Inward-facing cameras in trucks are often installed for safety and monitoring purposes, especially in commercial vehicles. They can help ensure driver alertness, monitor behavior, and provide evidence in case of accidents or disputes. However, the use of these cameras does raise issues regarding privacy and constitutional rights. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures, and the Fifth Amendment protects against self-incrimination. The installation of cameras that continuously record audio and visual information could potentially infringe upon these rights, especially if the recordings are used beyond safety purposes. The legality and specific implications of inward-facing cameras can vary depending on jurisdiction and context. It's important for lawmakers, regulators, and stakeholders to carefully consider the balance between safety and privacy when implementing such technologies. If you're personally affected by this issue or seeking advice, consulting with legal experts or advocacy groups specializing in privacy rights and transportation regulations could provide more specific guidance. Your concerns reflect a broader societal conversation about how technology impacts our fundamental rights, and it's important to engage in these discussions to ensure a fair and balanced approach.
4th Amendment means nothing in this case. You didn't learn anything from covid when companies were making employees get jabbed. A private business can have their own policies and it's up to you if you want to comply or quit.
Your right. The show will go on. When it comes to saving money, they will let drivers go and they will get some more from Trucking School and keep it moving. That was good content. Keep up the good work.
If companies tell insurance folks to piss up a rope and cancel their policy and go elsewhere to one that doesn’t they’ll stop demanding them. Whey aren’t they mandatory in four wheelers? I see way more folks reading paper or books or putting on makeup… ect in them than in cmv’s
I don't mind the outta facing camera but the inside to me is invasion of privacy..I ask them how would they feel if I put a camera up in your house,bedroom,bathroom...They like to lie and say it don't record or it only record during a event which is a lie that cam record Constantly but it only keep the events that happen..So they can spy, look in your truck anytime..Mite be changing clothes one day and they can see..
Prime announced this at a big conference lately that because of one driver who got caught watching videos while driving down the road. They are putting cameras into EVERY SINGLE one of their trucks
Great advice. Dont leave. Like you said, they are probably all going to do it, so you should take your own advice. Just ask if you can cover the camera once you are sleeping or something, or anytime you cut the truck off.
theres no need to cover the camera when you are sleeping because it turns off when the engine turns off. you can manually turn it off when idle even with the engine on. i guess if you wanna throw a cover over the camera when you sleep then you could but thats honestly just paranoia.... they arent active security cameras, theres nobody sitting in an office watching live feeds of all the drivers, it literally doesnt work that way source: i've driven vehicles with the exact same Netradyne cameras being installed in prime trucks
I just started with Prime last month. A few things are bothersome to me and that I am not keen on, but they primarily relate to my communication with in-house employees. Some folks on the other side of the phone are not very friendly, are dismissive, and sometimes speak to me as an imbecile. It’s not just people on the other side of the phone; there’s also staff I’ve encountered in person during my times at Springfield who have been the same way. I’m a major extrovert and socialite, so interacting with those types of people is not very fulfilling or pleasant. I also firmly believe in educating someone rather than belittling them, especially if they’re taking the initiative to want to learn. It is not that I have been verbally “belittled,” but that many more parts are involved in effective communication aside from just the words one speaks. Not only do I dedicate so much of my time and life to driving over the road, but I’m also a full-time dual degree student working towards a degree in Psychology and Neuroscience and Cognitive Science while I’m out here over the road, so, please, switchboard lady, do not insult my intelligence lol. 