I've started being scared of fireworks. I almost fell asleep under my bed because of how scared I got. The fireworks were so loud and shaking the dorm. And they sounded like gunshots. I honestly don't think I'll ever see fireworks the same again. This makes me feel like I'm not alone.

Jokes aside I can definitely say that I relate. That's how I used to react to fireworks when I was a kid. I can say that my ANC headphones have been really useful for the 1st of August (the equivalent of the 4th of July in Switzerland) and New Year's

So yeah, I had and still have a phobia of loud noises. It used to be really horrible when I was a kid. Balloons popping would absolutely terrify me and cause me to cry. I remember once I went to a circus show and at one point there was an explosion (likely a firecracker, this was during the clowns show as a comedic stuff), this basically traumatised me of circuses. I never went back to the Knie (the circus in question) ever after, despite it being one of the most popular circuses in Switzerland.
Fireworks are also quite terrible for me. I've definitely been traumatised by fireworks, and now I've grown a hatred for private fireworks. Honestly I don't have anything against public firework shows, but private fireworks for the 1st of August and New Year's… it's another story. I could go into details about all the harm that fireworks cause, but this comment is already too long. And to be honest, fireworks are at least pretty. Firecrackers are just pointless and I hate them even more.
Balloons are another story. I was terrified of balloons as a kid, but over time I grew a fascination with them and nowadays I absolutely love balloons, hehe

im in one of the only towns where fireworks are like legal right by a huge city where they are illegal (San Francisco), so their have been fireworks none stop since the 30th last month. My dog is a huge scary looking dog but is a fucking scaredy cat so all i've been hearing is explosions and barks for like 8 days.

Nah but fr, I hate fireworks. I guess I could see the appeal sometimes, I mean, they are pretty, but beyond that, there's just nothing. Maybe it's because I've grown up around dogs and horses, but I just see fireworks as a big waste of money. It disturbs pets and wildlife, it is littering (all the metals that create the pretty colours have to come down somehow, and it usually just ends up in food and water sources for wildlife), and they're so expensive! Most I do is buy a couple of sticks of those sparklers, or whatever they're called in english, and fire them up with friends as we drink and listen to music. Don't really understand why fireworks are so popular
