Fender strat + compressor + reverb + a tiny dash of overdrive = best tone ever

I was blown away instantly by this pedal. I was looking for an overdrive, someone mention the Rat with level up, dustortion down low but this sounded even better. I also liked it over the tube screamer. Put it on lay away, pick it up in like a week. Works wonders clean or high gain!

I’d liked to have seen you use a Strat or something with single coil pickups. I have a Boss CS3, and I think, it would better job, of cleaning up and compressing the signal. I run a standard Strat through the Boss, and into a Peavey Valveking 112. It’s some pretty tasty tone. I do love your videos. 👍🏿👍🏿
Try it on single coil mode with its gain around 12/1:00 in front of an over drive on high gain 👍

Ladies and Gents. I have a compression question/issue. Motivated by Tylers wonderful video on the Keeley compressor, I went out the other day and picked myself up a Keeley 4 knob. Sounds amazing Clean and when placed in front of my TC MojoMojo overdrive. However, when placed in front of a higher gain distortion pedal, I get this wierd noise that sounds like a Military Helicopter flying over head. Its a steady tugga tugga tugga tugga sound. Make sense? If I take the compressor and place it after the distortion pedal, the sound goes away. Is this normal?

I'd say its in 7/8. Just because of the tempo, and because it has a 1,2-1,2-1,2,3 pulse. Plus i think its a more common time signature to be writing in.

What is that thing besides your window?
Is it normal for it to make a loud pop sound when you first turn it on or after a while of being off? When I use my keeley it makes a real concerning popping noise.

Would you place the compressor before or after a preamp pedal? In my rig, my signal chain runs through the preamp into my drives, booster and then delays and reverb into the amp in stereo. I've ordered this pedal and wanted to know the best placement. Thanks.
I have mine after my tuner and wah and before everything else. Guitar - tuner - wah - compressor - eq - distortion - amp.

I haven't heard compression in real life, but from my understanding it makes rhythm playing sound great and lead playing sound like shit. Why would you want to compress lead guitar? Pick attack is what makes the guitar so expressive.
It's all about application dude
Perfect example would be to use this compressor with a fuzz of your choice. If you are into a good fuzz, this will add to the sound on a unreal level. A compressor also allows for more control of your sound. Try this one out for a week and see how you feel after. You can always return it, but there’s a reason why you will rarely see any Keeley pedal that is used for sale. I’m not a fanboy, I just appreciate their quality.
Not everyone has absolutely perfect control over the dynamics of their picking. If you pop a note a little too hard, a good compressor will keep it from sticking out like a sore thumb and embarrassing you on stage or ruining a take in the studio, while remaining otherwise transparent. I have this compressor and it is really, really great. You can adjust the blend knob to let more or less of your dynamics come through.
Is your song in 5/4? If not, what is it in? The time signature sounds like it's an off beat.

The best way to learn and get to know new time signatures is to learn songs that use them, I feel. Try learning some Tool songs for example, they're fun and challenging and can be really weird sometimes. They're also good for learning poly rhythms.

So far the hardest choice I’ve had to make is a compression pedal, for three reasons:
1) Can’t hear a difference over CZcams. It just sounds quiet when it’s off & louder when it’s on.
2) Amazon reviews are of the brand, not the pedal. Lots of overdrive & delay pedal reviews but no compressor reviews… *for a compressor.*
3) Nothing but stupid BLUES NOODLING. Arrrgh!!!! Enough with the ‘Blues Hammer’ garbage. Play some actual melodies with/without overdrive.
Man.... I gotta tell ya.......do yourself a favor and ditch that PRS. Sounds horrible.