😂 None of that applies to the inward-facing cameras, but I just had to rant and get that out there lmfao. The cameras are certainly repulsive regarding inward-facing, but I was shocked to know they didn't even utilize outward-facing cameras. That's justifiable for insurance and claim purposes. Still, I don't think implementing an inward-facing camera is the most cost-effective solution, nor do I believe it will yield the results they're hoping for. There are still ways around the camera to detect someone on their cell phone without obstructing the lens or making any apparent changes. If drivers cannot refrain from being on their cell phones while driving, then it will still be something they do if there is a camera placed on the windshield or not. I can't see a justified reason to record a driver, audio or visually, when we sacrifice the “traditional” lifestyle, and things we do to drive for a company yet don't get the privilege or respect to embrace our space or privacy. You trust me enough to live in, respect, protect, drive, and hold possession of a $500K vehicle, BUT ONLY if you can record and document my activity. They all say it can’t be accessed live, it doesn’t record all the time, blah blah blah, but I don’t believe that shit as far as I could throw it. I feel like it’s relatable to an Amazon Alexa or any of those devices that sit back and listen 24/7, and you don’t even know it. I’m sure if someone was a psycho and murdered someone in their bunk and was going to trial for it, there would miraculously be footage from that camera that could indict you. I also feel like drivers who receive citations, have accidents, or are a risk to the company or other civilians’ safety for being on their cell phones should be handled and addressed accordingly as an individual. Fire them or whatever they deem necessary. Don’t stick a camera inside everybody’s truck, which doesn’t come with a guarantee that all phone usage while driving will come to a halt if they aren’t a part of the problem. As lease drivers, like the Omnitracs Qualcomm that dates back to before the Titanic, the NaviGo, and everything else aside from a trailer washout, how much will possibly be deducted from our settlements weekly for those? Anyway, I could continue, but I need to save something for next time. Like I said, I’m an extrovert and a socialite. I apologize for the essay. 😂 Those folks in-house don’t like to talk on the phone, and that’s usually when I get my human interaction, so I’m probably lacking and withdrawing from social connections, lol.
When they installed cameras in the amazon vans i complained about invasion of my privacy and then i got laid off. I got my IT certificates and havent been able to find work, so now im training for my CDL. I hate cameras
Simple fix , all the drivers refuse to drive and walk away from prime or any company that uses those . If you were a day cab that’s one thing but you live in that truck therefore it’s your home and in my opinion that’s an invasion of privacy.
Swift tried to do this in 2018 didn’t work out too well the lawsuits and a bunch of drivers quitting. They had to disable the inward facing camera🤷🏾♂️
I was there n witnessed that. They disabled them real quick 😂😂 I left in 2017 after they put them in. I was called abt a braking event n the video was Clear n had audio on me
Oh! Wow! Not cameras! Well I have been driving a school bus for 12 years and last month they installed cameras facing me and facing the traffic. So I believe the cameras are coming to all CDL drivers in the near future. You are a great driver and I believe you will make the right decision for you. Stay safe and God bless. SC 💚💚💚

I am not affiliated with Prime, but Muthertrucker News recently released a video. The unique feature of the inside camera is the AI technology it uses. According to my understanding, if you keep your head down for too long, it will generate noise and alert the company. Schneider National used to have inside cameras in their trucks but removed them. I am unsure of the reason, but it indicates that it is possible that it can be removed later on.
I wouldn't count on them to remove it I think in Snyder's case there was some potential liability because it was on all the time have you ever seen the government or a company give up some power that they received over the driver hell to the no they won't and you can bet that's the same thing going to happen with this camera is going to be pushed back and lawsuits and someone's going to win the lawsuit and if it's the drivers or the company or the government and then it's going to be permanent one way or the other just like these f***** up hours of service and mandatory breaks electronic logs do I have to say anymore?
ALWAYS follow the money trail! Prime knows there is money to be made on CZcams videos and, just like the police videos, they want in on the action. I don't think it's personal... They want the revenue.

The inside cameras only comes on when you have a hard brake or the truck motion detector is swaying. It goes back 15 seconds I believe. It’s to keep insurance cost down. Some companies have these cameras in all their trucks. They are key for accidents. I personally had them and when I was on a break I put a napkin over the camera. But when I was working I took it off. It’s for your benefit as well.
