  • We are in Beijing to explore the Chinese martial art of Xingyi with master Tongan Jia. Xingyiquan fighting art uses fast powerful attacks often in a straight or angular direction, closing down the opponent very fast. Most often the opponent is overwhelmed by the speed and intensity of the straight-line punches.

I trained in Xingyi for about 2 years. Beforehand I had trained some in Judo, Karate and traditional Jujitsu. Within 3 months of practice I understood exactly how a 4rth degree Jujitsu blackbelt could fling someone backwards by catching their fist (not an easy or advisable task). Xingyi has a lot of concussive strikes. Whilee practising Xingyi I heard it said that Tai Chi is an empty circle, Bagua is the circle and Xingyi is a straight circle. Xingyi was the best, but it is sadly very hard to find an authentic teacher.

Love the explosive power of Xingyi shown by the sifu. I never trained it, but I will in future in addition to my Taiji. Thanks for this great video 🙏

I have yet to see any of the internal arts spar, anyone, but their own style. Would love to see the REAL TIME demonstration.

I actually started practicing tai chi, but not for fighting purposes. I think other fighting arts/sports are more suitable for that.

@@Houndfromhell76 very few practitioners seem to spar with it but i have seen it done before. As a Shaolin and Xingyi practitioner, sparring with people in and outside the style is very beneficial and important.

seeing only choreographic training.... problem of modern chinese martial arts, without essence gong li training, they are only as good as dancing.

Looks like this master learned from my good friend Luo Da Cheng (unfortunatelly died before years by drink Hongxing Erguotou, which he loved so much🙏🙏🙏). Xing Yi Quan is almost lost in transmission. As everybody see in this video, it is NOT Xing Yi Quan, but rather Chang Quan. And even, the first old rule od Xing Yi Quan is the all body is relaxed, except the fist. See this masters fist please. This is even not Chang Quan, this is 空拳 from 24 forms simplified Taijiquan, founded by master Li Tian Ji for wide masses of old people morning exercises. Real old Xing Yi Quan is 99% over. I know many schools and branches from whole China and only few struggle to be "orthodox".

The forms are from Xing Yi. Unfortunately, He seems like he's rushing through the forms & not focus on the internal aspect of it. Maybe, he's too focus on the fighting aspect of it instead building a solid basic foundation. Therefore, they look like long fist forms. I know a few Sifus whom focus on too many styles/forms & neglect their basics. Hence, all the forms they do look alike & lacking their original flavors.

@@johnchiang485 Yes. Style is defined by basics, not by forms. There are schools of "xing Yi" where students learn all known "forms" in 3 months. But this is less then one correct Santishi 😅. If someone know very Correct Santishi+ piquan it is absolutelly orthodox Xing Yi Quan even if he doesn't know any else. Many people now think that know forms is the style. But XYQ style is maily "Neigong" and main fundamentals of Neigong are based on correct body position. I knew Luo Dacheng (I guess Luo was master of master on the footage) very well and he taugh many kids and young people in Dongcheng Wushu School before 30 years just for forms to show on wushu competition. So it looks like Chang Quan

@@bruno1653 hello, I guess good xing yi is over already and there are not links to any real orthodox video, perhaps there will be discovered and revealed some 100 years before old footages 😅 On my channel I tried to collect some pieces of “better” orthodox practitioners over China, but I have to admit, that this is sad truth, old XYQ is lost and not orthodox anymore, even in our branch. 🙏And it is worse and worse in every new generation.

Do You think Masters like Niu shengxian and Di Guo yong don't have the original xing yi practices?
