You should also watch a video of The Bronx in the 80s...the Bronx was on fire. What you see with Nelson and Christina and the rest of them is passionate. If you made it in New York City, specially around alphabet city, you are truly a winner. My friend Eddie died of AIDS in 1989. People often relate AIDS with some kind of a gender preference out of ignorance... my friend Eddie was not gay, he was sharing needles shooting up heroin and coke. If you look at NYC throughout the 5 different boroughs, Manhattan was the life of the party for a lot of people and these guys you see were and still AWESOME...they were fearless. These videos make my heart shake and ache with flashbacks of the best time of my life....

I dnt think the scitzophrenia was the cause i think a person has there own personality i think she learned to keep to herself....and might have talked to her self like a baby holds on to its blanket a comfort thing!!!!.....just a thought...im a straight guy but the lgbt community is very intriguing to me...my uncle was and passed away from hormone injections...but i just want to give you guys support!....you are all humans that love and so was christina!...i hope your community becomes more and more the norm in the world!...i believe in whatever makes you happy you go for it!....Alex(Athens,ga)

I work in the medical field and although I’ve never treated Christina definitely seems to show some sort of schizophrenic attributes. She wasn’t acting. I can tell you that much!

I like how you throw in "I work in the medical field" as if your non-psychiatrist job makes you more qualified than the rest of us. Now if you were a cop or soup kitchen volunteer who encounters more mentally unstable people than other professions, including psychiatrists, you might have a point.
@@TS-qq7vr Well, T S, I just happen to be a forensic psychologist and, like Toby, I will make the disclaimer that I have never treated Christina and videos only tell you so much.
That said, her global presentation is consistent with a SKS diagnosis. Back then, there really were no good treatments. The medication back then had many side effects and caused a condition called tardive dyskinesia. That's why so many people chose to go without meds.
I obviously can't diagnose her from videos. At the same time, after watching several videos of her, I wouldn't doubt a SKS diagnosis.
Unfortunately, I think she led a very difficult life. My heart has to go out to her.

Not sure why you or OP are listing your credentials though, considering you already pointed out that you can't diagnose her. So really, you're just making assumptions, based off of snippets of video, that were taken 30+ years ago. How exactly is that ethical...because you say you "wouldn't doubt a SKS diagnosis"?

thanks, somehow I haven't thought about the potential ilness, but surely it might have been a contributing factor. so sad. if you pass as an extravagant one it's either pathetic or inspirational, but no-one wants to look deeper and embrace the person. I'm happy Nelson was around.

Unfortunately what I've read it sounds like suicide. In all the video's on 5ninthavenueproject Christina fascinated me the most. I've not seen them all but the video's I've seen with Sullivan she was smiling a lot. Maybe she was happy to be around him. Even though she had mental illness she was a fascinating character and deep down you could see she was a nice person. R.I.P I hope she realises all these years later people are still fascinated by her and still like her and I hope she made it to Heaven and found peace.
Oh so sad ... she must have gone thru so much thru her life and so sad there was no help. I heard her parents were paying her expenses to keep away from them, i think i read that somewhere unknown if true or not. Poor Christina RIP
Yes, I have heard that too. I think her family had very little to do with Christina. It must have been a very difficult life.

Interesting theory(s). It seems her life was somewhat “wild and crazy” anyhow (as in living on the edge). Her death could involve several factors. It’s too bad Nelson’s video, when he first talked about her death, wasn’t a little more revealing. Although Nelson’s videos seemed to show him as fairly stoic...
I hope that there is more video's of Christina to be uploaded. Although I do know that there is no footage of the memorial they were going to have for her. I keep hoping that they will upload a video that will fill in some of the gaps for us.
Nelson was good friends with her and very protective of her. He was upset with her passing and didn’t want her to be viewed in a negative light.
What is Christina's real name ? There is not enough true, factual history about Christina, there is just a lot of second hand information, from a crowd that really did not know her for a long time. I thought that there was something wrong with her in the videos, because of delayed response to questions and not able to answer simple questions , like do you want something to drink ? I don't know if she was murdered, or if she died of chronic health issues or suicide ? But she suffered a psychotic break, when she quit her teaching position and decided to be a woman from a man. You can tell she had psych problems in the videos . Very little was contrived.

i don't think she had schizophrenia and the 'they're telling me' observation is interesting but could be explained by other things, like 'people are telling me'. And the thing is, she wasn't disorganized, which is a huge symptom of schizophrenia. Her hair and make up always looked good, she was always dressed stylishly, she responded appropriately to questions for the most part even when she was high or drunk, unless she was totally fucked up on drugs, which you could tell by the slurring of her speech and stuff. I think she was just on K and other drugs a whole lot and drunk a whole lot. She switched accents on when she was performing or not, and still had this wild personality, but she was cognitively thinking about it all, not in a disorganized way. That make up and those outfits and keeping that wig looking good, its all hard work. And hallucinations when you are on drugs is not a sign that you are schizophrenic, you have to be sober and have them.
Who through acid in her face? I thought it was a cake. Where did this happen. Thank you for keeping us updated. I somehow hoping you will tell us there was a time that she was happy in her life. I wonder what her father is feeling now that she is dead. My family disowned me because I married outside of my race. I know what it's like to feel alone. I don't mind it. I could see she does.
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm bi-racial. My daddy is a white man, and my mama is creole. Her family have always hated me, but I don't let it bother me now, but it used to hurt😢
@@linaleblanc8288 My husband's family didn't like me. We broke up after 16 yrs. He married twice. I never went back to my family. It was difficult but now that I am 74 years old it doesn't matter anymore. I still have my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. So I have been blessed. I never want to go through that again.

I grew up with an auntie with schizophrenic and dated a guy for three years with it too. I don't care what Toby Blank says, I was with them outside of a clinic. Christina wasn't schizophrenic. Not to say she didn't have something but not schizophrenia. She took a lot of mind-altering drugs or possibly had a TBI, which would explain the behavior. Changing the chemistry of your brain may or may not create some crazy sh!t.
You didnt know this woman so stick your two cents else where you dont know if she was a schizophrenic as each person with it can be different and you have only seen a few clips of this woman’s life little miss know it all

Interesting. I was watching one of Nelson's videos last night where he goes to visit Christina in The Chelsea. Watching the video, at one point she is saying something that made absolutely no sense in the context of what was going on. Also the way she said it, I thought to myself, "I wonder if she is schizophrenic?"

The problem is Christina was born a man and tried to be a woman. No matter what anyone says, that will affect you period! Christina was hearing voices from the dark realm. Like many do. They label this as a mental condition but it's spiritual.