My personal experience I work with a mega carrier they did install cameras inside the trk.. they stop putting cameras because the company were losing divers till this day still NO CAMERAS INSIDE..👍
Jas., as for the camera,oh no, if the truck belongs 100% to the company there's not much you can say, but as a owner or lease you have a lot to say.My nephew drives out of Fla., for prime Amazon & quick because of camera (invasion of privacy) so he quit , but you do you, I love this journey with you 🎉
I drive local mixers! We have cameras too! I’m doing my job, so it doesn’t bother me! However, I can definitely respect everyone’s personal opinion about it! Stay safe out there!
It’s a company vehicle. Period. Those cameras will get installed sooner or later. Become an owner op. And to all the lease drivers, you are not an owner op. Anyways, love your videos. Keep it up.
yep, you are on a job site using company equipment. its really no different than working in a warehouse with heavy machinery where cameras are there to make sure people are safely doing their jobs maybe this will push more people into becoming owner ops and truckers can take the industry back from the mega carriers... thats the dream right?
Trucker are human beings and deserve so much more respect in our society. Everything is for sale these days, and the least we can do is support the drivers. They’re banned in Canada.
Leaving In situations that a person is not comfortable with doing, has nothing to do with trying to hurt the company . I think we as ppl all reach a point , when we have to draw a line in the sand
I drive for a very large private fleet. They considered putting driver facing cameras in the trucks. The lawyers thought about it and decided it was actually a liability for them to be in place. During an event, any activity other than gripping the wheel and looking forward or in the mirrors, can be deemed a distraction by opposing council. They decided they didn't want to give the other side any help and opted for forward facing cameras only. I hope this becomes a legal strategy and these cameras start costing the companies money.
If it’s voluntarily, I don’t want it, if it’s mandatory, like you said I will see how it goes. I believe if you are a safe driver it won’t affect you. The cameras won’t be for spying or else prime will make a lot of people rich off law suits. You also sound like a politician. Good reaction video to the situation 😂
You are not factoring in thd increase in liability on you as a independent contractor after a accident. Lawyer gonna scrutinize every move u made leading up to the accident
I work for ROEHL, we have outward and inward cameras, its not as bad as people makei t out to be in my opinion. Mine is normally turned off and it gets turned on for about 5 minutes every couple weeks. It gets covered by my windshield curtains at night. I honestly dont even think about it anymore
You are right it’s not always greener on the other side but with that said I drove for CFI out of Joplin,Missouri for about 10 years these mega carriers and schools don’t tell the young people they are going to teach you what you need to know to get your CDL license they teach you on a automatic transmission and you will be restricted to the automatic transmission and depending on what state you live in it can be very difficult to get that restriction off your license and learn how to shift a manual transmission but I left CFI because of the automatic transmission and the cameras and the system with them I believe most if not all of the mega carriers have gone to this for a young driver today with the automatic restrictions on their license they are stuck they don’t have much of a choice
I worked for an insurance company. Drove company car. I paid a fee to also drive company car for personal use. They wanted to install GPS on car and possibly install cameras. Luckily they tried it in a few and realized the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. Not cost effective and possibility of adding additional liability. Lawyers could use in court against driver.
I watched a vid from a driver in Iowa who got a new KW T680, It had a dashcam just like his old truck but it wasnt until later that first day that he noticed the camera was turned around. It was watching him. !
If they make the cameras mandatory for Lease Ops then yall should receive a deduction for the weekly lease cost and a lil extra speed since the cameras are most likely for insurance reduction on primes end and some of that damn sure should carry on to the lease folks
We drive.team. They shut us down filming on duty or on premises. Eventually they all will because of all the lawsuits. We.have forward facing cameras only and most companies are going.that route. You are blessed to be able to film.

Leave their are other companies it's just the begging. Find private companies they don't do all of that .
Your right. The show will go on. When it comes to saving money, they will let drivers go and they will get some more from Trucking School and keep it moving. That was good content. Keep up the good work.
It's not the Trucking Companies... It's the Government. Regulations... The Insurance companies... REQUIREMENTS due to BAILOUTS and MANDATES!..
