Again great update, absolutely love the cross country Volvo V60 at Enterprise. Hope to get a nice upgrade from luxury category to a Volvo for my rental at Alamo from Denver to LA next September!
We decided to book with National @ YYZ, for this coming August. The Hertz PC selection was terrible last time, and continues to be, judging by your helpful vlogs. We might even bump into you when we pick up ;)
Great choice! It's been over a year since I've rented from Hertz at YYZ as it's been such a disaster lately. National at YYZ has great staff and great customer service and the fleet is really strong this summer with lots of newer vehicles. For sure if you run into me out there be sure to say hi :)

I like that the rental companies no longer just rent the base model of everything. To see Rubicons and Hemi trucks is interesting. It used to be you'd get a Toyota with LE trim etc. Just basic. They're also not married to brands anymore?
Interesting times, the car rental places are taking whatever they can get which has brought in some more interesting trim levels. Although more recently the past month or so it looks like some of the fleet sales are coming back. There are a lot of newer Ford Escapes/Edges in the fleet for example.
I really love your videos super informative. Do you have any idea about the national emerald club at Edmonton International airport? Are they similar to the ones found in pearson or Jfk or worse? It will be my first time traveling to canada so any information will be of great help thanks in advance
Great question. I've found that the National/Alamo/Enterprise fleet is very similar across all of the locations I've been too in Canada. And to a certain extent similar to what you will find at the USA locations. With the exception that we don't really get any of the two door sports cars up here like the Mustang/Camaro/Challengers. With a few exceptions. YYZ gets a bunch in for the summer as premium upgrades, but they are gone by the time the snow rolls around. Have a great trip to Canada!
When renting at YYZ with Alamo do you pick your own vehicle in lot as with Alamo in Orlando(MCO)
With National you can pick any car in the aisle. With Alamo they will typically give you a choice of some vehicles in the category you booked.
What is your favourite car rental company at YYZ? Is there any way I can specify the exact car model I want to the company?
For sure any of National/Alamo/Enterprise. They are basically the same company just different brands... all of them at YYZ have great customer service.
