    Like everyone is saying, that adds 1/4 “ to the door. Probably would have to recut the hinges and fill holes.

    With adding to the thickness of the slab how does it work against the door jamb, or did you have to adjust your hinges to account for thickness?

      Remove the doorstop strip around the inner door jam. Fill the old holes for the doorstop, sand. Hang the door on the hinges. Close the door and reinstall the doorstop strips in front of the door. Fill holes, sand. Take down door and prime/paint the jam then rehang the door.

      Hínges have to be reset back on the door to account for extra thickness or else it will jamb. Also doorset needs to be set at 2 3/4 to account for new thickness of door. The easy part is adding panels and paint. The real skillful part is hanging the door.

    How do you open the door. There is no handle. I suspect the 1/8" panel would stil allow for an off the shelf handle to be installed. I will likely do this on our bedroom and bathroom doors just on the outside and not the inside. Finish product looks great.

  • @shawnwaldrop3702
    @shawnwaldrop3702 Před rokem +2

    Very cool! But I don’t see how the heck you made this for $15. Sheet plywood is expensive. And since you were at Home Depot I don’t see that being free. Wood glue, primer and paint makes it around $80-100 just in materials alone. Even if the project door was free.

    • @briankillebrew
      @briankillebrew Před rokem

      I mean you wouldn’t use a whole gallon of paint or primer on a single door. And if you’re doing multiple doors you’d spread the cost out. It’s definitely doable at 15 per door.
      It’s not a 15 dollar investment but it’s totally doable per door
