The Jesse Tree is a beautiful Advent Devotional that many Catholic Families use during the season of Advent. But, what is the Jesse Tree...and is there a way to use this devotional that is EASY and MEANINGFUL for Catholic families? I strive to answer both of these questions in this video.
First of all, the Jesse Tree is a walk through the ancestors of Jesus Christ, starting with Adam and ending with Jesus Himself. Each day of Advent is assigned a different character from Jesus's family tree (the Jesse Tree) and the family will spend time looking at that character through some Bible Verses and a symbol that is often portrayed on an ornament that is hung on the tree.
If you would like to use the Jesse Tree with your Catholic Family this year, I encourage you to download and use the FREE QUICK START GUIDE TO THE JESSE TREE. It lists all of the characters, verses to read for each and a symbol as well.
You can grab the guide right here: pages.convertkit.com/4b39e2c3...
But, many families struggle with the Jesse Tree once they get into weeks two and three of Advent. The characters aren't very familiar, and the verses can be lonnnnnggg. However, I have discovered, that they REAL point of the Jesse Tree is NOT to memorize all of these characters from the Old Testament. The point is to get to know GOD THE FATHER so that we are ready to welcome His Son on Christmas, Jesus Christ.

I encourage you to get started with the Jesse Tree and pray that you have a blessed Advent season with your family!

I did the Jesse Tree one year, although only for me, as my particular devotional. Each day I watched a video, read the Bible and colored an ornament. The activity I joined was thought for children, but I learned so much!!

Never done the Jesse tree before. I had never heard of it until last year when my really good friend told me about it. This is our first year.

That mid-advent drag is REAL! I have done it the last two years with my daughter, but last year I was pregnant (had my baby December 15th!) So the exhaustion was legit.
    I’m ready this year!
Thank you for this video! ♥️

We do the Jesse tree, and yes, consistency lags after the first week or so. Sometimes we have to play catch up and do three or more ornaments at once, or skip the reading and just "an ounce the ornament of the day. Hoping to do better about that this year, but even imperfectly, it's a wonderful Advent devotion.

Which will motivate me to make it a priority! As always Nancy you did a great job articulating the point of the tradition! I am excited to start Advent prepared and motivated!

Thank you for your video, but at 2:38, it sounded like you said Jesus came from the "Masonic" line. I think you meant to say the "Messianic" line.

This will be our first year doing the Jesse tree! I’ve seen 2 different ways of doing it: one with all people from the Old Testament and the other with Dec 17-Dec 24 based off the O Antiphons. Is there a right or wrong one? Or is it preference? I’m trying to get prepared! :)