Some drivers nobody would want to see naked. Lol.
dodge that topic as long as you can because they are watching what we are talking about
Time to LEAVE ✅👍✅
Prime announced this at a big conference lately that because of one driver who got caught watching videos while driving down the road. They are putting cameras into EVERY SINGLE one of their trucks
I always said “ the grass is just as brown on the other side of the fence”. Lol
And if it looks greener, it just means there's more 💩💩 over there. Lol.
That made me leave Walmart years ago watch out for the windshield reflection
Your an amazing driver love your videos keep up the great job
Outward facing cameras 🎥 cool👌🏾Inward facing 🫨 NOOOO!!!!!
Great advice. Dont leave. Like you said, they are probably all going to do it, so you should take your own advice. Just ask if you can cover the camera once you are sleeping or something, or anytime you cut the truck off.
theres no need to cover the camera when you are sleeping because it turns off when the engine turns off. you can manually turn it off when idle even with the engine on. i guess if you wanna throw a cover over the camera when you sleep then you could but thats honestly just paranoia.... they arent active security cameras, theres nobody sitting in an office watching live feeds of all the drivers, it literally doesnt work that way
source: i've driven vehicles with the exact same Netradyne cameras being installed in prime trucks
Cameras are a no go micro management in a truck is crazy
Greatings from Austria You are doing just fine ❤
I haven’t been asked yet but I think they need 200 people to test it first off great video slim pack
I would have quit no question
None of that applies to the inward-facing cameras, but I just had to rant and get that out there lmfao.
Either you volunteer or u going to be volun told
And you going to give up the keys
Swift tried to do this in 2018 didn’t work out too well the lawsuits and a bunch of drivers quitting. They had to disable the inward facing camera🤷🏾♂️
I was there n witnessed that. They disabled them real quick 😂😂 I left in 2017 after they put them in. I was called abt a braking event n the video was Clear n had audio on me
Prime is genius. There’s a lot of layoffs happening and instead of them laying people off they instead do the one thing all truckers hate.
Bingo
Economy is crashing so it's always better when people leave on their own rather than to have to be fired or layed off.
Oh! Wow! Not cameras! Well I have been driving a school bus for 12 years and last month they installed cameras facing me and facing the traffic. So I believe the cameras are coming to all CDL drivers in the near future. You are a great driver and I believe you will make the right decision for you. Stay safe and God bless. SC 💚💚💚
🖐🏿🖐🏿🖐🏿 WATCHED ON WEDNESDAY MAY 8, 2024 AFTERNOON 🙂
That’s why I drive for a very small company 12 trucks home every night and good pay
What state? Are they hiring ?
Upstate NY but they haven’t hired anyone in 8 years
And when things get slow enough their doors will close just like yellow. Nobody exempt from a drought.
You are very lucky 😊
New York?? I will never
Do your own thing Jasmine! That is so intrusive! You are clean! Prayers for you!
Hello 👋,, gd seeing uu first time in Maryland. Stay safe driver 😊
Now I Drove A Truck With one Dash Cam and two Side by Side Mirror Cameras. The Dash Cam only Records when You Brake Hard or in A collision. But they don’t Monitor you while you are Driving. But when you Brake it’ll Record what is Front of You and what you were Doing to Brake. And the Mirror Cameras Are checking behind you and From Side to Side to record if you were staying in Your Lane Due to accident or if someone Rear ends you.
While I understand your statement, Prime hasn’t given any clear reasons why they’re asking for volunteers. Or, why cameras are being installed
@@colvilletitus9408 liability. In court, they have less liability. Either pointing at the 4 wheeler, or the drivers mistake. They are independent contractors, not company employees
@@colvilletitus9408 u have to install them gradually, not all at once. U don't want large amount quitting all at once.
Everyone is getting them.
@@colvilletitus9408 more likely they CSA Scores are Borderline.
