such cool choices now days. Love Love your house !

Becky, I saw a recipe on America's test kitchen called Thai grilled Cornish hens. It called for cilantro root, but since they couldn't source the roots, they used cilantro stems and leaves. Thought you might like to try harvesting the roots next year and try them on a recipe

I personally love the green in the bathroom! It breaks up all the white everywhere else. I vote for the shower curtain inside the tub. And I agree with everyone else that the bathmat is small for the space, but I love the textured pattern. Tetrazzini is Sooo good! I may have to make that soon. Maybe with leftover Thanksgiving turkey.

That bake oatmeal recipe is so awsome. Thanks for showing us that... No need to put shower curtains in the dryer. The steam from the shower will make wrinkles fall out. Turn on Hot water close bathroom door let it steam the bathroom for about ten minutes it will be fine I love those windows open like that. Your home is so beautiful !!! I love all the Green it just perfect 👌

    Shower curtain inside the tub.
Get a tray for the jars and the candle needs to be a jar to protect your curtains.
A much bigger mat that coordinates with the little one. Then add the little one in front of the vanity.
Add some rolled towels, hand towels, washcloths in a basket for the guests.
I'd keep the green on the tub. White is going to make it harsh and not show off the tub. You could tape white paper over it to test the color difference without repainting or messing up your paint.
Whew! Such a cute bathroom and you are doing a great job. And thank you for being careful! 💜

It looks great, but a bigger mat, I think white would be the way to go and black lights so the door doesn't feel eft out 😁 Also, a plant or 2 in front of the window. You guys are doing such a great job on the house ❤️

Bathroom looks great! I think the bath mat might need to be a little bigger and if you're really fussy the curtains maybe need to be more of an off-white colour instead of the bright white. It looks fine though. Such a great space and I love your staging idea with the epsom salts!! So relaxing☺️

I agree with the off white suggestion. Mixing warm and cool whites makes the warm white looks like it yellowed overtime. I love your new guest bath :)

I discovered your channel a few months ago, and then i went back to the beginning. I adore you and your family. I dont think Josh has ever not liked anything you cook for him. 😊😊. He is also a good food critic. He has thoughtful things to say.

Shower curtain hanging tip : have a sturdy non slip stool or chair to stand on tall enough so you can easily reach the rod/pole. Place the 1st hook in the shower curtain grommet (hole) hang it. Do the same for the very last hole. then you will not have to juggle a hanging curtain. You will see if you need 1 or 2 curtains. Hang the one on the back of the tub first. If you have an adjustable spring rod take it down. Sit and one by one put hooks on rod after sliding the curtain in the holes. You can also do 1st & last or just do them in a row. Reposition rod on the walls

Keep the green...it looks rich! Mixing metals, especially in less used areas isn't a bad thing and often adds interest. Your dinner looks fabulous!

I love the green in your bathroom! It's going to turn out so cute when you are all done. I agree the shower curtain should stay in the tub. A potted Eucalyptus plant in a pot next to the shower in that corner would be pretty and Eucalyptus in a bathroom is great for stress relief and respiratory health! Next to that you could have a pretty candle a little further down the ledge or maybe a cute little display basket with travel-sized toiletries like hotels have since it is your guest bathroom? That way if anyone forgets to bring something while staying over, you are all ready to go! The bath mat should be a bit longer I think just because of the design of the tub, but I agree the white one you got is a nice look and pattern! You could try checking out Target online as well if you are thinking of returning the one you have, because their website has many more options available than the store did, and if they give you store credit and you found one you like online, you can use it to get it there instead of being limited to what is at your target location. So excited for you your house design plans are starting to come together for you!

I would go against a eucalyptus tree as they can get too big and not really stored to a bathroom situation.

Love the green bathroom. Maybe a larger bath mat and some sort of natural or white window blind or shutter type covering. 🤔 Love the bath salts and candles. Maybe a couple or plants. I don't use the plastic lining just fabric shower curtain. I find that it stays so much cleaner and it's easier to pop in the washer and rehang. The pasta looks amazing and I love how Josh tastes it and responds its perfect and thank you. So sweet. Such a great way to end the video without ever seeing him on camera.

I love your bathroom. That color is fantastic! You asked for suggestions and there were a couple of useful things that I could see missing. A hook near the shower to hang a robe, and a basket behind the tub with rolled towels in it. You're doing a great job!

I think a wood (similar color as your sink) or wicker tray would be perfect on the area behind the tub. I love the dark green below the tub. It will show less dirt & be easier to clean. Maybe a larger bath rug? Absolutely love this room! You are a great at decorating!

As long as the plastic curtain is longer than the cloth curtain it will work. I like the white curtain a lot. The natural color of the wicker is spot on. Don't worry about putting a cheaper candle in there and save the beeswax for you. The bath mat works. You're only catching water so you don't slip. You can also put it up folder over the edge of the tub if you don't want it on the floor. I couldn't shower in there without blinds. EEEK! Thank you for giving me courage about the caulking. OH... leave the green on the lower wall. LOOOOVVEE it!!!

I have a double sink in my master ensuite & guest bathroom. I found some double length white bathmats which fit perfectly in the space...I think it would be great next to your guest bath! I love to add 'natural' elements also & maybe a plant would be a lovely addition to the jar and candle. I love to be a part of your life, Becky! Thank you for sharing :)

Go with the matte black on the lighting to match your hardware. And I think the green around the tub looks excellent. If you put white, you will have a lot of white (tub, curtains, rug) all white. I think it looks wonderful as is. I think you need that little bit of black connection in your lighting along with the hardware as it is the only black in the room. My opinion, for what it is worth. 🙂
