for me when the edges stay in the braids look fresher longer, and my edges will eventually come out on its own. so if it were up to me leave them in
@@liv_kells even tho you’re totally right, keep in mind that even if you don’t notice it, some of your baby hairs might’ve been torn out bc of that. My baby hairs would come back out eventually too, but I’m almost sure I suffered sum breakage bc of braiders pullin my baby hairs in too tight :/ I used to have more baby hairs than i do now smh. Now im learning to do my own hair at home to avoid salon women yanking at it too much lol :’)
@@FaerieElethia Very true. I have to agree with you. I’m a mixed male and my aunt always tells me that when I have kids and that have long thick hair make sure to tell the salon lady to leave your edges out. Keeping them in can tear them out and mess them up. A lot of people don’t hear this though and end up losing hair.

Same, that's the whole reason I looked up how to do it, cuz mine are long and say absolutely no to any product. Bout to use braid gel and see what happens.

In my experience, you just have to keep doing them yourself at home!

Hello Abby i am really appreciate of this video. I am not trying to appropriate any culture and i do not have braids. I generally have straight hair but it is very thick and course at times and my edges are so large and wild and fly everywhere. It is appropriate to lay edges for my hair? I would like to follow the video (not the braids but they are beautiful!) and i don’t want to offend anyone or appropriate anyone’s culture! Sorry if this rude i won’t do it if it is. I just have really loose edges and i always look disheveled bc of them. This vid is beautiful.