I cant lizard around anymore
Dem reptiles are outta luck 😅
Bwaahaahaa!!😂
🤣😂🤣😂
Why are they messing with you girl? It’s not even May 10 yet that’s crazy…SMH!! Stay safe out there💪🏾🚛🚛🚛
Someone else on yt said i dont know why slime pack care she always got 12 cameras in her face anyways 🤣💀 i be looking for you out here slime pack hahaha you funny af
True😊
Hahaa ai is the shit i love it
ALWAYS follow the money trail! Prime knows there is money to be made on CZcams videos and, just like the police videos, they want in on the action. I don't think it's personal... They want the revenue.
Dashcam outward ok but not inward at driver. No!
I disagree. It is for liability purposes, not to add content to their channel.
Hey, Jasmine Watching from Baton Rouge, Louisiana . Checking policy and protocol before and if it's not job required you know what to do.
Slimepack Nation Supports 😊 you ❤️ ♥️ 🙏🏾 for continued strength and success in Jesus name.
Watching on 5/8/24.
Well, you gotta do what there say. Remember, you're running under their authority..
Nah you only need outward cameras to prove who is at fault
I just saw another trucker video and his truck was stolen with his trailer loaded with lumber and that could be the reason for the cameras.
naw.
Big Rig Beccas Brothers truck. Got stolen out of the yard in Texas
My personal experience I work with a mega carrier they did install cameras inside the trk.. they stop putting cameras because the company were losing divers till this day still NO CAMERAS INSIDE..👍
You can count on inward facing cameras going in the truck it will be used against you and your personal privacy will be gone
I never talked to my fleet manager not in the 5yr I was there as Mark lol live load calls only. They would have to send me a message 😂
Nerdy men with access to watch and listen to women on cameras 24/7. What could go wrong? - WW
Jas., as for the camera,oh no, if the truck belongs 100% to the company there's not much you can say, but as a owner or lease you have a lot to say.My nephew drives out of Fla., for prime Amazon & quick because of camera (invasion of privacy) so he quit , but you do you, I love this journey with you 🎉
I would have said he’ll naw he’ll naw😂💯
Why you? Company policy. CZcams does not make you special or exempt.
Enjoy your new camera. 😂
You have the perfect attitude for this situation Jasmine!!!
Big Brother is ALWAYS wanting to know your every move, right down to when you scratch your butt!
Keep it up.
yep, you are on a job site using company equipment. its really no different than working in a warehouse with heavy machinery where cameras are there to make sure people are safely doing their jobs
maybe this will push more people into becoming owner ops and truckers can take the industry back from the mega carriers... thats the dream right?
Trucker are human beings and deserve so much more respect in our society. Everything is for sale these days, and the least we can do is support the drivers. They’re banned in Canada.
Leaving In situations that a person is not comfortable with doing, has nothing to do with trying to hurt the company . I think we as ppl all reach a point , when we have to draw a line in the sand
I worked for PRIME and got a settlement from a class action suit what does that tell ya dirty dirty dirty company
I can see if it was a day cab, but this is a sleeper truck ain’t no way
I work for ROEHL, we have outward and inward cameras, its not as bad as people makei t out to be in my opinion.
I watched a vid from a driver in Iowa who got a new KW T680, It had
a dashcam just like his old truck but it wasnt until later that first day
that he noticed the camera was turned around. It was watching him.
!
For insurance, technically, their truck
If they make the cameras mandatory for Lease Ops then yall should receive a deduction for the weekly lease cost and a lil extra speed since the cameras are most likely for insurance reduction on primes end and some of that damn sure should carry on to the lease folks
We drive.team. They shut us down filming on duty or on premises. Eventually they all will because of all the lawsuits. We.have forward facing cameras only and most companies are going.that route. You are blessed to be able to film.
Thank you for addressing this..they said it’s for everybody
Ups delivery have cameras in their delivery trucks. To check on the drivers seatbelt use and not reversing when they start the truck up.
Prime will get you. Beware. I love what you do.
