It would probably be much quicker and easier if you just put the electric parking brake (EPB) into the SERVICE MODE. Then you can just push the piston in WITHOUT disassembling the EPB module.

That would be absolutely the truth. However, on this vehicle, the procedure did not work even after multiple tries. I forgot to mention that. Of course, it should be taken in to be serviced, however, if in a squeeze for time, this would work.

In the interest pf progress they invented the electronic parking brake! Whats wrong with the 100 year old traditional parking brake using a ratchet and wires?

I am no fan of the electric parking brake. Sure, the old fashioned cable ones had to be adjusted but then you have issues like some of the Chevrolet parking brakes where if the vehicle is broke down and needs to be towed, the parking brakes keeps reactivating causing extra issues for anyone trying to tow it

Why do car manufacturers feel the need to electrify everything mechanical on a vehicle???? Oh, and make as many plastic parts as possible.

In the endeavor to make vehicle production as cheap as possible, they introduced plastics, which also gave them a weight savings. Even though the mechanical break has been around faithfully for years, it’s restraintf restrain them from doing other things. Also, many many more drivers like the creature, comfort and a safety comfort that comes with a vehicle that is almost fully automatic. But I agree with you, what’s wrong with the old dependable, mechanical parking brake.
